Wen Shike blinked her eyes and walked downstairs slowly.
“They’re probably scared to death.”
“I didn’t do it on purpose. I just accidentally used a bit too much strength in my hand.” Wen Shike’s expression looked very candid. “If I scared them, then it’s certainly my fault. I should be more careful.”
A touch of self-reproach and annoyance colored Wen Shike’s cold eyes, making her look a bit more adorable.
Lu Jingwei nodded. “It’s possible to be careless in these things. Just be more careful next time.”
The two looked at each other, reaching a strange tacit understanding. Lu Jingwei’s lips curled slightly.
Because of Wen Shike’s stunt, the four people in the classroom quickly dispersed, having no heart to stay any longer. The two girls who had been talking the most excitedly didn’t sleep well that night, when they woke up the next morning, their eyes were swollen.
Wen Shike had previously set a flag: if she took first place, she would lead her teammates to practice dancing for thirteen hours a day. Her schedule was already planned: 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. She even had someone bring her a timer, if they took a break, the time would be pushed back accordingly, they were definitely going to practice for a full thirteen hours.
Everyone had already been demanding to stay until 1:00 or 2:00 AM anyway, so they shouldn’t have much of an issue with her plan.
When Wen Shike arrived at 7:00 AM, the others were already in the classroom. However, they hadn’t started practicing yet and were all doing their own thing. She took the opportunity to explain the schedule to the leader.
The leader was Sun Wei, the girl from yesterday who disliked her but had still spoken up for her.
After hearing Wen Shike’s schedule, Sun Wei was silent for two seconds. She glanced at her and nodded. “Okay, thirteen hours… that’s good. With a timer, we’ll know exactly how long we’ve practiced.”
Once Sun Wei and Wen Shike agreed, they shared the schedule with everyone. On the surface, this schedule seemed easier than staying until the early hours of the morning, but these thirteen hours were pure training time. If they rested in between, the training time would be extended.
Understanding the rules, two people’s faces darkened.
“Doesn’t that mean we’ll be here until 3:00 or 4:00 AM?” The girl whose eye swelling had gone down slightly spoke up.
“Didn’t you want to be competitive?” Wen Shike glanced at her. “Since we’re doing it, let’s be the ‘King of Competitors’ group.”
The two girls choked back their words. They originally had objections, but Wen Shike’s comment made them swallow their complaints. They firmly believed that with such a grueling training schedule, Wen Shike would definitely be the first to break.
As long as Wen Shike couldn’t hold out, they could rest as well.
Their thoughts were beautiful, but reality was painful.
After just half a day, they discovered that Wen Shike was a monster who didn’t seem to know what exhaustion was. Lu Jingwei was the same; as long as Wen Shike was practicing, Lu Jingwei would absolutely not stop.
If one were to say they were competing with each other, the atmosphere between them was actually unusually good. They even helped each other refine movements. For some reason, whenever Wen Shike touched Lu Jingwei, Lu Jingwei would make a strange expression.
The onlookers: “?”
The two who hadn’t slept well almost drifted off after sitting on the floor for a while. When they closed their eyes, Wen Shike and Lu Jingwei were practicing; when they opened them, they were still practicing.
“You’ve been resting for an hour,” Wen Shike reminded the two sitting by the wall. “I’ve already caught up to your progress from yesterday.”
The two: !!!
“Are you sure you want to keep resting? Will you be able to keep up with the progress later?” Wen Shike asked.
The two looked at each other, then at the expressionless Wen Shike. They recalled the fear of being dominated by their high school deans and immediately scrambled up. They felt like they could write a thesis later titled, How It Feels to Be Forced to Work Without Enough Sleep.
During lunch, the two almost face planted into their food trays. As soon as they finished eating, they rushed back to the dormitory to catch a nap.
What was “competitive spirit”? They had no idea. In this vast world, sleep was supreme.
On the way, they bumped into An Ya, who was also returning to the dorm. They hurriedly greeted her and prepared to leave.
“Are you okay… you look so haggard,” An Ya frowned, stopping the two.
“I didn’t sleep well last night.”
An Ya was silent for a moment before lowering her voice. “Are you in a group with Wen Shike?”
“Yeah, she’s a devil,” the girl on the left said, shuddering twice. “But… how did Wen Shike bully you back then?”
After they went back last night, they immediately confirmed the time Wen Shike had returned. They were fairly certain the person outside the door was Wen Shike herself. Their lack of sleep was due to the fear that Wen Shike would come looking for trouble. However, an entire morning had passed, and nothing had happened.
It was as if Wen Shike hadn’t heard anything at all; she was the same as before. Although the training intensity had increased, Wen Shike’s own training was the most intense, so they couldn’t say much.
“She didn’t bully me… stop asking.” An Ya pursed her lips, then gave a slightly forced smile. “Hurry and go have your nap. I’m going back now.”
An Ya left after speaking, leaving the two looking at each other in confusion.
“Why can’t people speak clearly these days?”
“If they don’t speak clearly, you’re left to guess. If you end up saying something that sounds like a rumor and a problem arises, that’s your responsibility.” Lu Jingwei said as she passed by. She looked back at the two. “I can tell your usual living environments are quite simple.”
The two: …
Why, after suffering physical exhaustion, did they have to have their IQ questioned?
They wanted to argue, but Lu Jingwei had already entered her dorm and closed the door. They even heard the sound of the door locking, a clear sign they weren’t welcome.
When they went to training in the afternoon, Wen Shike noticed that the two girls who liked to speak with hidden thorns were much quieter.
“Have you heard the news? After the second public performance, the top eleven in the voting can go participate in a variety show. We don’t know which one yet, but the news will likely be announced after the performance.” Sun Wei pushed open the door and walked in, her voice excited.
Everyone looked up in unison. “Really?! Last year it was Happy 100%. Where is it this year? Eldest Young Lady, do you have any news?”
“I don’t have a phone.” Wen Shike was also a bit curious and planned to use Sun Yuexi’s phone to ask around when she got back.
“It shouldn’t be too bad,” Sun Wei said. “Happy 100% is a program with high national recognition. Similar programs… there are only a few. We can guess.”
“But aren’t we going to record a spin-off show soon? It feels like we don’t have much time left for training.”
“True, the recording schedule is quite late this year.”
Several people talked at once, and the room clearly became lively because of this topic.
“What show do you think it is?” Lu Jingwei looked at Wen Shike. The two of them were sitting to the side, not joining the group discussion.
“Whatever it is, it’s just showing your face; there won’t be much screen time.” Wen Shike propped up her chin and looked at Lu Jingwei, her voice lowering. “But… work hard. Maybe we can go record the show together? Screen time isn’t important, what matters is getting out for some fresh air.”
Lu Jingwei couldn’t help but laugh. “Eldest Young Lady, you’re being a bit humble bragging.”
Watching Lu Jingwei’s smiling face, Wen Shike blinked uncomfortably and looked away. Lu Jingwei’s smiles were usually reserved, but this time she let go a little, and her charisma spiked.
“Smile more. Your votes could double.”
“Why?”
“Because it looks good.”
