Upon hearing this, Xie Jinghong actually laughed. He took the cigarette from his mouth, held it between his fingers, placed both hands on the car door, and leaned forward to look at Fu Yanshen inside the car. His expression turned extremely serious as he said, “Sold to you? She’s just your wife, not your slave. She didn’t sell herself to you.”

These words stunned Fu Yanshen.

It seemed he had never considered this question before.Full novel: Your White Moonlight is Pregnant, Why Should I Serve? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The question of Ning Shu leaving.

Thinking about how Ning Shu had brought up divorce twice, for some reason, Fu Yanshen suddenly felt extremely agitated.

He fell silent.

Xie Jinghong tapped Fu Yanshen with his finger, his tone serious. “You’re my brother, and Ning Shu is also my brother. So, you’d better know your limits. Enough is enough. Don’t make things too ugly for everyone, or you won’t be able to clean up the mess in the end.”

Fu Yanshen looked at him. “Is CEO Xie—no, Young Master Xie—threatening me?”

“Threatening?” Xie Jinghong curled his lips, unsure whether he was mocking or something else.

Fu Yanshen’s handsome face grew even gloomier.

Xie Jinghong continued, “It’s not a threat; it’s just informing you of the facts. As an outstanding and brilliant young talent, and a married man at that, CEO Fu’s understanding of marriage law is rather shallow.”

No wonder people said Xie Jinghong had a sharp tongue. His seemingly casual words could leave others speechless.

Before Fu Yanshen could respond, Xie Jinghong added, “So, remember this: Ning Shu can leave you anytime, and she can divorce you anytime. Do you think anyone would want to put up with your nonsense forever?”

Fu Yanshen’s face instantly turned pale with anger.

Tang Yue’ai grinned from the side, chiming in, “Exactly!”

For some reason, Ning Shu felt her nose sting and her eyes grow warm.

Xie Jinghong’s words… while seemingly directed at Fu Yanshen, felt as though they were meant for her?

As if he were scolding her too, trying to wake her up?

“Oh, right. Let me make this clear first.” Xie Jinghong leaned even closer, staring straight at Fu Yanshen through the car window.

His features were already strikingly handsome, and this posture only intensified his aggressiveness and imposing presence, like a spear that could pierce straight through an enemy’s heart.

His tone was cold and firm as he continued, “Once Ning Shu decides to divorce you, even the King of Heaven won’t be able to stop her.”

“Oh?” Fu Yanshen slowly raised an eyebrow. “Is CEO Xie trying to be the hero?”

“Not a bad description,” Xie Jinghong said. “So what if I am? What? You think only you can stand up for Meng Xuan, but I can’t be the hero for Ning Shu? Where does that confidence come from? Don’t think Meng Xuan is the only one with someone to back her up.”

Hearing this, Ning Shu’s fingertips trembled slightly, and she couldn’t help but turn her gaze toward him.

He was on the passenger side of her car, so he was very close to her.

So close that when Ning Shu turned, she could clearly see his handsome yet unusually serious face, and… the resolute, unwavering look in his eyes as he stared at Fu Yanshen, as if… declaring war.

Xie Jinghong’s words left no face for Fu Yanshen at all.

Fu Yanshen was indeed furious, so angry that he licked his lips and nodded. He said nothing more.

Though neither of them raised their voices, the tension between them was palpable.

Fu Yanshen simply turned his gaze to Ning Shu, who had remained silent all along, and tossed the question to her. “Are you going to ride in his car?”

Ning Shu’s silence made Fu Yanshen extremely displeased, as if a heavy stone were pressing down on his chest.

She remained silent, neither defending him nor refusing to be defended by Xie Jinghong.

He and Xie Jinghong were not just childhood friends who grew up together—they were actually related.

The two were distant cousins.

Fu Yanshen’s mother, He Lanqiu, and Xie Jinghong’s mother were cousins.

Now that their words had escalated to the point of being unbearable, Ning Shu was acting as if she were an outsider.

Finally unable to “watch the tigers fight from the mountain,” Ning Shu, who had been called out, spoke up.

She frowned slightly, her fingers curling, and looked at Xie Jinghong before finally saying, “Get in the car.”

As she said this, she felt a pang of sadness in her heart.

Tang Yue’ai’s face fell first, her brows furrowing.

Ning Shu thought Xie Jinghong would lash out with his sharp tongue, scolding her for being spineless—for stooping so low that she was “worse than a dog,” yet still acting this way.

After all, he hadn’t held back from “criticizing” her before.

But Xie Jinghong’s reaction took her by surprise.

Xie Jinghong seemed to have anticipated her refusal. He showed no trace of surprise or shock, simply uttering one word: “Okay.”

This left Tang Yue’ai stunned.

Ning Shu was also taken aback but felt a wave of relief.

Tang Yue’ai, unwilling to let it go, tried to say something more, but Xie Jinghong pulled her back and shook his head at her.

Tang Yue’ai had no choice but to give up, stomping her foot in frustration.

Ning Shu’s eyes inexplicably reddened. Seeing this, Tang Yue’ai was stunned again and fell silent, turning and walking away without another word.

Xie Jinghong didn’t look at Ning Shu, simply striding forward as he casually lit the cigarette he had been holding.

Watching their retreating figures, Ning Shu felt she had let down her friends who had stood up for her so fiercely.

Xie Jinghong had spoken so harshly, bringing Tang Yue’ai along to support her with such unwavering determination, yet she… had been as soft and spineless as ever.

Just then, Xie Jinghong happened to glance back at her while taking a drag from his cigarette before turning away and continuing to walk.

Ning Shu’s eyes grew even redder.

Fu Yanshen started the car, equally silent.

But as soon as the car began moving, he stepped on the accelerator, startling Ning Shu.

Ning Shu looked at him.

Fu Yanshen’s face darkened as he slowed the car down again, saying, “No wonder you were so aggressive this morning—you had someone backing you up. Are you satisfied now that your husband was cornered and attacked first thing in the morning?”

Hearing this, Ning Shu replied, “Quite satisfied. I just regret not finding someone to back me up sooner. It’s a shame I only did it now.”

Ning Shu suddenly felt too tired to explain herself.

Her words, however, inexplicably made Fu Yanshen chuckle. He said, “What’s the point of deliberately bringing Xie Jinghong and the others here to put on this show? Don’t forget, today isn’t just about picking up Meng Xuan—Fang Chen’s… is also coming back with her.”

He trailed off, pausing before adding, “If you wanted to make a scene, today shouldn’t have been the day, right? I thought… you would understand me, but Ning Shu, you’ve disappointed me again.”

His words made Ning Shu laugh bitterly.

With reddened eyes, Ning Shu looked earnestly at his profile.

After a moment, she didn’t respond at all, simply turning her gaze forward and falling silent.

Ning Shu said nothing, and Fu Yanshen had nothing more to say.

In silence, Ning Shu leaned her head against the car window, quietly watching the scenery outside.

The capital was where she had grown up, and every tree and blade of grass was familiar to her.

The road to the airport was also familiar.

As she watched the road drawing closer, she finally spoke.

Her voice was calm and devoid of emotion as she said, “Fu Yanshen, let’s get a divorce. I don’t want anything.”

Fu Yanshen was slightly taken aback, glancing at her briefly before saying nothing in response.

Ning Shu continued, “I’ll move out as soon as I pick up Fang Chen. I’ll have a lawyer send you the divorce agreement, and I hope you’ll sign it as soon as possible.”

Fu Yanshen was instantly overwhelmed by uncontrollable anger. “How far do you have to push this before you’re satisfied? Are you only going to stop when it’s impossible for you to pick up the two of them today?”

Facing his anger, Ning Shu remained unemotional. “I’m not pushing anything. I’m not discussing this with you—I’m informing you.”

These words left Fu Yanshen stunned.

After a moment, he said, “Fine, fine. You… you’re really something. Throwing my own words back at me, aren’t you?”

Ning Shu didn’t respond, turning her head to the side.

This was exactly why she hadn’t left with Xie Jinghong and the others earlier.

There were some things she wanted to make clear herself.

A few seconds later, Fu Yanshen’s voice broke the silence. “I won’t divorce you.”

This immediately made Ning Shu frown. She looked at him with disbelief and asked, “Why?”
