This evening, Yusei and Devitt hatched a win-win plan that, if all went smoothly, would resolve both their predicaments simultaneously.
Returning to the factory, Yusei and Devitt explained their idea.
The others in the factory were somewhat surprised upon hearing it.
“What?!” Hirata Shun asked in surprise.
“Devitt, you’re saying Yusei should go participate in underground duels, and we’ll earn money through betting?”
Devitt nodded.
“No one has seen Yusei duel before, and no one knows his true strength.”
“If we just win two or three times, we’ll have a large sum of money.
Then, we won’t have to endure being stuck in this dilapidated factory anymore.”
“My friend over there has some connections, and we can totally find a place to start a business.”
“At the same time, Yusei will also have enough money to buy a D-Wheel and participate in the future Turbo Duel Grand Prix.”
Hearing these words, the young Rali immediately became excited.
“That’s great!
Then we won’t have to worry about that broken down factory anymore, and from now on, we can have meat at every meal!”
“But…” Hirata Shun seemed a bit worried.
He said as cautiously as possible, “Those people in the underground duels aren’t simple.
Yusei’s current Deck doesn’t seem very strong either.
Can this really work?”
Devitt said, “This is also why I’m discussing it with everyone.
Besides having to take out a portion of our savings for betting initially, Yusei will also need some cards to adjust his Deck.
If everyone is willing to lend him their cards, then this plan will proceed even more smoothly.”
The naive Rali was already overjoyed.
“I believe in Yusei!
Since he could defeat Akagi Ryoji, he can definitely defeat those underground duelists!
I’ll go get my cards!”
However, Hirata Shun still felt uneasy.
He pulled Devitt aside and whispered, “Who came up with this idea?
Was it you or him?”
Devitt replied, “Yusei just said he wanted to make money through underground duels to buy a D-Wheel.
If you really want to count, this plan is mine.”
Hirata Shun frowned and said, “Are you sure you’ve thought this through?
Our savings aren’t much to begin with.
And with the situation here in the factory, if something goes wrong, we won’t just have no savings, we’ll lose our jobs too!”
Devitt fell silent for a moment before saying, “Then, for the first few rounds, I’ll handle the betting myself.
If you all feel it’s okay later, you can join in.
But you still have to lend Yusei your cards.
We owe him this favor, don’t we?”
Hirata Shun thought about it and finally nodded.
In Satellite Sector, even those who weren’t Duelists would collect Duel Monsters cards.
These things were almost as valuable as money, considered hard currency with room for appreciation.
Therefore, even though Hirata Shun and the others didn’t have complete Decks, they had collected a few decent cards.
This matter was finally settled.
Hirata Shun walked up to Yusei and handed him his less than ten cards.
He said with some embarrassment,
“It’s not that I don’t trust you, Yusei.”
“It’s just that the risk of this matter is really too great…”
“I won’t participate in the betting, but you can take my cards and use them.
I hope they can help you.”
Yusei smiled and shook his head.
“Don’t take it to heart, this is perfectly normal.
Once I have a Deck, I’ll definitely return everyone’s cards!”
“Me too!
Me too!” Rali, who had just given the money to Devitt, excitedly ran over.
Although he deeply trusted Devitt and was somewhat optimistic about Yusei’s strength, he didn’t impulsively pour out all his savings.
Instead, he kept about three to four days’ worth of living expenses.
As a Duel Monster enthusiast, Rali’s collection was more extensive than Hirata Shun’s.
However, among them, there were virtually no truly useful cards, with only a Machine-Type monster card being somewhat decent.
“One-Shot Advancer”
“Level 1”
“EARTH/Machine/Effect”
“ATK/DEF: 0/0”
“Effect: When you Normal Summon a monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand.
You can Tribute this card; destroy 1 opponent’s monster that battled with your monster this turn.”
Devitt walked over and said with a gentle smile, “Yusei, it seems Rali truly believes in you.
This is his favorite card.
You must use it well!”
Looking at the card Rali handed over, Yusei was stunned for a moment.
This card had appeared in the original anime.
It was a gift Rali gave Yusei when he was about to leave for New Domino City.
He remembered that in the anime, this card was Rali’s most treasured card. You are reading on g.com, the official source.
“I know,” Yusei said solemnly, “I will definitely not let everyone down!”
Thus, several hours passed.
Yusei used everyone’s cards in the factory to form his first new Deck.
The originally obtained set of cards was specifically for Turbo Duels, and the Spell Cards within it were Speed Spell Cards, unable to be used in normal duels.
Therefore, the Spell and Trap Cards in this new Deck were basically all from Devitt, while the construction of Monster Cards concentrated everyone’s efforts.
The following day passed uneventfully.
When night fell once more upon Satellite Sector, Yusei and Devitt set out with everyone’s hopes.
According to common sense, Devitt’s rest day was already used up yesterday.
But for this plan that might change everyone’s fate, Hirata Shun gave up his own rest day and completed Devitt’s work in the factory.
Yesterday, their destination was a somewhat prosperous A-class district.
Tonight, however, they were heading to a desolate area with no security management whatsoever—Sector R.
Stopping in front of what looked like an abandoned underground parking lot, Yusei and Devitt got out.
Soon, two muscular men in tank tops emerged from the corners, holding weapons.
Devitt, who had already prepared, took out a card from his hand.
“Don’t be nervous, we’re all on the same side~”
That card was the pass to participate in the underground duels, just like the meaning of “Fire Star” to the Wildfire Team.
The two muscular men examined the Trap Card with a special symbol—a betting pass—then pulled up the rolling gate, revealing the entrance.
Yusei and Devitt walked through rows of garbage piles made of scrap metal, finally reaching this “hole in the ceiling” underground dueling arena.
Dazzling and glaring neon lights permeated every corner, and chaotic rock music echoed through the vast underground parking lot, making it feel somewhat hazy and dreamlike.
Looking around, various underground duelists were gambling and drinking at tables built from scrap metal and discarded cars.
In the very center of the arena, there was also a long-standing, traditional dueling platform.
As if to welcome some ceremony, a line of large characters was sprayed on the side of the dueling platform with a spray can.
The two looked at the words and couldn’t help but stop.
What was written on it was—”Grand Tournament to Seize the Throne!
Please challenge Jack Atlas with all your might!”
Due to negative feedback and some controversy regarding previous plot developments, a revision has been decided upon in the end.
This new book is my first attempt at 5Ds, so there might be some problems I haven’t encountered before.
I hope everyone can provide more opinions and suggestions, and I also hope everyone can be a little patient.
I will do my best to write a story that satisfies everyone.
At the same time, please don’t worry about issues like the author overseeing things.
Besides this book, the author also has a million-word work with over two thousand chapters, so brothers can rest assured and dive in.
The link to my old book is below.
It’s also Yu-Gi-Oh!
themed, covering the DM series, and is already fully updated for binge-reading!
