“Jack…”

“Is that guy back in action again?”

Devack’s expression was grim; clearly, he didn’t have a good impression of this person.Full novel: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds: Duelists Beyond Light — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Having learned more over the past few days, Yusei had a rough idea of some past events concerning F17 Sector.

For a long time, F17 Sector had been The Enforcers’ territory.

Because they worked in the factory there, one of the team’s core members, Yusei, considered it their base and made many friends.

Later, due to some incidents, The Enforcers splintered.

To prevent Jack from leaving the team, Yusei had no choice but to challenge him to a Duel, which took place in F17 Sector.

At that time, Yusei was still a rookie who had only recently started Dueling.

He focused solely on the interactions between Monster Cards, but was very unfamiliar with using Spell and Trap Cards.

In that Duel, he undoubtedly lost to Jack.

Yusei’s other friends in F17 Sector tried to plead on his behalf, hoping Jack would reconsider and not leave the organization on an impulse.

But the arrogant Jack only left behind some mocking and cold words, then departed, disregarding their past friendship…

Precisely because of this, many people in F17 Sector later detested this so-called “King.” Devack had personally witnessed that Duel between Jack and Yusei, and thus felt even more antagonistic towards this cold fellow.

“Jack Atlas is a ruthless Duelist who uses Red Dragon Archfiend as his ace Monster,” Devack introduced with a cold expression.

“Yusei, although I really hope you win this underground tournament, to be honest, his strength is probably not inferior to yours.”

Yusei was very familiar with the original plot; even without Devack saying anything, he knew what kind of guy Jack was.

The hazy, reverberating rock music grew increasingly chaotic, and the underground venue became more and more crowded.

When the last song had finished playing, with a resounding “THUD,” the rolling shutter door of the underground parking lot slammed shut.

Aside from the stage, all the lights were extinguished.

A line of steam burst from the edges of the stage.

A short-haired female MC, wearing a nose ring and piercings, ran onto the stage and loudly announced into the microphone:

“All powerful Duelists of Satellite!!”

“Welcome to—The King’s Challenge!!

Jack Atlas’s underground arena!!!”

In an instant, fervent cheers filled the entire venue.

Bottles of beer were opened, spraying foam towards the ceiling.

Yusei and Devack found a spot on the edge of the crowd, not mingling with that crazy bunch.

The dynamic female MC continued loudly: The source of this chapter is g.com.

“Unlike all previous underground tournaments!”

“The ultimate winner of this tournament, besides receiving a high prize money, will also have the opportunity to challenge the King of Satellite—Jack!!”

“As long as you defeat Jack, then you can become the pinnacle of Satellite!!”

“Before the tournament officially begins, let’s first invite tonight’s protagonist—Jack Atlas, to make his appearance!!!”

Like a magic trick, the female MC waved countless confetti from her hand.

Amidst the continuously falling, sparkling confetti, a card flew towards the Duel stage in the center of the venue!!

Everyone’s gaze followed the card.

The lights in the arena simultaneously converged!

Finally, an arrogant figure standing under the spotlight appeared in the center of the Duel stage and caught the card.

Everyone looked over and saw the arrogant Jack sitting on a throne on the Duel stage.

Amidst the excited shouts of countless people, he calmly stood up and proclaimed in a deep, powerful voice:

“I am Jack Atlas!!”

“But, I have never referred to myself by the title of King!!”

“For me, the title of King of Satellite is meaningless!!”

“My ultimate goal is to ascend to the peak above all peaks!!”

“All of you, no matter what purpose brings you here, no matter what Deck you use, I couldn’t care less!!”

“All I want to do is defeat the challenger who ultimately stands before me!!”

“If you are ready to be crushed by me and Red Dragon Archfiend, then bring out your strongest power and fight your way out from among the Duelists!!!”

After speaking, he raised the card he had just received.

It was not a card from Jack’s Deck, but a temporary commemorative card.

On it was depicted a golden crown, engraved with Jack’s name.

For a moment, the Duelists below the stage were incredibly excited.

They all knew very well that Jack merely participating in such an event was enough to earn them money they couldn’t make in several years.

If they could become the King, then such opportunities would be countless.

But what these commoners didn’t know was that if it weren’t for wanting to leave this garbage dump of Satellite, the arrogant Jack would absolutely not have been willing to become a clown in this farce.

The brief but fervent opening ceremony thus concluded.

This underground Duel tournament would officially commence.

A total of thirty-two Duelists received invitations for this event.

They would undergo five rounds of elimination over a period of one week to select a winner.

The final champion would challenge Jack and claim the title of King.

Two underground Duelists walked into the combat zone and began their battle after a loud shout.

Seeing this scene, Yusei couldn’t help but ask Devack beside him: “Aren’t they supposed to Duel on the Duel stage?”

Devack replied: “The Duel stage will only be used for the final Duel against Jack.

That thing was brought here with great effort by these people; they definitely won’t just casually bring it out for use.”

Yusei furrowed his brow.

“Damn it…

I don’t have a Duel Disk.

How am I supposed to participate in the tournament?”

Devack smiled mysteriously and pulled out a slightly damaged Duel Disk from behind his back: “Don’t worry.

In this place, there’s nothing you can’t get if you’re willing to pay.

Just slip some cash to any of these guys, and they’ll definitely be willing to lend out a Duel Disk.”

Yusei nodded and, with Devack’s help, put on the Duel Disk.

He secretly resolved that once he got his first paycheck, he would definitely acquire a basic set of Dueling equipment.

After adjusting the Duel Disk’s straps and inserting his Deck, Yusei didn’t even have a chance to make further adjustments before the first Duel of the grand tournament had already concluded.

Amidst a violent explosion, one Duelist’s Life Points were instantly wiped out, and he collapsed to the ground.

His opponent sneered viciously: “That was easy, wasn’t it?

It’s no different from stepping on an ant.”

The defeated Duelist gritted his teeth and picked himself up from the ground, his face full of shock and unwillingness.

Clearly, he hadn’t expected to lose so quickly.

The two left the arena one after another; one went to meet fervent cheers, while the other faced piercing accusations and curses.

“The result of the first Duel has been revealed!!”

“The winner is the aggressive Duelist—Ichiro!!”

“Next up to Duel are!!”

“The Deep Sea Duelist, symbolizing suffocation and despair—Danker Jin!”

“And the mysterious individual with no information available yet—Yusei!!”
