Three full days had passed since the summoning of Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu.

Satellite had been heavily affected by its summoning.

Large numbers of people had disappeared, throwing the situation into even greater chaos.Full novel: Yu-Gi-Oh!: Who Taught You Guys Link Summoning?! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The major gangs and independent organizations all experienced drastic shifts in strength due to the loss of manpower, and some areas had even fallen into power vacuums.

Organizational reshuffling, gang wars, struggles for power, and opportunists running rampant plunged the entirety of Satellite into complete turmoil.

Murder, arson, looting, and destruction spread across nearly every part of Satellite.

More of humanity’s darker side surfaced along with it, giving rise to even more horrifying incidents.

Fortunately, Martha’s orphanage was located far away from the populated districts and protected by the Duelists Crow and Kazumo, making it one of the few remaining safe zones.

“I can’t do this anymore… I’ve been at this for three straight days.

No matter what, tomorrow you’re the one going outside!”

Inside the third-floor bedroom of the orphanage, Crow slumped onto the sofa without a shred of dignity, dark circles hanging beneath his eyes as he complained.

Kazumo returned from outside the room, carrying two steaming cups of coffee.

“You were the one who chose to stand watch during the second half of the night.

What’s wrong?

Is the great Crow going back on his word now?”

While joking, Kazumo handed one of the coffees to Crow.

Holding the other cup himself, he sat down in the empty seat beside him.

After a long while without hearing Crow talk back, Kazumo turned his head and discovered that Crow had already tilted his head aside and fallen asleep, quiet snores escaping him.

As for the coffee, he had casually placed it on the floor beside his feet.

Over these past three days, the two had taken shifts keeping watch and had driven away countless opportunists and thugs who came attacking.

Under these “chaotic times,” the orphanage was the perfect target for robbery.

If it were only night watch duty, the two would not have been so exhausted.

Because of his promise to Sally, Crow still forced himself to go out during the day after his night shifts to continue investigating the whereabouts of the Earthbound Immortal cult.

As the only two combatants currently available, Kazumo had to remain stationed at the orphanage once Crow went out.

Neither of them had a moment of rest during the daytime either.

Unfortunately, ever since the previous Duel, the Earthbound Immortal cult had vanished without a trace.

The hideout the two discovered back then had been abandoned; Crow had returned to investigate it again, but all he found were the clothes left behind by the sacrificed victims.

Losing all clues had undoubtedly made Crow’s search vastly more difficult.

After three days of such relentless work, both of them were utterly exhausted.

Looking at the sleeping Crow beside him, Kazumo let out a helpless sigh.

“Never thought I’d experience the prison-style classic of ‘watching TV while standing guard’ even after transmigrating into an anime world.”

And right now, there was still an unconscious injured patient in the house who needed care.

Naturally, that patient was Yusei. Find the original chapter at g.com.

The orphanage’s medicine supplies mainly consisted of cold and fever remedies; there had never been much medicine for external injuries stored there, and Yusei’s injuries had emptied out the entire stock.

If Yusei’s condition still did not improve, the two of them would probably have to go out soon and fight the bandits over medical supplies.

Thinking back to that day, the moment the two witnessed the summoning of the Earthbound Immortal, they immediately rode their D-Wheels toward the Duel site.

Unfortunately, they had still arrived one step too late.

By the time they got there, the Duel had already ended.

All that remained at the scene were an overloaded, malfunctioning D-Wheel and the heavily injured, unconscious Yusei.

To be fair, Yusei was incredibly lucky.

A D-Wheel traveling at high speed could reach 250 kilometers per hour; crashing at that speed and ending up with only broken bones and a concussion was practically miraculous.

Either this was the power of protagonist plot armor, or everyone in 5D’s naturally possessed superhuman physiques.

Kazumo felt the latter was more likely.

After all, in the original story, Jack also crashed constantly, yet before long he was always back on his feet again.

Now Yusei, covered in fractures, scrapes, and a concussion, was wrapped up like a rice dumpling and lying inside a private room on the third floor that Martha had specially cleared out for him.

Every day, Martha and Dr.

Schmidt checked on him several times, terrified that another accident might occur.

“Kazumo!

Brother Crow!

Yusei woke up!

Martha told me to come get you!”

The bedroom door burst open as a little boy rushed in, panting heavily while loudly informing the two of them.

“Mmh… huh?

Yusei woke up?!”

Crow was jolted awake from his sleep.

The good news quickly snapped him out of his groggy confusion, driving away his drowsiness.

“Thanks, we’ll head over right away.” Kazumo stood up and rubbed the boy’s forehead in thanks.

The two quickly crossed the hallway and arrived at Yusei’s room on the same floor.

Pushing the door open, they saw Yusei already sitting upright in bed while Martha stood beside him, endlessly lecturing.

Clearly, Martha was incredibly worried about the dangerous things they had been doing.

“Yo!

Laughing heartily, Crow walked up to the bedside and wanted to smack Yusei on the shoulder.

Realizing that was inappropriate, he ultimately slapped the edge of the bed instead.

Yusei’s still somewhat pale face revealed an apologetic smile.

“Yeah… sorry for making you all worry.”

Kazumo and Yusei had only met a few times before and were not particularly close, so he tactfully stood to the side and watched the reunion between the two friends.

Crow pulled over a chair and sat beside the bed, beginning to exchange intel with Yusei.

As Yusei slowly recounted everything, events unfolded exactly as Kazumo remembered from the original plot.

Sure enough, Rex Goodwin had approached Yusei and explained the destined conflict between the Signers and the Dark Signers.

In order to protect the people of New Domino City, Yusei had voluntarily returned to Satellite to battle the Dark Signers.

As a result, the moment Yusei arrived, Kalin immediately came looking for him, leading to the Duel Kazumo had witnessed afterward.

Crow then began talking about his and Kazumo’s own situation, which caused Yusei to fall silent.

Crow’s explanation differed greatly from what Goodwin had told him, forcing Yusei to reevaluate the current situation.

After a long silence, determination returned to Yusei’s eyes as he spoke.

“Even though I can’t tell which side’s story is the truth, there’s one thing I can confirm.”

“Now that the Earthbound Immortals have revived, the Dark Signers will definitely make their move against the Signers, right?”

Yusei calmly looked toward Kazumo, who stood behind Crow, and gave his conclusion.

“That’s right.” Kazumo nodded, affirming the answer.

“Then I need to hurry and find Luna and the others… they’re in danger!” As he spoke, Yusei struggled to throw off the blanket and get out of bed.

“Hey!

Are you insane?” Crow immediately pressed Yusei down and shoved him back onto the bed.

“You’re right, but leave Luna’s side to us!

Right now, you need to recover!”

“But…”

“No buts!” Crow thumped his chest.

“I’ve already gotten dragged into this, so I’m not some outsider anymore.

Besides, I’m really strong!”

Crow turned to glance at Kazumo, receiving a nod of agreement before looking back at Yusei.

“So we’ll leave Martha and the kids to you.

I’ll protect Luna and the others.

Kazumo too!”

Seeing Crow’s confident assurance, Yusei relaxed and smiled before lying back against the pillow.

“Alright… then I’m counting on you two.”
