“…W-What was that Summon just now?!”

The rookie officer finally snapped out of his shock and stuttered as he looked at the veteran officer beside him.

Though you only joined Sector Security this year, so it’s normal that you don’t know about it yet.”

The veteran officer was very satisfied with the rookie’s expression of complete inexperience and began explaining with a grin.

“Have you heard about the interdimensional exploration from two years ago?”

“Yeah.

I saw it on the TV news back then.

Don’t tell me this was the result of that?”

The veteran officer nodded.

“That’s right.

Because of confidentiality, the results were never made public.

In reality, that expedition discovered an entirely new type of monster.”

“An entirely new type of monster?!”

The rookie couldn’t help crying out in shock at the astonishing revelation.

“Exactly.

A completely new race known as Cyberse.”

“It was precisely through the power of these new monsters that our networks and smart devices advanced at an incredible pace.”

As if afraid the rookie wouldn’t understand, the veteran officer even took out the fully transparent “glass” phone he had just bought and proudly waved it in front of the rookie.

“Of course, the most important thing is that they brought us an entirely new Summoning method, a high-speed Summoning technique called ‘Link’!”

The rookie officer seemed overwhelmed by the flood of information and fell silent, failing to respond to the veteran officer’s smug boasting.

Not receiving any response, the veteran officer somewhat unhappily smacked the dazed rookie.

“Alright, focus on the Duel.

If you manage to learn something, maybe you’ll earn authorization to use the new Summoning method in the next internal evaluation.”

“Yes, sir!”

The rookie officer immediately straightened his posture and responded excitedly.

…

On the screen.

Tetsu saw Kazumo’s astonished expression and immediately let out a smug laugh.

“Trash from the lower districts, take the honor of being defeated by me and crawl straight into prison.”

“I activate Isolde’s on-summon effect!

Add 1 Warrior monster from my Deck to my hand!”

Following Tetsu’s declaration, a card immediately popped out from the Deck mounted in the center of his D-Wheel.

Tetsu swiftly drew the card into his hand.

The name of the card was instantly displayed on both Duel screens.

“S-Force Rappa Chiyomaru!”

“…”

Looking at the displayed card name, Kazumo was speechless.

He felt that nothing could surprise him anymore, and every trace of his earlier underestimation toward this world had vanished.

This was absolutely not the 5D’s world he knew… even this familiar character before him had pulled out such a “modern” Deck.

Tetsu continued his plays.

“I activate Isolde’s other effect!

I send 1 Equip Spell from my Deck to the Graveyard–Snatch Steal–then Special Summon any Level 1 Warrior monster from my Deck!”

The two maidens on Tetsu’s field raised both hands simultaneously, lifting the Equip Spell being sent to the Graveyard as a summoning song echoed from their mouths.

A streak of light shot out from the Deck, and a warrior answered their call.

“Special Summon S-Force Retroactive!”

A warrior clad in magenta high-tech armor appeared.

Flames burst from the massive engine nozzles on his shoulders as he hovered above the road on two mechanical wheels beneath his feet.

“I activate Retroactive’s effect!

Return it to my hand to Special Summon S-Force Edge Razor from my hand!”

“Next, Edge Razor’s effect!

I can Special Summon S-Force Gravitino from my hand!”

The magenta armored warrior accelerated with the thrusters on his shoulders and transformed into particles of light.

As the light faded away, two brand-new S-Force members appeared on the field.

One was a warrior clad in crimson futuristic samurai armor, while the other was a psychic wearing white high-tech armor and a cape.

[S-Force Gravitino] Level 5│LIGHT│Psychic│2000 ATK

“Next, because of Gravitino’s effect, I add S-Force Dog Tag from my Deck to my hand!”

“I’m not done yet!

I set Isolde, Goyo Defender, and the Tracker in my hand into the Link Arrows!

Let’s go!”

Link Summon!

A futuristic warrior clad in orange-and-black technological armor was constructed from within the Link Circuit, brilliant green light shining from the armor interfaces all across his body.

“Finally, I Set two cards and end my turn.”

Tetsu revealed a satisfied smile at the debut performance of his newly rebuilt Deck.

Looking at the silent Kazumo, he cruelly spoke:

“Come on, little rat.

Let me see your desperate struggle!”

Kazumo still said nothing as he observed the field.

After a while of silence, Kazumo spoke.

“Honestly, you really did surprise me.

But I should thank you.”

“What?”

“Thank you for forcing me to properly face this world.

So as repayment, I’ll crush you!

My turn, draw!”

With a spirited declaration, Kazumo sharply drew a card.

“What arrogant nonsense!

You think someone like you can crush me?”

Tetsu laughed in fury.

“I activate the Spell Card, Unexpected Dai!

Special Summon 1 Level 4 Normal Monster from my Deck!”

“I Special Summon Clavkiys, the Magikey Skyblaster from my Deck!”

[Clavkiys, the Magikey Skyblaster] Level 4│DARK│Warrior│1900 ATK

Seeing such a high-Attack low-Level monster, even Tetsu looked somewhat surprised.

“Hmph.

So this is where your confidence comes from?

If trash from the bottom managed to scavenge a card like that, then I suppose I’ll praise you a little.”

“Really?

Then I hope you’ll still be able to wear that same expression in a moment.”

Kazumo responded to the mockery with a smile.

“I Normal Summon Maginificent Magikey Mafteal from my hand!”

[Maginificent Magikey Mafteal] Level 4│LIGHT│Fiend│Tuner│1600 ATK

Clavkiys, the cheerful young adventurer with long golden braids and blue-and-white adventuring clothes, raised the Magikey gun in his hand.

Smoke poured from the gun.

Like a genie from legend, the smoke gathered together and formed a ram-headed demon adorned with golden jewelry.

“A Tuner Monster?!

But I won’t let you!”

Tetsu abruptly flipped up one of the face-down cards on his Duel Disk.

“I activate the Trap Card, Crackdown!”

The red Trap Card rose upright on the field, and the Japanese warrior illustrated upon it leapt out, throwing a rope that bound the ram-headed demon.

“Crackdown’s effect lets me take control of your monster.

Your monster is about to become mine-”

Suddenly, a blade-like tail sliced through the rope, and Tetsu’s smug expression froze.

“You opened my eyes, so as a return gift, I’ll show you a power that comes from beyond this world!”

Along with Kazumo’s voice, a green Quick-Play Spell Card rose onto the field.

The tail had come from the brown dragon illustrated upon the card.

The card was… Primite Drillbeam!

“Go!

Crush the enemy!”

Following Kazumo’s command, the brown dragon burst out from the card and unleashed a blue breath embodying ultimate heat.

In a blink, the breath pierced through the warrior holding the rope and the red Trap Card behind him.

The Trap’s effect was negated.
