Deep down, Susu was actually feeling a little hopeful.
For instance, she hoped the giant centipede could land a fatal blow on that incredibly formidable Fierce Tiger.
Then, she could escape to safety and be done with this mess for good.
After all, in terms of size, the centipede looked much larger than the Fierce Tiger!
So even if it couldn’t inflict any real damage, it could at least buy her enough time to get away!
However, Susu’s sliver of hope didn’t last long.
In fact, it didn’t even last five minutes.
That fragile hope, like a soap bubble, was effortlessly popped by the brown-eyed Fierce Tiger.
It had appeared on her escape route, lying in wait for who knows how long.
The Fierce Tiger leisurely swished its thick, long tail.
It lay there, watching her through lazily narrowed eyes, completely at ease.
Perhaps it was just her imagination, but she could have sworn she saw a hint of mockery in its gaze.
‘What the hell?
This has to be a hallucination.
I’m actually being mocked by a giant beast!’
But then again…
Thinking about her current identity, the pride and self-respect she held as a ‘superior primate’ withered like a dying flower.
‘I’m just a young cub whose teeth haven’t even fully grown in.
Isn’t it perfectly normal for this Fierce Tiger to laugh at me?!’
Susu secretly ground her teeth, carefully shuffling her paws backward from a distance of four or five meters.
‘If you’ve got the guts, wait until I’m grown up!
We can fight three hundred rounds then!’ she fumed internally.
‘What kind of skill is it to bully a kid?
You’re just picking on someone smaller than you!’
If she could speak, Susu would have ruthlessly roasted this big cat.
As it was, all she could do was let out the low growl unique to felines when warning off prey and enemies—a completely meaningless, blustering threat.
The Fierce Tiger slowly sat up.
Then, in an even more provocative gesture, it rested its head on its outstretched front paws, giving her a look that screamed, ‘Hurry up and run!
Why aren’t you running yet?
I’m getting bored.’
‘That’s a goddamn blatant provocation!!’
Susu fought the urge to lunge forward and scratch that big cat’s face, but she didn’t turn and run away as it wanted.
After all, she was far too close to the Fierce Tiger.
The moment she turned, her exposed back would give the beast an easy opening to pounce and snap her neck.
She wasn’t about to do something so suicidal.
Susu lifted a front paw and gave it a little shake.
Then she took a deep breath and, with a powerful push, shot forward.
She used every ounce of speed she had trained for since arriving in this world, charging unhesitatingly straight toward the Fierce Tiger.
Seeing Susu’s maneuver, the Fierce Tiger—who had been lazily waiting for the chase to begin—showed a flash of surprise in its eyes.
In that brief moment of hesitation, Susu had already raked her claws hard across its face.
She used the momentum to push off its head, performing a beautiful somersault in mid-air to land steadily behind it.
Then, she took off on all fours, bolting back into the jungle without a second glance.
A young leopard cub’s claws could hardly do any real damage to a Fierce Tiger.
But her repeated escapes, coupled with the ultimate insult of stepping on its face, had clearly made the tiger exceptionally impatient and furious.
It rose with an enraged roar and whipped around, charging after Susu in the direction she fled.
Susu had earned this chance to escape with her incredible ability to adapt in a crisis, seizing the advantage of surprise.
Unfortunately, the gap in power between her and the Fierce Tiger was simply too vast to overcome.
Even as she used every advantage at her disposal—her familiarity with the terrain, her superior agility—the distance between them was still closing, bit by bit!
