“Xiao Xue!”

While Wen Xuxue was standing by the roadside lost in thought, a voice suddenly called out from afar.

She looked over and saw Jiang Jing waving to her from across the street: “Come over here, there’s too many cars, I can’t drive through.”Full novel: Addicted to Charm, Hard to Quit — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wen Xuxue replied with a “Okay” and hurriedly ran towards her.

“Click—” the car door closed.

Jiang Jing stepped on the accelerator and asked with a smile: “First day at work, how did it feel?”

Wen Xuxue rested her chin on her hand, gazing at the traffic ahead, and said: “Just doing miscellaneous tasks, feels like I didn’t learn anything.”

Jiang Jing paused for a moment, then said: “If you want to learn more and progress faster, you could try the ‘Executive Assistant’ position.”

Wen Xuxue looked at her, puzzled: “Executive Assistant?”

Jiang Jing said: “The CEO’s assistant. It’s about staying by the boss’s side and handling some daily tasks for him. But it’s not entirely just chores; the Executive Assistant has certain decision-making and execution powers. When the CEO is absent, the Executive Assistant holds the highest authority.”

Wen Xuxue’s face fell.

That would mean going to Zhou Shijing’s side to be his assistant…

She was absolutely convinced that if she worked beside him, while doing her job, she’d end up being “done” by him.

Seeing her expression, Jiang Jing chuckled and said: “It’s fine, if you don’t want to, staying as you are now is pretty good too, just adapt for a while longer. The Executive Assistant position would definitely be much more exhausting than your current role.”

Wen Xuxue hesitated, then said: “Mm, I’ll see after working a bit longer.”

As they approached her home, Wen Xuxue asked again: “Are you going to change clothes?”

Jiang Jing shook her head: “No.”

She was wearing a black suit today, exuding a capable aura, and she was quite satisfied with it.

Wen Xuxue said: “Alright then. Wait here for me, I’ll come down after changing.”

Jiang Jing: “Okay.”

Wen Xuxue wasn’t particularly fond of cosplay.

It was just that during her middle school years, a trend had swept through her class, and she followed her classmates in wearing what adults called “strange outfits.”

At first, she was happily involved, but later, after school, she was caught by her father face-to-face.

Wen Yu sternly reprimanded her and ordered her never to dress so oddly again.

Since then, Wen Xuxue never wore such clothing again.

But that rebellious mentality of “what you can’t have always stirs desire” kept nagging at her.

She thought, now that she was grown up and not living with her parents, she definitely wanted to dress like this.

Not wanting to keep Jiang Jing waiting too long, Wen Xuxue got ready quickly.

She put on a white wig and wore a white lace dress with a fluffy tail trailing behind.

Like a noble, pure little kitten.

When she came down and opened the car door, Jiang Jing looked at her, stunned.

Wen Xuxue hadn’t dressed like this for so long that she felt nervous: “Is it… ugly? Maybe I should…”

“Very beautiful!” Jiang Jing interrupted her, “Really! Your skin is so fair, and you’re wearing all white—you’re glowing, you know? I’ve never seen Xiao Xue like this before.”

Wen Xuxue felt a bit buoyed by her praise, smiling happily even after getting out of the car.

Unfortunately, the comic convention only lasted until six in the afternoon.

When they arrived, it had just closed.

Wen Xuxue turned back and looked helplessly at her friend.

Jiang Jing patted her shoulder and said: “No worries, we can just go eat nearby, I’ll treat you.”

Wen Xuxue nodded, then walked ahead first, her snow-white tail dragging along the ground.

Jiang Jing watched her retreating figure with a doting smile, then bent down, picked up her tail, and walked forward alongside her.

However, accidents always come so quickly.

Just as Wen Xuxue reached the entrance of that high-end private club, she collided head-on with a man and a woman emerging from inside.

The man was dressed in a white long-sleeved outfit, looking rather sloppy.

The woman wore a short bodycon skirt, sexy and beautiful, yet with a hint of worldly charm.

When three pairs of eyes, six pupils, met, Wen Xuxue first felt irritation, then helplessness, and finally sighed, preparing to pretend she hadn’t seen them.

Just as she was about to pass by the two and enter, the woman refused to let it go, saying to the man beside her in a disdainful tone, “Your ex-girlfriend? Hilarious, how could she dress like such a mess?”

Wen Xuxue frowned, while Zhao Sui hesitated to speak.

But Jiang Jing stepped forward directly and slapped the woman with a sharp “smack.”

This move was far too sudden.

Of the four people present, three were stunned.

Once everyone reacted, Wen Xuxue first pulled Jiang Jing back slightly, Zhao Sui shielded the woman, then looked at Jiang Jing, wanting to say something but ultimately remaining silent.

The woman, however, had a fiery temper and immediately started shouting, “Are you insane? What gives you the right to hit me? Do you believe I’ll call the police?”

Wen Xuxue wanted to settle the matter peacefully, but Jiang Jing broke free from her grip and said, “Go ahead. Let the police officers come see what a woman who seduces someone else’s boyfriend looks like.”

The woman frowned, her tone turning unpleasant, “What woman seducing someone else’s boyfriend? Didn’t they break up?”

As she spoke, she glared sharply at Zhao Sui.

Zhao Sui could only remain silent.

Jiang Jing sneered, “Break up, my foot. Ask that scumbag beside you if he dares to break up with her? If he dares, his parents will dare to freeze his cards.”

The woman looked at Zhao Sui, trying to act coquettishly, “Honey, say something.”

Zhao Sui looked flustered, “I…”

The woman tried to push further, saying, “Why are you pretending to be mute?”

Her tone had already turned less pleasant.

Zhao Sui still stammered.

Seeing his spineless demeanor, the woman knew it was almost certainly true. Angrily, she stomped on his foot and said, “Zhao Sui, you damn scumbag, you’re really something!”

After cursing, she strode away without looking back.

Zhao Sui instinctively chased after her, took a few steps, then turned back, his expression grim. He initially wanted to blame Wen Xuxue and Jiang Jing but knew he was in the wrong.

He remained speechless for a long time, finally looking Wen Xuxue up and down with a disdainful gaze and saying, “How old are you, still wearing clothes like this? You should be ashamed, it’s hideous.”

Jiang Jing was furious, “You think you dress well? Looking all prim and proper but skinny as a monkey, with the face of a two-faced traitor.”

After cursing, still unsatisfied, she stepped forward, ready to slap him.

However, as soon as she raised her hand, Zhao Sui grabbed it. His grip was strong as he glared at her and said, “Enough. You hit one person and now want to hit another, is that it?”

Wen Xuxue hurriedly stepped forward, saying, “Let her go first.”

Zhao Sui stiffened his neck and shouted, “If I let her go, she’ll hit me.”

Wen Xuxue calmly glanced at him, then took out her phone, opened a contact, and showed it to him, saying indifferently, “Either you let go of my best friend, or I’ll call your dad and spill all the good deeds you’ve done.”

Zhao Sui gritted his teeth, finally releasing Jiang Jing, spat on the ground again, muttered “bad luck,” and turned to leave.

Jiang Jing was far from satisfied. She casually picked up a stone from the ground and hurled it outward with force.

It struck Zhao Sui squarely on the back of his head.
