By the time the man turned around in a rage, all he could see were the fleeing backs of the two girls.

They had already run into the upscale private club.

Just endure it!

Even after ordering, Jiang Jing was still fuming. “What kind of boyfriend did you find? I’m speechless—he’s a piece of garbage! No, calling him garbage insults the word ‘garbage’!”

Wen Xuxue remained calm. “You’re right.”

“Hey.” She moved to sit beside Jiang Jing and patted her shoulder. “Let’s not talk about him. This club offers massages too. Why don’t we try it after dinner?”

Jiang Jing glanced at her, surprised by her lack of emotional reaction but mostly relieved. She decided not to bring up the unpleasant topic again.

When the food arrived, the two chatted animatedly, laughing and enjoying themselves.

Meanwhile, in the private room next door.

The door was pushed open, and a pair of polished leather shoes stepped inside. The perfectly ironed suit trousers clung closely to the man’s legs as Shen Yuheng walked slowly into the room, immaculate and dignified.

His gaze swept indifferently over the two people seated inside, finally settling on Zhou Shijing, who sat upright in the center, elegantly stirring his mushroom soup with a spoon.

“I think I saw your sister just now.”

Shen Yuheng sat down quietly and spoke casually.

Zhou Shijing lifted his gaze slightly, his features appearing especially sharp under the dim light. His thin lips moved lightly. “Sister?”

Shen Yuheng countered, “Do you have many sisters?”

Zhou Shijing’s voice was cool, his tone lazy and casual. “Just that one.”

“Hmm.” Shen Yuheng said, “At the entrance. It looked like she was in some kind of conflict.”

Zhou Shijing’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly, and he instinctively stood up.

As his tall shadow fell over him, Shen Yuheng raised an eyebrow and looked up at him, his tone ambiguous. “Going to back her up?”

Zhou Shijing picked up a napkin, wiped his hands unhurriedly, and without a word, headed straight for the door.

Shen Yuheng stopped him in time. “She’s already gone.”

So Zhou Shijing halted, casually returned to his seat, and shot Shen Yuheng a brief, displeased glance before speaking slowly. “Say it earlier next time.”

Shen Yuheng took a bite of a croissant and said, “What, still not together with this sister of yours?”

A flicker of something unreadable passed through Zhou Shijing’s eyes, and he remained silent.

Shen Yuheng slowly rolled up his sleeves, picked up a ladle, and served a bowl of soup for the woman beside him. After placing it in front of her, he said, “I’ve been married to my wife for three years now, and you’re still single. Doesn’t seem right, does it?”

Zhou Shijing’s composed gaze returned to the dining table. He glanced indifferently at the opposite side.

Two sets of cutlery were placed there, the porcelain teacups even pressed close together, a picture of harmony and affection.

He pursed his lips, his voice cold. “Too busy with work. No mood for marriage.”

Shen Yuheng mercilessly exposed him. “It’s that the girl doesn’t want to be with you, isn’t it?”

Zhou Shijing’s hand holding the knife and fork paused almost imperceptibly. After a moment, he returned to normal and said calmly, “She’s just a sister, that’s all.”

Shen Yuheng’s tone rose slightly. “Just a sister, that’s all?”

Zhou Shijing looked up at him, his gaze steady as a mountain. “What about it?”

Shen Yuheng scoffed, “What kind of siblings act like you two? Zhou Shijing, don’t lie to others and end up lying to yourself.”

Zhou Shijing set down his knife and fork, gently wiping his lips with a napkin. “Are you that free lately? Free enough to meddle in other people’s family affairs?”

“Not at all,” Shen Yuheng replied, also putting down his utensils as he naturally wrapped an arm around his wife’s waist. “Lately, I’ve been busy planning a trip. My wife and I are preparing to visit Africa.”

Zhou Shijing looked up at the young couple, a flicker of something unreadable passing through his eyes.

After a moment, he replied coldly, “Who asked?”

As the dinner gradually drew to a close, Shen Yuheng stood up first. “I’ll go settle the bill.”

Zhou Shijing offered no response.

Once Shen Yuheng left, Zhou Shijing also stood up, followed by Sheng Huan, who had been sitting nearby.

The two exchanged a polite glance before pushing the door open to leave.

Coincidentally, the door next to them opened as well.

A graceful figure stepped out, and as she turned, a long white tail gently brushed against the man’s black suit pants.

Zhou Shijing paused, glancing down briefly before looking up again.

At that moment, Wen Xuxue inexplicably turned around.

Their eyes met in the dimly lit hallway.

Wen Xuxue looked surprised at first, then murmured blankly, “Older Brother.”

“Wait,” she corrected herself, “I mean, Boss.”

Zhou Shijing seemed to ignore her correction and made no comment about her attire, simply asking, “Here for dinner with friends?”

Wen Xuxue nodded obediently. “Mm-hmm.”

The brief exchange ended.

As Wen Xuxue glanced around, her gaze shifted from the man’s handsome, mature face to the beautiful, striking woman standing behind him.

Sheng Huan was wearing a black cashmere coat with a brown horse-patterned scarf draped over her shoulders.

Her fair complexion, paired with the elegant outfit and a handbag, made her look mature, poised, and breathtakingly beautiful.

Standing side by side, they appeared similar in age, both exuding a mature charm that made them a perfect match.

When Sheng Huan met Wen Xuxue’s gaze, she smiled warmly and greeted her graciously, “Hello there, little sister.”

Wen Xuxue’s body tensed unconsciously. She glanced at Zhou Shijing first, but seeing his cold, unresponsive expression, she turned back stiffly and said, “Hello.”

With that, she hurried away.

Her tail brushed against the man’s pants once more.

She ran off too quickly, flustered and panicked—something Sheng Huan, having seen her fair share of situations, could easily discern.

After a pause, she said to the man beside her, “That girl seems to have misunderstood something. Would you like me to explain it to her?”

Zhou Shijing stood still, aloof and expressionless. “No need.”

As Wen Xuxue rushed to the cashier, she brushed past Shen Yuheng, who had just finished settling the bill.

The man paused briefly, glancing at her, but she remained unaware, focused only on finding Jiang Jing.

Jiang Jing had just signed the receipt when she saw Wen Xuxue and asked, “Why are you running and panting like that?”

Wen Xuxue replied dejectedly, “I want to go home.”

She then looked down at her clearly childish and inappropriate outfit and added, “I’m never dressing like this again.”

Jiang Jing noticed her mood and quickly tucked the receipt back into her bag, then reached for her hand, asking, “What’s wrong? Did you run into someone again? Did someone say you didn’t look good in your outfit?”

Wen Xuxue walked with her toward the parking lot and replied, “No.”

Jiang Jing asked patiently, “Then why won’t you wear clothes like this anymore?”

Wen Xuxue hung her head dejectedly and simply said, “I don’t like them anymore.”

Jiang Jing knew that if Wen Xuxue didn’t want to talk about something, no amount of questioning would make her open up. So she squeezed her hand and said, “How about I come to your place tonight and sleep over?”

Wen Xuxue looked at her, her eyes glistening with moisture, and nodded obediently like a little chick pecking at rice.
