The sensation Jason and Ethan felt was something overwhelming to describe, they first felt the subtle and gentle movement of the air around them to the even more subtle disturbances in that movement from the people also in the room.
As they kept they eyes closed slowly losing themselves in this sensation the sensation became more internal almost like a resonance with their immediate environment as their hair stood up on their arms and soothing chills began to spread across their entire body.
In this resonant feeling they could sense a sort of push and pull within themselves, the push was like a protective barrier that maintained an unrecognizable balance within themselves while the pull was suppressive and constant from many different and also unrecognizable forces.
They could not see it but when Ace moved to where Amanda was for a brief moment they had felt an extremely suppressive pull that felt as though it had enough power to entirely decimate the barrier that the push sensation was creating with in themselves.
The sensation in that moment was so strong that it forced them to open their eyes at the instant onset of a headache as they both grasped their head in unison as if to protect themselves from this overwhelming force.
Sensing this change in the environment herself commander Valia looked up from her screen and shook her head, “this is why you shouldn’t be showing off in front of the recruits!” She shouted to the departing Ace as she pointed towards Ethan and Jason.
Ace looked back to see them with their faces covered and their heads down and after a quick scan with his own senses he knew they had already achieved the first level of external energy sensing.
At this he only smirked as he turned away with the limp Amanda in his arms as he went to deliver another of his trainees to the infirmary.
Seeing this the commander could only shake her head once more.
“How did you guys get stuck with a wild card like him?” She said lowly as she looked over the results from Amanda’s integration with intrigue.
At the same time Jason, and Lucile’s rings lit up indicating their analysis were complete.
Seeing this Jason shook his head as the headache seemed to fade just as quickly as it arrived.
“Good you two, will face me together.
I give you the same message I gave Jack try your best it will make this process faster.” The commander said as she swiped her hand upwards making the screen in from of her disappear.
Jason looked at Lucile who had also looked at him, neither of them looked satisfied with the arrangement but they both reluctantly got up happy that at least they didn’t have to face the commander alone.
As they walked into the open area of the large room Ace returned from the infirmary seeing both Lucile and Jason walking towards the commander.
“Just a heads up the girl has some pretty decent combat training from her father and the boy can already use his abilities somewhat.” Ace said wish a smile as he leaned on the wall near the entrance.
Hearing this the commander only gave a side glance towards Ace before asking, “are you two ready?” Jason and Lucile gave one last look at eachother before looking back at the commander and nodding.
With that the commander rushed in moving almost as they had seen her move in the second round fighting with Jack.
She first approached Jason who was ready for her assault, but despite his preparedness the commanders abilities were just too overwhelming.
He tried to slow her momentum with his ability but the commander effortlessly pushed through his ability like it was child’s play causing Ethan to feel like he had been hit by a wall before she even made contact with him.
The recoil from her breaking through his ability was enough to make him fall to a single knee while the commander showed no mercy as her boot connected cleanly with his ribcage lifting him back up before sending him tumbling away.
Seeing this Lucile didn’t wait or hesitate as she moved in to engage the commander and slow her assault only to see the overwhelming difference in their abilities.
She attempted to hit the commander in the face with the butt of her palm while she was still on one leg after kicking Jason, only to no avail.
The commander continued the momentum of her kick without resetting her foot giving Amanda the same rib kick Jason had recieved sending her reeling on a path perpendicular to the direction Jason had tumbled.
Jason was recovering when he had seen Amanda receive the same kick he had gotten hit by.
‘I need to change my strategy.’ He thought to himself as he attempted to use his ability to reinforce his own strength pushing off his legs with his muscles while also propelling himself telekinetically as fast as he possibly could.
He moved at a speed that was comprable to the fastest they had seen the commander move to everyone’s surprise including the commander.
As he reached the commander he attempted a sloppy hook which the commander narrowly dodged catching him and using his own momentum against him throwing him onto the ground causing him to cough violently.
“Don’t tell me you’re this fragile time travel boy.” The commander said as she moved to kick Jason while he was down.
Jason hearing and seeing the commanders earlier fight knew he couldn’t stop because of the pain.
Despite coughing violently and being in immense pain he had already began to reinforce his body in the same manner he had done a moment ago rolling from the ground and jumping a couple of meters into the air spooking himself from the height he had jumped.
At the same time Lucile had also recovered and was back attacking the commander seeing her focus wasn’t on her.
As the commanders kick missed Jason Lucile found herself running directly into it taking the full force of a planted kick this time sending her reeling in more pain than the first kick.
“Integration complete beginning amplification.” Sounded twice in the room as both Jason and Lucile felt and immense flow of energy.
“That was dirty Valia, act like you’re going for Jason to bait Lucile into that.” Ace said as he chuckled slightly while shaking his head looking aptly as his two students.
The energy Jason felt was so powerful that the elementary reinforcement he was using his ability to do was now holding him suspended in the air.
Lucile on the other hand had began to emit a faint light that continued to grow brighter with each passing moment before slowly beginning to dim.
Feeling this new energy Jason and Lucile briefly locked eyes before they both rushed the commander in sync.
Jason not in full control of his ability shot right past the commander crashing into Lucile who was running full speed towards the commander causing both of them to tumble and roll over and under eachother before landing separately a couple feet away from one another.
Seeing this the commander burst into laughter as she pointed at the two new recruits, “haha you two have great potential, don’t let that tenacity die I look forward to working with you two, go meditate on your integration I will feel bad sending Ace’s entire team to the infirmary.” Hearing this Lucile who was about to berate Jason breathed a sigh of relief seeing the commander wasn’t attacking them like a demon in the night.
Jason also relaxed from the tense state he was in.
Breathing a sigh of relief.
After deeply relaxing both of them could feel it, the energy within themselves had grown immense but the pain and fatigue from the short bout felt like they had experienced back to back car accidents.
They sluggishly got to their feet and slowly walked to the seating area on the side of the room.
“Thanks for not trying to kill is, why did you beat up Jack so badly though.” Lucile said weakly as she slumped into her said kicking her feet out relaxing to the fullest she could in that moment.
“He seemed like the toughest out of all of you also it was the best way to prepare you guys for what’s to come within and outside of this organization.
Outside of the FBSA nearly every combat encounter can be a life or death battle, because of that I will not allow any recruits that come through here to not have a taste of what is to come.” The commander said in a solemn tone while looking directly at Lucile and glancing over the group.
After hearing this the group felt as though they had recieved yet another reality check that the world wasn’t just changing, their worlds had already changed and there was no going back.
