Kong Ning began to regret her actions. She noticed that ever since that day, Wei Mu refused to pay any attention to her whatsoever.
She had originally thought that the next time Wei Mu invited her out to eat, she would definitely agree and apologize properly during the meal.
On November 12th, Kong Ning, who hadn’t received a message from Wei Mu in a long time, sent a tentative text.
Kong Ning: Want to get food? A new Xinjiang BBQ place opened at the back gate.
No response.
On November 13th.
Kong Ning: I went by myself yesterday. It was honestly super delicious. Next time you want to eat, I’ll take you.
No response.
On November 14th.
Kong Ning: How about Japanese food today? I heard from Le Xiu that there’s a shop with great food. If you want to go, I’ll take you.
Kong Ning knew Wei Mu loved Japanese food.
No response.
On November 15th.
Kong Ning: Are you really not going to talk to me anymore? Actually, I know another hidden gem. It’s super delicious, my personal secret stash that I usually don’t tell anyone about.
No response.
On November 16th.
Kong Ning: Hey, ignoring me like this is getting impolite, huh? Last chance to say something, huh? There’s a decent hotpot place by the back gate… reply quick.
No response.
On November 17th.
Kong Ning: A slow reply is fine too. Very last chance to say…
No response.
On November 18th.
Kong Ning: Very, very, very last chance to say…
No response.
Just like that, the “cowardly” Kong Ning spent half a month testing the waters. Her messages grew longer and longer, but it was all useless; she didn’t get a single reply.
On the sixteenth day, after waiting for an hour without a response as usual, Kong Ning gave up.
As it turned out, Kong Ning truly knew she was in the wrong. Otherwise, on the very first day Wei Mu ignored her, her little mouth would have definitely been jabbering away, loudly complaining to Le Xiu and the others about her “arch-nemesis” being “unreasonable” and concluding that her “arch-nemesis was just too much.”
But she had already lowered herself this much, did Wei Mu expect her to get down on her knees!
Kong Ning tossed her phone onto the desk and finally began to vent.
She had been holding it in for half a month.
The tsundere little CEO Kong Ning threw a temper tantrum that was unlike anyone else’s.
She was a considerate person.
She didn’t kick her chair, it was too expensive and newly bought.
She didn’t kick the trash can, she would be scolded; it was communal dorm property.
She didn’t smash her cup, if it broke, she wouldn’t have anything to drink water out of.
So, Kong Ning tore tissues. She even specifically tore only one sheet at a time, tearing too many was wasteful, and she had to be environmentally friendly.
And so, we watch our little CEO Kong intently tearing that thin piece of tissue paper. She first divided the single sheet into five layers.
Indeed, it was the extra-thick variety, Kong Ning’s carefully selected choice, comfortable and easy to use.
Afterward, she tore each layer into one-centimeter-wide strips. With every tear, she uttered a complaint, her fast-talking mouth moving at an incredible speed.
Once she finally finished tearing them all, Kong Ning started a second round, tearing the one-centimeter strips into half-centimeter ones, and so on, over and over again.
Kong Ning felt that her absolute limit was one millimeter.
“Is there some kind of mistake?! Exactly what rule of heaven did I break?!”
Riiip,
“It’s simply too much, simply ridiculous, simply putting on grand airs!”
Riiip,
“If I ever stick my face out to cater to her again, I’m an idiot!”
Riiip,
In the dormitory, everyone was stunned by Kong Ning’s sudden breakdown. What kind of sane person suddenly lost their mind like this? Wasn’t she just playing on her phone normally a moment ago?
Besides, tissues really weren’t expensive. Kong Ning, feel free to tear them generously.
If she tore them into larger pieces, they wouldn’t even be that scared.
Tearing them so tiny made it feel like Kong Ning was going to mutate in the next second.
Shen Nanxi even shut her laptop. She was afraid Kong Ning would come over and smash it; there were quite a few chapter drafts saved inside.
Le Xiu once again looked in shock at the gloomy Kong Ning sitting in her seat. The upper half of Kong Ning’s body was practically sprawled over the desk.
Tearing paper like that, she resembled Sadako.
A few minutes later, looking at Kong Ning’s desk covered in tiny white paper scraps, Le Xiu opened and closed her mouth several times. Under Yu Lingbo’s approving nod, she finally spoke up.
“Xiao Kong, have you been… feeling a bit stressed lately? Or maybe, not very… happy???”
Le Xiu didn’t dare say the phrase “Did your mental illness flare up?” for fear that the insane zombie Kong Ning would suddenly go wild and bite someone.
“No, I’m purely, hehe, purely happy.”
Looking at Kong Ning’s dark, eerie smile, no one believed her for a second.
“How about tomorrow we go out together for a nice meal to relax? It just so happens we made plans to eat with Ning Qing and her roommates tomorrow, it’d be great if everyone hung out together,” Le Xiu continued.
“Not eating! Food is to blame for everything!”
Kong Ning viciously snapped several tiny strips of paper. Infuriating! What was all this about anyway? She hadn’t done it on purpose, so why was Wei Mu avoiding her?
“I am going to block her path tomorrow!!!” Kong Ning roared, slamming her hand on the desk.
“If I don’t corner her, I…” Kong Ning was about to stand up and swear an oath.
Her voice came to an abrupt halt.
“Wait, what did you just say?” Kong Ning turned around, catching a key piece of information, and asked Le Xiu.
“That we go eat something good?” Le Xiu hesitated. Had she said anything extraordinary? Wasn’t it just about eating out again?
“The next sentence.”
“That we happened to make plans to eat with Ning Qing and her roommates?” Le Xiu asked back.
“Oh, then let’s go. Remember to tell Ning Qing that tomorrow is my treat, and every single member of her dorm must attend.” Kong Ning suddenly became rational, replying calmly as her clenched fists opened up, and her furious expression softened into composure.
Kong Ning was no longer throwing a fit.
“Ah? Oh.” Le Xiu nodded mechanically.
“Which restaurant?” Taking her phone back into her hands, Kong Ning asked offhandedly, picking up the trash can at the same time to clean up the mess on her desk.
The month wasn’t over yet, and she still had to clean the dorm. Kong Ning temporarily had no time to sweep the floor.
“Uhh… Xingyu Restaurant,” Le Xiu replied. The topic had shifted too fast, and the situation had changed so drastically. Could a person really be such a drama queen? She couldn’t quite process it.
“Sounds good.” As she spoke, Kong Ning was so pleased that she lightly hummed a few lines of song lyrics.
“Today is a good day~”
“In the second month, the spring stretches for ten thousand miles~”
Even though the lyrics didn’t really connect and weren’t even from the same song, perhaps even lines Kong Ning made up herself, anyone could tell she was in a great mood.
Le Xiu, Yu Lingbo, and Shen Nanxi: …You sneaky fraud.
What a lunatic! Doing a face-changing act here, Kong Ning, you should go learn Sichuan Opera instead.
Kong Ning didn’t care about the “split personality” image she had established in her roommates’ minds. Her hands didn’t stop as she hurriedly sent a message to Wei Mu.
Kong Ning: Let’s go eat tomorrow. Seriously, both our dorms are going together at Xingyu Restaurant. How could you not go? It wouldn’t look good. Everyone is going together, alright? You have to come! You can leave me on read, as long as you show up in person.
Kong Ning had long since taken back the harsh words she had just uttered.
What idiot? She wasn’t an idiot.
She wasn’t catering to anyone; she was simply amicably notifying a good friend to attend tomorrow’s gathering, fearing Ning Qing and the others might forget to tell her.
She was so kindhearted.
As for why it had to be both dorms together, Kong Ning didn’t care, it just had to be. Since she was going, Wei Mu had to go as well. Worst case, she would drag Shen Nanxi along too, cementing the fact that it was a joint dorm gathering. So thought Kong Ning, who usually never attended any gatherings.
“Don’t you think she’s gotten even weirder?” Le Xiu said to Yu Lingbo. Right now, Kong Ning was holding her phone with a sinister smile, which was still quite terrifying.
“Yeah,” Yu Lingbo nodded, though she wasn’t worried.
Who else could make Kong Ning act like this? Connecting the cause and effect, thinking about it made it obvious who it was. Yu Lingbo smiled; it made sense for it to be weird.
She didn’t know how Kong Ning had managed to make Wei Mu angry, considering the latter usually seemed to have a very good temper.
Having guessed something similar, Shen Nanxi, who was continuing to type out her novel, felt a chill radiating from Kong Ning. Nothing terrible was going to happen, right?
Nothing terrible happened, but she could kiss her advance chapters for tomorrow and the day after goodbye.
The next day, Shen Nanxi rolled her eyes as she looked at Kong Ning dragging her out the door by the arm. She genuinely wanted to hit someone. She cast another reluctant look at her computer and keyboard.
She couldn’t win a fight against Kong Ning, she couldn’t beat her at all.
Farewell, my word processor~
The “feeble” Shen Nanxi decided that she would exercise more in the future. She never wanted to be hauled away like a little chick ever again.
Kong Ning got her wish and saw Wei Mu. Although it was the cold-faced Wei Mu she hadn’t seen in a long time, at least she saw her, which was a good thing.
She figured that since Wei Mu was willing to come, she was probably willing to make up. However, Kong Ning had completely miscalculated.
Ignoring her, ignoring her, just ignoring her completely.
After everyone exchanged greetings and Le Xiu and her group introduced Shen Nanxi to Ning Qing, Guo Tong, and Jiang Youyang, they all went into the restaurant to eat.
Because Ning Qing, Guo Tong, Jiang Youyang, Le Xiu, and Yu Lingbo had gathered together so many times before, as the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together, the atmosphere wasn’t awkward at all despite the presence of three people who rarely or never came along. The walk to the private dining room was very lively.
Linking arms here and holding hands there.
Amidst the commotion, Kong Ning made a point to sit right next to Wei Mu.
After Kong Ning sat down, Wei Mu shifted one seat to the side. Kong Ning followed and shifted too. Wei Mu shifted again, and Kong Ning shifted again.
Wei Mu shifted yet again…
“I say, Xiao Kong, that’s enough. Stop chasing her, there are no seats left, ” Looking at Wei Mu next to her, who looked like she was about to snatch her seat, Le Xiu chose to condemn the pursuer, Kong Ning, first. There were empty seats everywhere, so why chase after Wei Mu?
“I’m not chasing her, I just like switching seats.” Kong Ning simply sat right where she was, staring at Wei Mu mournfully, looking every bit like a forsaken concubine abandoned by her emperor.
Your Majesty~ I just made one mistake, you really don’t have to banish me to the Cold Palace! Just give me a chance to regain your favor
Emperor Wei was ruthless, merely casting a cold glance at her.
Liar.
Everyone else: Watching the drama.
Now Wei Mu’s entire dorm, as well as the slow-witted Le Xiu, finally realized that this fellow Kong Ning had angered the eldest young lady of the Wei family.
Wei Mu didn’t say a word. She silently walked over to the seat furthest from Kong Ning and avoided eye contact with her the entire time.
Kong Ning pouted her lips angrily, reflecting on herself once more. Why did she feel like Wei Mu’s anger this time was even more severe than when she altered her university preferences back then? Kong Ning felt the two situations couldn’t be equated at all; she had definitely not done it on purpose this time.
Finding no flavor in the food, Kong Ning lost her appetite, not even reaching for her beloved braised ribs.
She, Kong Ning the little overlord, had a temper too.
If you ignore me, fine, I won’t ignore you either! Kong Ning was naturally someone who liked to dig her heels in.
Petty little thing, Wei Mu. Getting angry out of nowhere every time. She glared, glared, and glared.
No response.
After finishing the meal, the other five suggested going to karaoke. The minority yielded to the majority. Kong Ning walked far behind Wei Mu. Once they arrived at the venue, she turned her head away so as not to look at Wei Mu either. The two of them sat like two statues at opposite ends of the sofa.
“Hand over the microphone!” Holding her ground, Le Xiu grabbed a mic as soon as she arrived and started singing.
“My goodness, sister, you’re a love song queen! I want to sing with you too.” Ning Qing, who got the second mic, immediately joined in.
Guo Tong and Yu Lingbo quickly joined them as well.
