When Jin Chenyue arrived at the hospital, Gu Anyun had already been transferred to a VIP ward.

The driver had a minor cut on his forehead, but a CT scan showed no issues.

Gu Anyun, however, was less fortunate.Full novel: After Crashing My Brain, I Became a Flirty Expert to Tease My Confused Ex-Husband — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She had been sitting in the back seat without a seatbelt, and the collision occurred on her side. Her head suffered an impact, and she lost consciousness immediately.

At the hospital, the attending physician promptly conducted a series of examinations. A large bump had formed on the back of her head. Aware of her esteemed status, the doctor hesitated to draw conclusions hastily and ordered a series of detailed tests, including an MRI. Fortunately, the results were positive.

After listening to the doctor’s report, Jin Chenyue looked at the pale, unconscious figure and remained uneasy.

He called Shen Zhilu, asking him to come in person.

As an obstetrician-gynecologist, Shen Zhilu found Jin Chenyue’s request rather absurd, but out of brotherly loyalty, he still came.

Communication between doctors was much smoother. After discussing the situation with Gu Anyun’s attending physician, Shen Zhilu repeatedly assured Jin Chenyue that there were no apparent functional impairments in Gu Anyun’s body. Her unconscious state was likely due to extreme shock.

Jin Chenyue listened and responded with a faint acknowledgment before finally allowing the attending physician to leave the room.

Noticing the slight relaxation in Jin Chenyue’s expression, Shen Zhilu raised an eyebrow slightly. “Have you ever considered that this might be fate?”

Jin Chenyue frowned. “If the price of not divorcing is gambling with her life, I’d rather stay single forever.”

Shen Zhilu chuckled. “What’s the use of telling me? You should say that to her face!”

Jin Chenyue: “…”

Shen Zhilu stared at him, smiling. “You like her, don’t you?”

Jin Chenyue’s brow furrowed, but his ears involuntarily turned red.

Shen Zhilu knew he had guessed correctly. He glanced at Gu Anyun on the hospital bed and sighed softly. “Then why not tell her?”

Jin Chenyue: “Shut up.”

“Afraid of rejection?”

The man shot him a sharp glare. “When did you become as gossipy as Fu Chuanzhou?”

Shen Zhilu: “…Forget it, pretend I never said anything.”

…

They had expected Gu Anyun to wake up soon, but to their surprise, she remained unconscious for three days.

During these three days, Jin Chenyue never relaxed for a moment. One attending physician after another was consulted, and experts came and went, all assuring him that she was fine. As for why she hadn’t woken up, even the experts couldn’t explain.

Shen Zhilu, as a brother and currently on duty at the hospital, had been busy running around for the past three days.

On the afternoon of the third day, after seeing off another expert, Jin Chenyue and Shen Zhilu returned to the ward together.

Outside the ward, Shen Zhilu paused. “You go in alone. I won’t go in.”

“Are you afraid of her?”

“She…” Shen Zhilu laughed awkwardly. “She’s too cold. Around her, I instantly lose all social skills.”

Jin Chenyue couldn’t argue with that.

Since marrying into the Jin family, Gu Anyun had always been cold and distant, even though she had been such a lively and adorable girl in her childhood.

“She just doesn’t like the identity of Mrs. Jin. After the divorce, she might be willing to return to her true self.”

Shen Zhilu waved his hand. “You, the soon-to-be ex-husband, worry more than anyone else. Go in, I’m leaving.”

Jin Chenyue acknowledged with a faint sound and stepped into the ward.

A nurse was inside, taking Gu Anyun’s temperature.”Mr. Jin.” The nurse recognized Jin Chenyue. Those assigned to care for the young mistress of the Jin family were the most reliable and trustworthy staff in the hospital.

Jin Chenyue looked at the woman lying unconscious on the hospital bed, his expression far from relaxed. “How is she?”

“37.8 degrees Celsius, still a slight fever.”

Jin Chenyue loosened his collar. “I understand. You may leave.”

“I’ll step out then. If you need anything, just press the call button and I’ll come right in.”

“Thank you.”

“You’re too kind, Young Master Jin. It’s our duty.” After saying this, the nurse pushed the medical cart out of the room.

Jin Chenyue walked to the bedside and sat down.

Because Gu Anyun had a swollen bump on the back of her head, the nurse had positioned her lying on her side with a pillow supporting her back.

Jin Chenyue reached out and gently touched her face.

Her face was small. Now, unconscious and without the deliberately feigned coldness she displayed when awake, she appeared much more youthful.

“Does staying by my side make you so unhappy?”

He spoke to himself, naturally receiving no response from her.

She had been unconscious for three days. Jin Chenyue knew that if this continued, they wouldn’t be able to hide it from their parents any longer.

So, he proactively called both sets of elders and told them the truth.

Upon hearing about the car accident, the elders were anxious to rush to the hospital, but Jin Chenyue stopped them. The doctor had advised rest and quiet, and their presence wouldn’t help and might disturb Gu Anyun.

Only after repeatedly confirming that Gu Anyun was not seriously injured did the parents give up on the idea of coming to the hospital immediately.

After hanging up the phone, Jin Chenyue turned around and unexpectedly met a pair of clear, bright eyes.

He put away his phone and walked over. “When did you wake up?”

Gu Anyun sat on the bed, staring at him without blinking.

“What’s wrong?” Jin Chenyue sensed something unusual about her and thought she might be uncomfortable. “Do you have a headache?”

Gu Anyun shook her head.

Jin Chenyue frowned, watching Gu Anyun for a moment before finally noticing something amiss.

His expression suddenly changed.

Could she have lost her memory from the impact?

The man’s breathing softened. “Do you remember who you are?”

Hearing this, the woman chuckled. “Even though I hit my head, asking that is still a bit exaggerated! I’m fine, my memory is intact!”

Jin Chenyue let out a slight sigh of relief. “That’s good.”

“What do you mean ‘good’?” Gu Anyun’s delicate brows furrowed slightly, her tone tinged with dissatisfaction.

Jin Chenyue looked at her, puzzled.

Gu Anyun waited, but seeing that he didn’t grasp her meaning at all, she snorted coldly and then raised her arms. “I’ve survived a disaster. Why aren’t you hugging me?”

Jin Chenyue: “!”

Wait, something seems off?!

He stared at Gu Anyun, his Adam’s apple bobbing with difficulty. “Do you… do you know what you’re saying?”

Gu Anyun wrinkled her nose, her eyes reddening as she looked pitiful and aggrieved. “Husband, my head hurts. Hug me, please~”

Jin Chenyue: “…”
