12 – Does Mr. Fu have a girlfriend?

With these thoughts in mind, Fu Qibai’s expression was far from pleasant.

Unfortunately, Xu Ni simply refused to see him. A one-sided breakup, delivered so decisively and ruthlessly, left no room for reconciliation!Full novel: After Mistakenly Provoking the Big Shot, She Became the First Lady of the Beijing Circle — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Fu Guidu ground the cigarette butt under his foot. “As you wish,” he said.

With that, he turned and walked away.

His indifference left no room for further argument.

Fu Qibai watched his retreating figure under the flickering firelight, his brow furrowing deeply.

Fu Guidu’s return to the country had caught several families off guard.

Now he had already taken up the position of Vice President at Jingsheng Hospital. What would come next?

Fu Guidu had studied medicine since childhood, but the Fu family’s roots ran deep, and their business empire was vast. Could he truly swallow it all?

But for now, Fu Qibai couldn’t dwell on that.

Xu Ni’s matter was enough to give him a headache.

His family was pressuring him relentlessly to marry. Xu Ni wasn’t the candidate they had in mind, so they would never agree to the marriage. Yet, he couldn’t bear to let her go. Even if it meant defying his father and keeping Xu Ni as an outside mistress, he was willing to try. As for the future wife his family would choose, in his eyes, she would merely be a tool for mutual benefit in business affairs. Love was unnecessary.

Xu Ni sat alone in the pitch-black car. In the distance, laughter and chatter continued unabated. Accustomed to the darkness, she observed the vehicle.

It was Fu Guidu’s car.

Earlier, when Fu Qibai had approached, he had given her the car keys.

Xu Ni couldn’t help but wonder: What did Fu Guidu mean by this? Why would he help her slip away, leaving her this opening?

His thoughts were truly inscrutable.

The car door opened.

A wave of cool cedarwood scent wafted in, mingled with a faint trace of tobacco, creating an atmosphere of restless anticipation in the boundless darkness of the deep night.

Xu Ni turned her head.

He had already settled into the driver’s seat.

With a soft thud as the door closed, her heart gave a little jump. The two of them were now completely sealed within this cramped, confined space. The air flowed with the sound of their intermingled breaths.

For some reason, the nape of Xu Ni’s neck felt warm.

What was going on?

This delicate atmosphere truly made her feel as if they were having a secret tryst.

Intriguing.

Too intriguing.

After a moment, he seemed to glance sideways slightly. “Where to?”

Xu Ni snapped back to attention, clearing her throat softly. “Xishan Courtyard, Block B, No. 108.”

The car started.

It seemed there was no further movement.

Xu Ni was truly restless, practically fidgeting.

As the car navigated the small road leading out of the equestrian club, his face was briefly illuminated by a passing streetlamp. His expression remained unreadable, possessing a kind of clear yet unfathomable icy smoothness. His features, his aura, even his every subtle breath seemed like a swirling vortex, an irresistible force of attraction.

Amidst the slight jolts of the ride, Xu Ni asked, “Leaving now… won’t it spoil your enjoyment for the evening?”

Fu Guidu took a moment to pull out a wet wipe and handed it to her. “Not at all,” he said, pausing briefly before adding in a matter-of-fact tone, “Wipe it off.”

Xu Ni stared at his exquisitely beautiful hand. Even the way the wet wipe rested on his fingertips carried an indescribable sense of lingering intimacy. She was momentarily stunned. “Huh?”

This time.

Fu Guidu cast a glance her way, his thoughtful gaze settling on the nape of her neck. “Isn’t it uncomfortable?”

The image of that enormous horse’s face flashed before her eyes, along with its lolling tongue.

Xu Ni: “…”

She sheepishly took the wipe, lifted her hair, and began to clean the spot.

She had been licked by a horse, yet she had mistaken it for a French kiss. He had clearly seen through her thoughts.

This wasn’t an equestrian club; it was a palace she had dug out with her own toes from sheer embarrassment.

After finishing, she crumpled the wipe in her palm and asked nonchalantly, “I heard Mr. Fu has only recently returned to the country. Will you be staying in Jinggang long-term in the future?”

“Most likely.”

“Does Mr. Fu have a girlfriend?”

Xu Ni naturally had her own principles.

She was used to being unruly and undisciplined, but if someone was already taken, she would give up on her own.

“Not for now.”

Four calm and casual words.

Xu Ni: “…?”

For now…?

Huh?

Huh huh??
