13 – Chapter 13

As soon as Ning Yun’ai stepped off the plane, he spotted Shi Yan and You Xin waiting to pick him up.

His peach blossom eyes crinkled behind sunglasses as he whistled and walked over with his luggage. “A Yan, have you come all the way to the airport just to intercept me?”Full novel: After Rebirth, President Bo Tears Up the Scumbag Script and Kneels to Win Back His Wife — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Young Master Ning, President Bo is waiting for you at Brocade Garden,” Shi Yan adjusted his glasses with a light laugh.

Ning Yun’ai slung an arm over Shi Yan’s shoulder. “Alright then, what does your master want this time?”

“You’ll know when we arrive. This way, please.” Shi Yan removed Ning Yun’ai’s arm.

You Xin jumped up indignantly. “Hey! Can’t you see me?! I’m here too!”

A glint of amusement flashed in Ning Yun’ai’s eyes as he deliberately continued talking to Shi Yan. “Did I just hear a little bird chirping?”

“Shi Yan, did you hear that?”

You Xin glared at him, puffing his cheeks. “Who are you calling a little bird?!”

Shi Yan sighed helplessly, rolling his eyes as he walked outside.

Every time Doctor Ning visited, he would bicker with Young Master Xin, always using him as a pawn.

It seemed he should learn from Bo Xiyuan – if he kept a cold face, Doctor Ning wouldn’t dare.

When the three returned to Brocade Garden, Ning Yun’ai seemed nostalgic. “This Brocade Garden… it’s nice, but it lacks vitality.”

“Hey, maybe I should move in too?”

“No way!” You Xin protested loudly. “You’re not allowed to live here!”

Ning Yun’ai looked at the bright-eyed You Xin and deliberately teased him. “I insist on staying here.”

“You don’t own Brocade Garden. I’ll go talk to Jinye about it later.”

You Xin chuckled. “Fine, fine, go ahead and tell him.”

His fourth brother has gone stupid anyway, let’s see how you’ll manage!

As the three rounded the bamboo grove, they immediately saw Bo Jinye sitting on a swing with An Sheng, wearing a flower crown she had woven for him.

His handsome face wore a foolish grin.

Ning Yun’ai: “…”

Who is this?

“I didn’t know Jinye had a twin brother?” Ning Yun’ai managed to say with difficulty.

Shi Yan suppressed a laugh. “As you know, President Bo doesn’t have a twin brother.”

“Then he’s…” Ning Yun’ai took a horrified step back.

You Xin glanced at him. “My fourth brother has gone stupid.”

“Why do you think we called you here otherwise?”

Ning Yun’ai gasped. “What?!”

An Sheng took the flower crown from Bo Jinye’s head and put it on her own, her eyes sweeping over the three opposite them. “We have guests, A Ye.”

Bo Jinye buried himself in An Sheng’s arms, whining. “Don’t know them, don’t like them.”

An Sheng curved her lips. “But we need to entertain our guests, A Ye. It’s impolite otherwise. Let’s go to the living room.”

Bo Jinye stood up with An Sheng, shooting a warning glance at Shi Yan and Ning Yun’ai when the girl wasn’t looking.

His act could easily fool a simpleton like You Xin.

But it probably wouldn’t fool someone as sharp as Ning Yun’ai.

Ning Yun’ai was a psychologist renowned abroad. Having lived overseas for so long, few in the country knew of him.

And almost no one knew that Ning Yun’ai was equally accomplished in thoracic and neurosurgery.

Meeting Bo Jinye’s gaze, Ning Yun’ai narrowed his eyes and glanced at Shi Yan.

Shi Yan remained silent until You Xin had run into the living room, then said quietly, “President Bo has his own plans. I’m sure you can tell, Young Master Ning.”

Ning Yun’ai looked thoughtful. “Who’s that beside him?”

“Little Madam, An Sheng.” Shi Yan gestured for him to enter.

“An Sheng?” Ning Yun’ai thought for a moment before remembering who she was. “Strange, didn’t Jinye dislike her?””I like him a lot now.” Shi Yan smiled slightly.

Ning Yun’ai raised an eyebrow playfully. “Why the sudden change of heart?”

“You’ll have to ask President Bo about that.”

The group entered the living room, where An Sheng asked the servant to serve chilled tea. “May I know how to address our guest?”

An Sheng actually knew Ning Yun’ai quite well.

With Shen Yan as her apprentice specializing in thoracic surgery, plus Shen Yan being an external consultant herself, it was impossible not to know Ning Yun’ai.

Come to think of it, Shen Yan seemed to have some history with this Doctor Ning. If Doctor Ning returned to practice, he’d probably work at Qinghe Hospital too.

That would be quite a spectacle.

With Shen Yan’s explosive temper, she’d likely become the first doctor ever fired for getting into a physical fight.

“Ning Yun’ai, friend of the big dummy beside you. I’m a doctor, but don’t come to me for minor ailments like headaches or colds.” Ning Yun’ai smiled as he took off his sunglasses.

Bo Jinye scowled. “You’re the big dummy.”

“Oh, not so dumb after all – you actually understood what I said.” Ning Yun’ai looked at the man with surprise.

An Sheng felt slightly displeased but maintained a light smile. “A Ye recently learned a new skill – understanding animal language.”

“A Ye can now understand both human speech and animal sounds, isn’t that right A Ye?”

Bo Jinye hummed and hugged An Sheng, nodding seriously. “Mm!”

“Sheng Sheng speaks human, he speaks bird talk, dog barks, pig grunts!”

You Xin laughed rudely without restraint. “Ahahaha, yes yes yes, Fourth Brother is right!”

Ning Yun’ai’s face fell. “Well played, Bo Jinye.”

Shi Yan, catching his boss’s meaningful look, coughed. “Doctor Ning, when the president contacted you earlier, he wanted to ask you to give Little Madam a comprehensive physical examination. He doesn’t trust anyone else with this.”

“When would be convenient for you?”

An Sheng was taken aback. “For me? A physical? Why?”

Shi Yan coughed again, speaking under pressure. “The president is just concerned there might be some underlying health issues, so we can address them early.”

“He instructed me to arrange this before the accident, but Doctor Ning was busy abroad, so it got delayed for half a month.”

“The president is just worried about Little Madam, nothing else.”

Bo Jinye clearly enunciated two words beside them: “Preparing for pregnancy…”

“Pfft—” You Xin sprayed juice all over himself.

He started coughing violently.

An Sheng also flushed, turning to look amusedly at Bo Jinye. “What are you saying, A Ye?”

“Talking about what I want to do with Sheng Sheng.” The man’s eyes sparkled, his thin lips moving as he leaned close to An Sheng and quickly kissed her.

Then he buried his face in An Sheng’s neck as if shy.

You Xin stood up and slipped away. “Fourth Brother really has no bottom line since he lost his senses.”

“I shouldn’t be hearing this, shouldn’t be hearing this.”

Ning Yun’ai came back to his senses with a strange expression. “Well, even though you’ve lost your wits, you still know how to prepare for pregnancy?”

Bo Jinye nuzzled An Sheng’s neck, then lifted his head with extreme seriousness. “I know! Mother said, sleeping together.”

“Then we can have a baby.”

An Sheng facepalmed. “Madam must have had quite a task, teaching you these things. When did she teach you?”

Bo Jinye looked confused, thinking for a moment. “When we talked about arranged marriage.”

An Sheng stared at him for two beats, then chuckled lightly. “I see…”

“Since A Ye wants it, I’ll do the physical then. Sorry to trouble you, Doctor Ning.”

“I’m curious though, what kind of doctor are you exactly, Doctor Ning?”Ning Yun’ai took a sip of iced tea. “I’m capable of anything…”

An Sheng smiled faintly. “That’s truly impressive.”

“But I have one condition—I want to live in Brocade Garden. It’s so spacious, surely there’s room for me?”

As Ning Yun’ai spoke, he glanced toward the staircase.

You Xin was peeking from there, eavesdropping.

An Sheng looked at Bo Jinye. “What does A Ye think?”

After nuzzling contentedly in An Sheng’s embrace, Bo Jinye grunted reluctantly.

If he refused, Ning Yun’ai might expose him in front of An Sheng.

That simply wouldn’t do!

Ning Yun’ai stretched comfortably. “I’ve always wanted to stay at Brocade Garden for a while. Thanks! I’ll go pick a room now.”

You Xin immediately jumped out. “You can’t go to the side building! That’s where I live!”

Ning Yun’ai curled his lips. “Oh? Then that’s exactly where I’m going.”

The two bantered and roughhoused as they headed that way. Shi Yan glanced at Bo Jinye before picking up Ning Yun’ai’s luggage to follow.

Bo Jinye leaned against An Sheng’s shoulder, hugging her while whining. “Don’t like it… so many people.”

“Too many people!”

An Sheng watched the childlike Bo Jinye, inwardly marveling at how skillfully the man could act spoiled.

He pretended so convincingly.

Unaware of An Sheng’s thoughts, Bo Jinye continued clinging to her with soft complaints, then cautiously moved closer seeking a kiss.

An Sheng pacified him with a gentle kiss. “What would you like to eat later?”

“Eat Sheng Sheng.” Bo Jinye immediately tried to nibble her rosy soft lips.

But An Sheng pinned him to the sofa instead. “Then you’ll just stay hungry.”

After returning to the country, Ning Yun’ai indeed joined Qinghe Hospital’s neurosurgery department as a contracted specialist for three years.

When Shen Yan found out, she was furious, calling An Sheng in a huff. “Master! When are you going to make your move? I don’t want that Ning Yun’ai working at the same hospital as me.”

An Sheng was reading on the balcony. “He’s in neurosurgery, you’re in thoracic surgery—you’re not even in the same department. What are you worried about?”

“Although you often tied with him academically, I’ve taught you plenty too.”

Shen Yan reconsidered. “Then Master, is Ning Yun’ai really living at Brocade Garden?”

“Mm. I’m going to Qinghe for a check-up tomorrow—don’t slip up,” An Sheng reminded.

Shen Yan was startled. “Ah, Master! Are you sick?”

“No, I’m getting examined to prepare for pregnancy,” An Sheng chuckled softly.

She wasn’t planning to conceive immediately, roughly understanding Bo Jinye’s concerns.

He was probably worried about the contraceptive pills she’d taken years ago.

But so many years had passed—those pills shouldn’t cause issues anymore.

An Sheng felt a twinge of regret. If she hadn’t taken them back then, might she have gotten pregnant much earlier?

With her capabilities, hiding a pregnancy from Bo Jinye would have been trivial.

But she didn’t want her child to be sent away to be raised elsewhere like she had been during her own childhood.

There would be plenty of opportunities later.

Hearing An Sheng mention pregnancy preparations, Shen Yan shot up from her office chair. “Master?!”

“How could you still want to have that scum’s child?!”

An Sheng held the phone away, waiting for Shen Yan to finish shouting before responding amusedly. “Who else would I have children with?”

“Anyone would be better than that scum! It’s just not worth it, Master.” Shen Yan remained displeased.

An Sheng gave a noncommittal hum. “That’s all. Don’t cause trouble at the hospital tomorrow.”

After hanging up, Shen Yan narrowed her eyes.

No trouble…

Absolutely impossible!Ning Yun’ai had returned to the country with his own medical team and was collaborating on research projects with Luocheng Medical University. The medical team usually worked at the university.

It was also close to Qinghe Hospital.

So it was Ning Yun’ai’s own team that conducted An Sheng’s physical examination.

An Sheng looked at the anxious Bo Jinye and smiled reassuringly, “What’s wrong…”

“Sheng Sheng won’t feel any pain.” Bo Jinye kissed An Sheng’s forehead, murmuring comfortingly, “Sheng Sheng won’t hurt.”

“If Sheng Sheng hurts, I’ll hurt too.”

An Sheng lowered her eyes slightly, letting him kiss her repeatedly, “Then Bo Jinye, don’t let me feel pain from now on.”

The man held her close, pressing his cheek tightly against An Sheng’s, his voice soft as he agreed, “Okay—”

Then he remembered something and straightened up, looking seriously at An Sheng, “But sometimes, no, it’s not possible.”

An Sheng looked at him blankly, “When? What’s not possible?”

“When I bite Sheng Sheng.”

Shen Yan stepped into the medical room and heard these words, instantly feeling utterly shocked.

Oh my, oh my, where did this pervert come from?!

When Shen Yan saw it was Bo Jinye, he was so frightened he took two steps back, his face horrified.

Since when did Bo Jinye have a twin brother?

I get it now – Master has turned dark. To get revenge on Bo Jinye, she seduced his twin brother to fall in love with her.

Then she openly entered the Bo family, pretending not to be able to tell the brothers apart so she could deal harshly with Bo Jinye.

Making these two brothers cuckold each other!

Finally successfully playing both brothers in the palm of her hand and taking all the Bo family’s wealth!

Shen Yan felt he had figured out the script.

Ning Yun’ai was adjusting the instruments when he spotted Shen Yan and exclaimed, “Well, if it isn’t my junior! What a coincidence.”

Shen Yan rolled his eyes, “Who’s your junior? Don’t randomly claim relationships.”

“Be careful Professor Duwei hears that and deducts your credits.” Ning Yun’ai went over and pulled Bo Jinye away from clinging to An Sheng, “Shoo, shoo, get out.”

“What are you doing!” Bo Jinye shook him off.

Ning Yun’ai clicked his tongue, “I need to perform a physical examination for Miss An Sheng. No outsiders allowed.”

“Sheng Sheng isn’t a miss, she’s Little Madam! My Bo Jinye’s Little Madam!” Bo Jinye loudly corrected, his voice loud enough for the entire hospital building to hear.

Shen Yan covered his chest – was this guy really Bo Jinye?

Heaven is unjust – Master is such a good person, yet she ended up with this foolish scum.

When I earn enough money, I’ll destroy the Bo family and present it to Master to play with!

Bo Jinye reluctantly went to wait in the corridor outside. Shen Yan received a warning glance from An Sheng and had to retreat as well.

Passing nurses greeted him, “Doctor Shen…”

Shen Yan nodded while observing the man sitting on the bench.

Admittedly, this man was quite attractive.

Just looking at his face, he barely qualified to shine Master’s shoes.

But he completely didn’t deserve to stand by Master’s side!

With An Sheng gone, Bo Jinye’s expression turned cold and aloof as he sat there, his distant and icy aura making people afraid to approach.

Shen Yan wanted to wait for An Sheng to come out, but the cardiothoracic department called asking him to return as two patients needed his personal attention.

Shen Yan had no choice but to leave.

Bo Jinye glanced indifferently at Shen Yan, slightly frowning.

Who was this person, and why did he come to see Sheng Sheng?

Although Sheng Sheng hadn’t exchanged any words with him.

He could still sense that the two knew each other.

Bo Jinye called Shi Yan, “Does Ning Yun’ai have any juniors in the country?”

“That cardiothoracic surgeon Shen Yan – investigate his background for me.””What does this have to do with Sheng Sheng?”

Shi Yan hung up the phone and sighed.

Help me, shouldn’t this kind of thing be assigned to Bo Xiyuan?!

He’s just a personal assistant, he shouldn’t have to handle so much!

Tomorrow he would go to the finance department and demand his salary be doubled.
