17 – Chapter 17
Bo Jinye watched An Sheng nervously, “Sheng Sheng?”
What did she mean? Was there something wrong with the ring?
The man’s sinister gaze fell upon Bo Xiyuan, who was also puzzled. “Little Madam, is there something improper about this ring?”
An Sheng snapped out of her thoughts and placed the ring in Bo Jinye’s palm.
The man stared at her blankly. The girl stood against the light, and Bo Jinye felt the sunlight was too glaring, making it hard for him to see An Sheng’s face clearly.
She didn’t want it?
She didn’t want it…
She was unwilling…
This realization made countless dark thoughts flash through the man’s mind in an instant.
“A Ye, put it on for me again.” An Sheng extended her hand, blooming into a smile.
Perhaps this was fate.
The design she had lost had ultimately been obtained by Bo Jinye and placed on her finger.
Bo Jinye was momentarily stunned, then tightly grasped An Sheng’s hand. “Does Sheng Sheng like it?”
“I like it. Of course I like anything A Ye gives me.” An Sheng coaxed him, then took the other ring and placed it on Bo Jinye’s finger.
The diamond sparkled brilliantly. Bo Jinye spun An Sheng around in his arms, his voice deep, “Sheng Sheng, I love you.””
“Who taught A Ye to say such things?” An Sheng laughed, steadying herself on the man’s shoulders.
“From the television.” Bo Jinye looked up at An Sheng. “If Sheng Sheng wants to hear it, I’ll say it to you every day.”
“Good, then A Ye must say it every day. Not even one day less.”
An Sheng glanced at the ring again before contentedly wrapping her arms around the man’s neck, leaning against him and closing her eyes.
Bo Xiyuan tactfully withdrew.
Bo Jinye quietly held An Sheng, taking a deep breath, his heart full of satisfaction.
He had been afraid that An Sheng wouldn’t let him say it anymore.
As he held the girl, Bo Jinye suddenly noticed something wrong. He lifted her up, “Sheng Sheng? Sheng Sheng, what’s wrong?! Sheng Sheng!”
An Sheng, who had been perfectly fine moments before, had now fallen into a deep sleep.
Her ring-adorned hand hung limply, her breathing so quiet it was as if…
As if she had died…
Bo Jinye’s heart nearly stopped beating. The An Sheng before him overlapped with the tragic, unknown past in his memories.
He thought of their previous life.
The man’s voice was unprecedentedly sharp and desperate, “Prepare the car! Someone!”
Ning Yun’ai was in the middle of a thoracic surgery department presentation when he received the call. His face paled upon hearing the news. “Okay, I’m coming right away.”
After hanging up, he informed the department and rushed toward the emergency room.
Shen Yan, noticing his disturbed expression, thought for a moment before following.
Could it be that something happened to Master and Bo Jinye again?
Ah, Master!
It might be that Master’s dormant period had come early!
Shen Yan quickened her pace, arriving at the emergency room just in time to see An Sheng being wheeled in. She squeezed her way inside.
Fortunately, everyone was focused on An Sheng, so no one tried to remove Shen Yan.
It was Shen Yan who ended up asking the emergency room nurses and doctors to leave. “Doctor Ning is here, you can attend to other matters.”
“How did she lose consciousness?” Ning Yun’ai bent down to examine An Sheng’s condition.
“She collapsed suddenly. She was fine one second, and unconscious the next,” Bo Xiyuan explained.
Ning Yun’ai straightened up, glanced at Bo Jinye, then turned to instruct his assistant to bring in equipment for examination.
Bo Jinye stood to the side with lowered eyes, his face terrifyingly pale. His dark pupils appeared deep and hollow.
The emergency room was silent except for the sounds of medical equipment. Even breathing seemed to freeze in the heavy, oppressive atmosphere.
You Xin didn’t dare speak, watching Bo Jinye with concern, afraid he might do something drastic.Ning Yun’ai’s furrowed brows never relaxed. He still wanted to call the nurse to take her to neurology for examination, but Shen Yan stopped him, “It’s useless…”
“You know, no matter how many tests we do, we won’t be able to tell what’s really causing this.”
Bo Xiyuan’s heart raced, “What do you mean?”
Ning Yun’ai remained silent, tacitly agreeing with Shen Yan’s words.
It was truly strange. After all these years abroad, he had encountered many difficult and complicated illnesses and prided himself on having no unsolvable medical mysteries left in his field.
So why couldn’t he figure out why An Sheng had fainted?
“Doctor Ning, what’s really going on?” Bo Xiyuan asked in a low voice.
Ning Yun’ai took a deep breath and turned around, “I don’t know. I’m afraid there are very few people in this world who could figure it out.”
“What about Little Madam…” Bo Xiyuan didn’t dare to say the rest of the words.
Was there no hope for Little Madam?
“The only comfort is that her vital signs are stable. She looks no different from someone sleeping. I’ll immediately contact my mentor’s research institute and have her transferred there,” Ning Yun’ai comforted him.
He then looked at the desolate Bo Jinye and couldn’t help but sigh, “Jinye, we’ll do our best.”
Bo Jinye slowly raised his eyes. You Xin gasped in fear and hid in the corner, “F-Fourth Brother…”
The man’s eyes were bloodshot, his face had instantly become haggard, his lips had lost their color, and his aura was like that of a wounded beast.
Tormented and lost, yet unable to find release, ultimately destined to die in despair.
Bo Jinye staggered to his knees. The sound of his kneeling made everyone present shudder.
Bo Jinye slowly reached out and took An Sheng’s hand, intertwining their fingers. The sparkle of the diamond on the ring stung his eyes.
Ever since his rebirth, he had always felt uneasy in his heart.
He had committed countless wrongs in his previous life—did that mean he wouldn’t be punished in this one?
Just by pretending to be foolish, Sheng Sheng had been so heartbroken that she didn’t divorce him, pampering and loving him everywhere.
What kind of punishment was that? So he lived in fear every day.
Afraid that this was nothing but a sweet dream, that he would wake up to find he was just a despicable villain, unworthy of even the slightest bit of An Sheng’s love.
On the day he put the ring on An Sheng’s finger, was the dream finally about to end?
Did heaven let him be reborn just to show him what he had missed in his previous life, and how foolish and detestable he had been?
Bo Jinye tremblingly held An Sheng’s hand to his lips, his voice fragmented, nearly voiceless, using all his strength to utter two words.
“Sheng Sheng…”
You Xin was so sad he was about to cry.
Even Shen Yan, who knew the truth, felt uncomfortable seeing Bo Jinye’s pain and despair.
Ning Yun’ai let out a soft sigh, “Jinye, I’ll go contact my mentor. Don’t worry, we absolutely won’t give up.”
Shen Yan pulled him back, “Even if you contact Mentor Dewey, it won’t help.”
“Hey, that guy, what’s his name? I know how to save this young lady.”
Everyone was stunned. Ning Yun’ai frowned at him, “This isn’t the time for our rivalry. Don’t joke around.”
Shen Yan shook off his hand and walked to An Sheng’s side, “I’m not joking.”
“I know how to save her. If you don’t believe me, then forget it.”
“How do we do it?” Bo Jinye spoke, his voice like a cry from the depths of his soul.
Shen Yan looked at him, thinking only about getting revenge for his master, his expression very serious: “Actually, she’s been haunted by something.””The beloved must bleed daily for thirty days, maintain a simple diet with a tranquil heart, recite scriptures each day, and sleep only four hours per day.”
“Nothing else is required. With sincere devotion, they will awaken after one month.”
