“Fu Zhong, right? You’re a bit more mischievous than Fu E.”

“Wrong guess.”

A low chuckle sounded. Sui Yuye removed the hand covering his eyes. Before he could turn around, a light tickle came from his waist, nearly making him laugh out loud. He dodged forward to escape that hand, only to bump into another chest.Full novel: After Redeeming the Madmen, I Became Prey — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“How come you can’t tell us apart once you can’t see? And where am I mischievous?” Fu Zhong pouted in dissatisfaction.

“No, wait—Fu E, stop tickling me first.” Sui Yuye couldn’t help but let out a muffled laugh. “Please, stop fooling around.”

Seeing him press closer into Fu Zhong’s embrace in front of him to avoid himself, Fu E reminded, “You think he’s the good one? My brother isn’t much better than me.”

Fu Zhong was about to retort when he was suddenly pulled by Sui Yuye.

“Crash!!”

A flowerpot fell, smashing right where Fu Zhong had been standing.

“What’s going on?” Sui Yuye frowned, looking upward. Fortunately, he had sensed the danger. “Why is there a flowerpot upstairs? Who put it there?”

Sui Yuye intended to go upstairs to check, but they stopped him.

Fu Zhong: “Oh right, we just remembered—a teacher called us to the office earlier. Could you go downstairs first? We’ll be right there.”

Before Sui Yuye could ask anything, they had already gone upstairs.

Stepping onto the final stair, directly opposite them stood a pair of identical twins. The gloomy weather accentuated the danger in their features, and a contemptuous curve lifted the corners of their lips.

Fu E and Fu Zhong went downstairs. Thunder rumbled outside, but Sui Yuye was nowhere in sight.

Fu Zhong slapped his forehead: “Oh no, he didn’t go up looking for us, did he?”

Just as they were about to turn back, a hand suddenly hooked around their necks, and an umbrella was held over them.

“Lower your heads, lower your heads—you’re too tall.”

Sui Yuye had one arm around each, as if holding two large dogs, and said while gripping the umbrella handle, “I saw it was raining, so I went to get an umbrella from the car. But there’s only one, so you’ll have to squeeze in with me.”

Fu E and Fu Zhong let him lead them, bending slightly to match his height. Three grown men crowding under one umbrella was truly cramped. Pressed against Sui Yuye’s sides, they caught the faint scent of soap on him.

They turned their heads to look at Sui Yuye. One raised a hand to wrap around his waist, the other around his back.

Sui Yuye saw the two into the car, then turned to leave.

“Stay.”

Two low voices spoke simultaneously.

Sui Yuye’s steps froze. The commanding dominance of the double order made his expression stiffen uncontrollably. He slowly turned his head: “What is it?”

“Sui Yuye, so you’re originally a Switch?” Fu Zhong asked.

“Yes, but my primary attribute is Rom.”

“I see… Well, why don’t you come with us? We’ll take you to eat.”

Sui Yuye shook his head: “No, I still have to hurry to Venus.”

“We’re actually heading to Venus too. You might as well come with us.”

“I’m actually going there in my capacity as a bodyguard, and my car is still parked nearby.”

Fu E spoke considerately: “It’s fine. We’ll arrange for someone to drive it back for you.”

Seeing the rain grow heavier and the two wearing expressions that said they wouldn’t rest until they took him along, Sui Yuye had no choice but to compromise. He opened the passenger door and got in.

But as soon as he closed the car door, it was opened again.

Fu Zhong pulled him out, walked toward the back, and pushed him into the rear seat.

Sui Yuye was sandwiched between the two, momentarily stunned, and asked, “What bodyguard sits in the back seat? Aren’t you two bothered by it?”

Both replied in unison, “Not at all.”

Despite driving quickly, they still hit traffic. Combined with the heavy rain, it was even more damn congested.

Sui Yuye hurriedly arrived at Shao Jinghe’s residence, one minute late. As soon as he entered, he saw the displeased expression on Shao Jinghe’s face.

Shao Jinghe’s gaze was fixed on the twins behind Sui Yuye. Watching Sui Yuye hand the umbrella to them, his expression soured even further.

“So you spent the whole day playing around with the Fu Family, had so much fun you forgot the time to come here, is that it?”

Shao Jinghe sat on the sofa with his long legs crossed. “Do you even know what those twins from the Fu Family do? And you still hang out with them? Are you really not afraid of dying, not afraid of what they might do to you?”

Sui Yuye walked over to him. “You’re overthinking it. I just finished my last shift.”

“Then why are they following you? All the way to my doorstep, no less.”

Sui Yuye was at a loss for words.

Shao Jinghe noticed his damp shoulders, stood up, and grabbed the back of his collar, clicking his tongue in disdain. “Aren’t you embarrassed wearing this outfit in front of me? Go change.”

“Where would I have clothes to change into…”

A servant nearby said, “Sir, please follow me. Clothes have been prepared.”

Sui Yuye was surprised and looked at Shao Jinghe, who had already returned to the sofa without even glancing his way.

A few minutes later, when Sui Yuye came out, he found that Mrs. Shao had arrived and was chattering away.

Shao Jinghe, sitting on the sofa, wore only an impatient expression. “Are you done yet? Stop worrying about this and that. I already said I—”

Suddenly, a figure blocked his view. Shao Jinghe froze.

“Mrs. Shao, long time no see.” Sui Yuye shielded the person behind him, facing Mrs. Shao with a smile. “I noticed your complexion has improved lately.”

“Oh, really?” Mrs. Shao’s expression turned polite upon seeing him, as she knew it was Sui Yuye who had saved her child years ago.

“You’re the only one who can handle him. No matter how many bodyguards I arrange for Jinghe, he always finds a way to drive them away.”

Shao Jinghe stared at Sui Yuye’s back. The suit he had chosen was finely crafted and of high quality, but on Sui Yuye, it lost its flashiness, only accentuating his tall and striking figure. It even carried a hint of sensuality.

If he were to break Sui Yuye, to see him shattered and ruined, wouldn’t that be even more captivating?

Mrs. Shao said, “Yuye, you don’t have to worry about the terms at all. How about becoming Jinghe’s exclusive bodyguard? After all, he only accepts you by his side.”

“No, Mrs. Shao,” Sui Yuye shook his head.

“I believe Shao Jinghe is free. He doesn’t need someone watching over him all the time.”

Shao Jinghe’s eyes widened in surprise.

Soon, Mrs. Shao left. Shao Jinghe heard footsteps approaching and looked up, only to have his bangs suddenly brushed aside.

Sui Yuye’s hands were coated with hair wax, styling the stray hairs on his forehead backward and adjusting the curve of his hair. “I think you actually look better with your forehead exposed.”

Shao Jinghe parted his lips but made no sound.

“Being one minute late is still being late. It was indeed my negligence. I’ll make sure to arrive early from now on. Could you please not deduct my salary?”

“…Who said I was going to deduct your salary?”

“You were wearing such an angry face earlier. If I don’t calm you down, what if you take it out on me later?”

Shao Jinghe: “…”

Seeing his silence, Sui Yuye added, “Don’t be angry anymore…”

He had just uttered a single word when his wrist was seized, and he was pulled down onto the single-seater sofa. Shao Jinghe reached toward him, and then something sprayed onto his neck.

Sui Yuye flinched slightly.

“It’s just perfume. What are you afraid of?”

Recognizing the familiar scent of the perfume, Sui Yuye looked up in surprise to see the other man leaning in close.

Shao Jinghe lowered his head and took a sniff near the side of his neck.

With his hands resting on either side of the armrests, he trapped Sui Yuye between the sofa and himself, then used his fingers to tilt Sui Yuye’s chin upward.

Shao Jinghe stared at him, a faint smile curling at the corner of his mouth. “You’re wearing my clothes, smelling like my scent—it almost looks like you belong to me now.”
