As they drove further into the city, the number of zombies steadily increased. When they passed a police station, Gu Nuan suddenly thought they might be able to find some weapons there.
“Qingzhou, look, it’s a police station. Let’s go see if there are any weapons.”
Chen Qingzhou extended his spiritual sense and checked the surrounding area. There were only two zombies nearby.
“Stay in the vehicle. Don’t get out, I’ll go have a look.”
Chen Qingzhou got out of the RV. One of the zombies immediately heard the sound and lunged straight at him. He activated his lightning ability and waved his hand, sending a bolt of lightning crashing into it.
To his surprise, the zombie was only blasted back about ten metres instead of being killed.
Extending his spiritual threads to investigate, he realised it was an advanced zombie with a red crystal core.
At that moment, the other zombie also heard the commotion and rushed over.
From inside the RV, Gu Nuan saw it and shouted anxiously,
“Watch out behind you!”
Chen Qingzhou turned around and saw the second zombie charging towards him. At the same time, the first zombie, which had been knocked away, struggled back to its feet.
An idea instantly came to him.
A flash of white light flickered through his eyes, and the advanced zombie suddenly turned and charged at the other zombie, launching a vicious attack. Meanwhile, Chen Qingzhou simply stood there with both hands in his pockets, watching the spectacle unfold.
It was the first time Gu Nuan had seen Chen Qingzhou use his spiritual ability.
Was it actually this powerful?
He could even control an advanced zombie.
After a short while, the ability’s effect seemed to wear off. The two zombies, which had been locked in combat moments earlier, suddenly roared in fury and charged at Chen Qingzhou together.
Without hesitation, Chen Qingzhou unleashed his lightning ability again.
This time, he attacked with his full strength.
The already injured zombies were instantly killed, leaving behind one red crystal core and one yellow crystal core. After collecting both crystal cores, Chen Qingzhou walked further inside.
Just then, Wang Gang and his team arrived at the police station.
“Brother Chen, you’re here too.”
Hearing the voice, Chen Qingzhou frowned.
So they had come as well.
What perfect timing.
They had arrived just after he had dealt with the two zombies.
Ignoring them, Chen Qingzhou continued walking inside.
Wang Gang rubbed his nose awkwardly, feeling a little guilty. They had seen both the zombies and Chen Qingzhou earlier, but he had deliberately chosen not to help because he wanted to see how strong Chen Qingzhou really was. Now that it was over, he couldn’t help feeling somewhat embarrassed.
They continued deeper into the building.
The lobby was completely empty.
Further inside, they found the armoury.
Chen Qingzhou split the reinforced door open with a single swing of his broadsword. Inside were all kinds of equipment, including pistols, bulletproof vests, electric batons, combat knives, shields, and more.
“Wow, there’s so much here. Brother Chen, you pick first.”
Wang Gang gestured politely.
Chen Qingzhou selected two bulletproof vests, four pistols, one shield, four combat knives, and two crates of ammunition.
He didn’t take any electric batons because they had already bought plenty while stockpiling supplies.
Everything else was left for Wang Gang and his team.
Just as everyone was gathering equipment, Wang Gang suddenly called out,
“Stop! Zombies are coming, and there are quite a few of them!”
Chen Qingzhou had sensed them as well. He had not expected Wang Gang to notice them too.
Everyone grabbed what they could and sprinted outside.
The moment they reached the entrance, they found themselves surrounded by zombies.
“Brother Wang, what do we do?” asked one of Wang Gang’s teammates, a young man with dyed blond hair.
“I’ll hold them off. You protect the others and get everyone into the vehicles.”
Turning to Chen Qingzhou, he said, “Brother Chen, let’s each take one side and wipe them out as quickly as possible.”
“Alright.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Qingzhou launched his attack.
Purple lightning crackled loudly as it tore through the horde.
With one wave of attacks, numerous low level zombies collapsed.
Wang Gang also activated his ice ability, freezing the zombies before crushing them with his bare hands.
It was quite an effective ability, although its range was nowhere near as wide as Chen Qingzhou’s lightning. Each attack could only affect the few zombies at the very front, but it was already remarkably powerful.
The two men fought like unstoppable forces, each taking one side of the battlefield.
Crystal cores scattered across the ground as zombies fell one after another.
There were more than twenty zombies in total, and before long every one of them had been eliminated.
The battlefield was a complete mess, littered with mangled remains, while many of the corpses struck by Chen Qingzhou’s lightning had been burnt black.
It was a truly horrific sight.
“What’s this?”
Wang Gang picked up a crystal core and looked at Chen Qingzhou.
“It’s a crystal core. Absorbing it can increase your ability.”
“What? They’re that amazing? Then we’d better collect them.”
He immediately began picking up crystal cores from the ground.
Chen Qingzhou only collected the two red crystal cores.
He no longer had any use for the white ones, and he still had plenty of yellow crystal cores left.
After returning to the RV, he had Gu Nuan store all the supplies in her System Space before they continued on their journey.
