Gu Nuan busied herself preparing the soup and cooking lunch while Chen Qingzhou kept his eyes on the road, remaining alert to their surroundings.

From time to time, Gu Nuan would glance at Chen Qingzhou. Putting everything else aside, his appearance alone was enough to captivate her. His sharply defined features, elegant jawline, broad chest, eight pack abs, and the unmistakable V line beneath them…

Just thinking about how good he looked and how toned he was made her cheeks flush bright red.Full novel: After the Apocalypse: I Became Pregnant with the Male Lead’s Child — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Gu Nuan quickly shook her head and let out a deep breath.

What am I even thinking about?

Completely unaware of what was on her mind, Chen Qingzhou continued using his psychic ability to monitor the surrounding area.

By noon, they pulled over to rest.

Since the area was wide and open, they decided to eat outside. Gu Nuan took out a folding table and chairs and asked Chen Qingzhou to set them up.

“Brother Tian, wasn’t this table and these chairs left behind back there last time? Then how…” Lu Qingshan whispered into Xia Tian’s ear.

Just then, Chen Qingzhou came out carrying the dishes, and Xia Tian immediately made a shushing gesture.

“Lunch is ready!”

Gu Nuan walked over carrying a basket of steamed buns and bowls, while Chen Qingzhou brought over a large basin of pork rib soup and an equally large serving of shredded pork in garlic sauce. Since there were several grown men eating together, Gu Nuan had deliberately cooked a generous portion, and even the soup was served in a large basin.

Their lunch consisted of steamed buns, one soup, and one main dish.

The moment Lu Qingshan saw the colourful, fragrant meal, he forgot all about his earlier suspicions and couldn’t help swallowing.

Chen Qingzhou smiled and invited everyone to sit down.

“This smells incredible! Ever since the Apocalypse began, I haven’t had a meal this good.”

Sun Zecheng stuffed steamed buns into his mouth one after another.

Even the buns tasted unbelievably delicious.

Xia Tian rubbed his forehead helplessly.

What kind of brothers do I have? This is so embarrassing.

Gu Nuan laughed. “As long as you enjoy it, eat as much as you like.”

As she spoke, she picked up a serving of food and placed it into Chen Qingzhou’s bowl.

While eating, Lu Qingshan gave Gu Nuan a thumbs up.

“Sister in law, your cooking is amazing.”

His exaggerated expression made Gu Nuan burst into laughter.

The meal was filled with warmth and laughter. By the end, not even a drop of soup remained. Every one of them had eaten until they were completely stuffed.

In the middle of the Apocalypse, moments like this were incredibly rare.

They sat in the wilderness, enjoying delicious food while admiring the scenery along the roadside.

Watching the four men with their thoroughly satisfied expressions, Gu Nuan couldn’t stop smiling.

One meal had completely won them over.

As she stood up to clear the table, Chen Qingzhou quickly got to his feet and gently supported her.

“I’ll do it.”

“We’ll take care of it. You two should get some rest.”

Lu Qingshan volunteered to wash the dishes.

He couldn’t let Gu Nuan and Chen Qingzhou keep taking care of the three of them. After all, they were all older than the young couple.

Besides, it was obvious that Gu Nuan was pregnant.

“Exactly,” Xia Tian agreed. “My sister in law is expecting, so she should rest more.”

“That’s right,” Chen Qingzhou replied happily as he gently rubbed Gu Nuan’s stomach. “She’s already four months pregnant with triplets.”

“Damn, little brother, you’re incredible.”

Sun Zecheng immediately gave Chen Qingzhou a thumbs up.

“Three at once. That’s seriously impressive.”

Sun Zecheng was an orphan who had grown up in an orphanage. Through his own determination, he had earned a place at university and later became a researcher. He had once had a girlfriend, but they eventually broke up for various reasons.

At this moment, he couldn’t help envying Chen Qingzhou.

Xia Tian also looked somewhat envious.

He had a wife, but they had never had children. Now he had no idea how things were back home. He feared that his wife might no longer be alive. She was also a scientific researcher, and he could only hope she had survived.

Lu Qingshan, on the other hand, wasn’t too bothered.

He had always been easygoing. He was also an orphan and had no family to worry about. His only regret was that he had only just bought a flat with a mortgage and hadn’t even lived in it for more than a few days before the Apocalypse arrived.

The three men cleared the table and washed the dishes.

It was their first time inside Chen Qingzhou’s motorhome, and they couldn’t help looking around curiously.

They examined everything, touching this and that.

“Qingzhou, your motorhome is really unusual. Was it custom made?”

“Yeah! We originally planned to go on a self driving holiday before the Apocalypse, then I modified it afterwards.”

Chen Qingzhou answered casually.

“I see, no wonder it feels almost like an armoured vehicle. It’s really nice.”

“We’ll reach Beicheng in another hundred kilometres. It’s a big city. Once we find suitable vehicles there, you should replace yours with something more spacious.”

“Good idea,” Lu Qingshan said. “If we find another vehicle, I can drive too, and we can carry more supplies.”

“Exactly.”

“Alright. It’s still early, so let’s get moving. We’ll spend the night in Beicheng.”

After saying that, Chen Qingzhou helped Gu Nuan back into the motorhome, while Xia Tian and the others returned to their own vehicle and set off.

“Get some sleep, I’ll wake you when we arrive.”

Chen Qingzhou helped Gu Nuan lie down on the bed and tucked a blanket over her.

“Alright.”

Gu Nuan took a bottle of cola out of the System Space and handed it to him.

“Here.”

Chen Qingzhou accepted it, leaned down to kiss her forehead, then returned to the driver’s seat.

After playing a game for a while, Gu Nuan gradually drifted off to sleep.
