7 – Acting
Chi Wanwan stayed at her parents’ house for two nights, playing chess with her father and taking walks and chatting with her mother.
On Monday, after her parents went to work, she returned to her home in Yingcui Huating.
The things she had bought online a few days earlier had all been delivered, with packages of various sizes piled up at her doorstep.
She dragged the large packages inside and started opening them.
She had bought a Turkish handmade carpet, a solid wood low tea table, cushions, backrest pillows, and finally an antique-style lamp—all of these were meant for setting up a tea corner.
Chi Wanwan organized the unpacked items.
First, she laid out the carpet. It fit perfectly, with not a single gap to spare.
After laying the carpet, she placed the tea table in the center and set a set of purple clay tea utensils on it.
She placed one rattan-woven cushion on each side of the tea table.
She put two cotton-linen backrest pillows against the wall and two by the window.
Finally, she placed the antique-style lamp in a small corner nearby, and a zen-style tea corner was roughly complete.
Chi Wanwan took photos at every step—the before-and-after comparison, as well as the process of setting it up.
A few years ago, she had registered accounts on several apps and usually enjoyed sharing her daily life of growing flowers and cooking.
Unexpectedly, she had gone viral on social media.
However, Chi Wanwan had never shown her face in her videos or photos.
Perhaps it was precisely because she never revealed her face.
That added a sense of mystery, and it made people love watching her even more.
No one knew that “Mu Wan,” the internet influencer with five million followers, was actually Chi Wanwan, a nobody actress in the entertainment industry.
As an unknown supporting actress, the meager income from acting was not enough to support Chi Wanwan’s living expenses.
Fortunately, after becoming a blogger, she managed to earn some money from the viewership traffic on her content.
But she had never considered giving up acting.
With this extra income, she had more confidence to chase her dreams.
On her social account, she shared photos of the bay window converted into a tea corner, along with a short caption briefly explaining the entire process.
Soon, she received a flood of likes and comments from her fans.
Chi Wanwan replied to a few of the top-liked comments.
…
Berlin, Germany
After attending the negotiation meeting, Shen Yu returned by car to the five-star hotel where he was staying.
In the presidential suite on the top floor, Shen Yu poured himself a glass of red wine, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and looked out into the distance with a commanding gaze.
“President, the missus posted an update on her social account today.” Fang Ziheng’s fingers quickly swiped across the tablet.
“Hmm? When did my mother register a social account?”
Fang Ziheng’s expression remained unchanged. “I meant your wife, sir.”
Shen Yu’s eyes darkened slightly. He had almost forgotten that such a person existed.
“Let me see.” Shen Yu reached out and took the tablet from Fang Ziheng’s hands.
The account username was: Mu Wan.
The most recent post was photos of the bay window converted into a tea corner.
Shen Yu frowned. “Ziheng, is it necessary to convert a bay window into a tea corner?”
He really couldn’t understand it. If one wanted to drink tea, wouldn’t it be simpler to just set up a tea room?
“It’s very common. Many people have smaller living spaces, so they make use of the bay window,” Fang Ziheng explained.
Common?
Well, in Shen Yu’s social circle, this kind of behavior wasn’t all that common.
Shen Yu tugged at his tie and sat down on the sofa. “Alright, you go back to your room and rest first. Tomorrow we still have to discuss the merger with another group.”
“Okay. You should rest early too.” Fang Ziheng walked out of the room.
Shen Yu looked at the tablet on the desk, then picked it up again.
He opened Chi Wanwan’s account and looked at the snippets of life she had shared in the past.
From her posts, it was clear that this was a small woman who kept to herself and lived life earnestly.
But Shen Yu wasn’t sure whether everything he saw was the real Chi Wanwan, or a Chi Wanwan she had crafted.
She was an actress, after all—it was possible she was acting every moment of every day.
If it was an act, then sooner or later, he would personally tear off her mask!
