A loud bang startled Assistant Zhou, who nearly jumped out of his seat. Turning around, he saw Bian Lian’s face burning with fury and immediately lowered his head like a quail, falling silent.

Seeing this, Bian You motioned for Assistant Zhou to leave. Understanding the situation, he quietly closed the door behind him and shooed away anyone lingering near Bian You’s office to prevent eavesdropping in case the argument escalated.

Once alone, Bian You stood up to pour Bian Lian a glass of water, her voice calm. “I know you’re angry, but this is the reality. Besides, I don’t think being marked by an Omega is anything shameful.”Full novel: After the Strategy Failed, the Heroine Turned into a Crematorium — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She carried a cup of warm water to the seating area and placed it on the coffee table across from her. Meeting Bian Lian’s gaze with composure, she showed no trace of fear despite the latter’s stormy expression.

The gesture was an obvious invitation for Bian Lian to sit down and talk things through.

But Bian Lian had no intention of a civil conversation. Instead, Bian You’s attitude only infuriated her further.

“I thought you’d finally started to amount to something these past few months, but it turns out you’re still just a hopeless mess!”

Bian You paused briefly before smiling faintly. “Wouldn’t it be strange to keep standing there while we talk?”

Her words only darkened Bian Lian’s expression. Yet she realized that with Bian You seated and herself looming over her, the scene made it seem like she was the one at fault.

She sat down opposite Bian You, her voice icy. “I think you owe me an explanation.”

Bian You chuckled. “What kind of explanation do you want? The truth is exactly what’s circulating online, I was marked by an Omega.”

Her unruffled demeanor made Bian Lian’s veins bulge in fury. Suppressing her rage, she hissed, “Was it that Qi family brat?”

A flicker passed through Bian You’s eyes as she smiled. “Yes. Though she was reluctant at first. I had to resort to some tricks to make it happen.”

“You should know, I love her, but she doesn’t feel the same. To tie her to me, this was the only way.”

As she spoke the last part, her expression even carried a hint of distress, as if it were all true.

“You—!” Bian Lian’s face twisted in outrage. She slammed a hand on the table and snarled, “Since when has anyone from the Bian family ever thrown themselves at someone like this?!”

Especially like this practically begging to be taken, even forcing the other party into an irreversible contract!

Bian You blinked, amused. “I wouldn’t call it throwing myself at her. Just a little strategy in the pursuit of love. If war has its thirty-six stratagems, why can’t romance have its own cunning?”

Bian Lian felt a surge of blood rise in her throat. Staring at Bian You’s unrepentant face, she ground out each word, “You’re a disgrace to Alphas everywhere!”

Even without pheromones, Bian You was still an Alpha. She should stand with her kind and uphold their dignity!

At those words, Bian You’s expression cooled, her gaze turning mocking.

“How arrogant! Why do you think it’s perfectly fine for an Alpha to mark an Omega, but unacceptable for the reverse to happen?”

“Have you placed yourself in the position of an Omega’s master? But what gives you that right? We’re all born equal, who’s truly nobler than whom?”

“It’s merely an attribute acquired through secondary differentiation, yet you’ve seized the opportunity to divide people into hierarchies.”

“If you believe Alphas are so noble and inviolable, why don’t you find another Alpha as your partner? Why still seek Omegas and Betas?”

“You can’t live without them, yet still flaunt your superiority, don’t you see anything wrong with that?”

This rapid-fire speech completely tore away the veil of what was once common knowledge.

Bian Lian’s temples throbbed violently, an inexplicable fury burning in her chest, yet she suddenly found herself speechless, unable to utter a single word.

Seeing Bian Lian like this, Bian You temporarily set aside her aggressive stance and sighed softly. “Mom, when you truly love someone, you can’t bear to see them wronged or hurt. You’d willingly give them everything you have without hesitation, let alone something as simple as a mark.”

“A simple mark? Do you even know what this mark signifies?!” Bian Lian seemed to have found an outlet for her anger, raising her voice. “It means your body will never accept any Omega other than the one who marked you! What if you fail to win them over, or if they abandon you? How will you face yourself in the future?”

The risks of removing a mark are extremely high, and few choose to do so unless absolutely necessary.

“Hmm… So what? At least I won’t have any regrets.” Bian You smiled warmly at her, bright and unclouded. Faced with such an expression, Bian Lian suddenly felt as though, in comparison, she was as dark and wretched as a sewer rat.

Bian Lian let out a bitter laugh.

Well, well, well. She never knew she’d raised such a lovesick fool.

A mocking smile spread across her face as she stared directly at Bian You. “Then I’ll wait to see if you can still smile like this in the future.”

She had met Qi Zhi’e of the Qi family before. Even at a young age, that girl was deep and calculating. How could someone like Bian You ever hold onto her?

She would wait. The day would come when Bian You would weep!

“At least I can still smile now.” Bian You flashed her a radiant grin, clearly aware that Bian Lian couldn’t do anything to her at the moment.

With a cold snort, Bian Lian stood up and left without even drinking a sip of water.

It wasn’t that she hadn’t considered stripping Bian You of everything forcing her out of the Bian Corporation, making her realize how difficult life would be without the Bian family’s protection. But she quickly dismissed the idea.

She would let Bian You enjoy all their resources and face Qi Zhi’e in the best possible condition. If she still couldn’t win Qi Zhi’e over under these circumstances, then she would finally understand how laughable her so-called love truly was!

After Bian Lian left, Bian You blinked and chuckled softly. She hadn’t expected the matter to be resolved so easily with Bian Lian. She had even prepared herself for the possibility of being disowned.

Clearly, she wasn’t the only one who had thought this way.

Assistant Zhou peeked her head through the doorway, cautiously asking, ” Director Bian , do you need help packing your things?” as she saw Bian You leaning back on the sofa with a relaxed expression, gazing out the window.

In her heart, Assistant Zhou had already prepared herself to offer some final warmth to Bian You, accompanying her while she packed up her belongings to leave.

Bian You turned to look at her and couldn’t help but laugh at her conflicted and nervous expression. “Pack what?”

Huh? Not fired?

Assistant Zhou’s eyes lit up with surprise as she quickly stepped inside, delighted. “Chairwoman Bian didn’t remove you from your position?”

Seeing her obvious excitement, Bian You tilted her head and teased, “What, are you disappointed I wasn’t fired?”

“No! I’m thrilled!” Assistant Zhou knew Bian You was deliberately teasing her, but she still earnestly expressed her feelings. She truly was happy ever since Bian You’s personality changed, she had become incredibly easy to get along with! Finding such a pleasant superior in the workplace was rarer than winning the lottery.

Bian You chuckled. “Then you can rest easy. Nothing’s wrong, so there’s no need to pack up and leave.”

Assistant Zhou’s lips curled into an uncontrollable smile. After leaving Bian You’s office and noticing the curious, probing gazes of her colleagues, she rolled her eyes and adopted a solemn expression. “No issues at all. Our Chairwoman Bian is very open-minded. She doesn’t see any problem with being marked by an Omega, she respects Director Bian ‘s relationship.”

“Wow!” The crowd gasped in amazement. Who would’ve thought? Bian Lian’s mindset was truly ahead of many Alphas!

Later, when rumors spread throughout the entire company about how open-minded, understanding, and reasonable Chairwoman Bian was, Bian Lian eventually found out one day.

Bian Lian: “…”

Since when was she that kind of person?
