Nan Yi stood before him as if he were being punished, not daring to move.
After a few seconds, He Yushen spoke again: “Do you know who those two people were?”
Nan Yi shook his head.
He Yushen let out an unsatisfied “Tsk.”
“Don’t bring back flowers that weren’t given to you next time.” He Yushen suddenly stood up and took the phone from Nan Yi’s hand.
After a pause of several seconds, he said again, his voice slightly hoarse: “Don’t accept flowers from others in the future.”
His tall figure almost completely enveloped the small, frail Omega.
Nan Yi nodded gently.
He Yushen pulled him by the shoulder, still roughly, but with noticeably less force than before.
He said coldly: “Go downstairs and eat.”
Nan Yi was dragged upstairs and then dragged back out by him. As the two of them stepped out of the bedroom, they collided head-on with Ling Ran, who was just about to knock on the door.
The hand that had been dragging him was instantly released.
The person at the door was slightly startled: “I came to call you for dinner.”
The housekeeper would never have allowed him to come up to call them for dinner. He Yushen did not expose his clumsy excuse, only giving a soft, “Mn.”
He Yushen led the way downstairs, leaving the two of them in an awkward silence.
Ling Ran: “Ahem, let us go down to eat.”
Nan Yi followed the Omega downstairs. As soon as they reached the bottom, the housekeeper rushed forward excitedly.
“Madam! Mr. Nan!”
The housekeeper’s respectful title startled Nan Yi. Was the person next to him really addressed as Madam?
During the meal, Nan Yi observed the Omega whom the housekeeper had called Madam. Although he was well-maintained, the fine lines at the corners of his eyes could not be hidden.
He was not young, and if one looked closely, those beautiful eyes even resembled He Yushen’s a little.
However, Nan Yi remembered that on the day he was meant to marry into the He family in his brother’s place, Nan Zhaimin had said that He Yushen’s step-father was named Liu. Moreover, the photos were not like the Omega before him at all.
Yet, the more they looked at each other, the more they seemed to resemble one another.
Nan Yi always reacted slowly when deep in thought.
He was already a slow eater, but now he was moving at a snail’s pace.
Song Jing: “Uncle Ling, try this. It is delicious.”
Song Jing was having the meal with them as usual. At the table, he was actively picking food for Ling Ran, who sat beside him.
Ling Ran: “That is enough, that is enough. Xiao Jing is truly sensible.”
Ling Ran asked curiously: “How old are you this year, Xiao Jing?”
Song Jing: “I am already nineteen, Uncle Ling.”
Ling Ran: “You are an adult now. When I was your age, Shen was already two years old.”
Ling Ran and Song Jing continued to chat, and from time to time, Ling Ran would let out a soft laugh.
It was clear that he liked Song Jing’s sweet-talking and obedient nature.
Nan Yi remained quiet throughout the meal, eating only the dishes directly in front of him; he would not reach out to get anything further away.
Just as he was burying his head in his food, a piece of already-peeled shrimp was suddenly placed in his bowl.
Nan Yi looked up, pleasantly surprised.
He met Ling Ran’s doting smile.
“Why are you only focused on eating rice? Eat more meat.”
“What is your name?”
Ling Ran looked at Nan Yi kindly and asked two questions in a row.
Nan Yi subconsciously reached for the phone in his pocket, but his expression turned to shock when he felt his pocket was empty.
His chopsticks fell to the ground with his movement, leaving him feeling embarrassed and at a loss.
“His name is Nan Yi.”
He Yushen glanced at Nan Yi’s movement and spoke up for him.
Ling Ran: “How old are you?”
He Yushen: “Twenty.”
Song Jing: “Uncle Ling, how do you take care of your skin? You look so young.”
Fortunately, Song Jing quickly steered the conversation away. Nan Yi lowered his head to pick up his chopsticks. Someone beside him took the dirty pair that had fallen and replaced them with a new set.
Nan Yi accepted them and continued to eat the food in his bowl quietly.
After the meal.
The housekeeper walked in and stopped Nan Yi, who was about to go upstairs, carefully massaging Nan Yi’s swollen wrists.
It hurt a bit as he massaged them, and a light sweat broke out on his forehead.
He Yushen did not go upstairs but sat in the living room quietly playing with his phone.
Because He Yushen was still there, Song Jing did not leave either.
Only Ling Ran, who had been yawning, left to go upstairs after setting down his chopsticks.
The two who remained sat opposite Nan Yi. When the pain became severe, he did not want them to hear his hoarse voice, so he bit his lip tightly to keep himself from making a sound.
Just as Nan Yi finished the massage and intended to leave the living room, several men in black suits and sunglasses broke into the villa.
They were all Alphas with a powerful aura, looking just like members of the underworld.
The group burst in suddenly.
Song Jing was frightened and hid behind He Yushen.
Nan Yi, however, clenched his hands and stood his ground, though his face turned pale with fear.
He Yushen stood up with a dark face and roared coldly: “Get out!”
The men standing in two rows did not move, nor did they speak.
After a few seconds, a man wearing pajamas walked in from the door, a pair of fine gold-rimmed glasses perched on his high nose bridge.
He was similar in height to He Yushen, and their faces were eighty percent identical, only the man who walked in already had fine wrinkles beneath his glasses.
“What do you want!”
He Yushen’s face was dark. He seemed to loathe this man who resembled him so much: He Zhang, his father.
He Zhang: “I have come to take your mother home.”
He Zhang sat down in front of them. Even though he was wearing pink pajamas that were extremely ill-suited to his status, his sharp momentum had not diminished at all.
He Yushen’s temple vein bulged: “You are dreaming!”
He Zhang lifted his eyes coldly. Even while sitting, his sharp gaze carried lethal intent.
Nan Yi stood to the side, feeling his legs go weak.
He Zhang only said coldly: “Either you hand the person over, or I will take him myself.”
He Yushen: “What right do you have to take him away?”
The two men stared at each other. He Zhang did not continue to waste words with him.
The man on the sofa merely lifted his hand slightly, and the Alphas behind him stepped forward in succession to block He Yushen and Nan Yi.
“Brother Shen…”
Song Jing’s face was deathly pale. The natural awe Omegas felt toward Alphas made him terrified.
He Yushen: “Get lost!”
He Zhang simply walked slowly upstairs with a calm expression, treating He Yushen’s rage as air.
Within minutes, the man who had gone upstairs descended holding a sleeping Omega.
Ling Ran seemed to be sleeping very restlessly, his brows knitted tightly together.
Fragments of words squeezed out of his lips.
“Zhang… Brother… you… I hate you…”
The man who had remained emotionless throughout the ordeal frowned slightly after hearing the fragmented voice of the person in his arms.
A scent of rose-like soothing pheromones wafted out, and the person in He Zhang’s arms relaxed his tightly knitted brows.
Nan Yi seemed to be comforted by this fragrance as well.
However, the oppressive scent of peppermint followed immediately after.
He Yushen looked at his father fiercely: “Let him go! You have no right to touch him!”
