CEO’s Little Wife 23
Unlike Shen Yan’s restlessness and impulsiveness, Qiao Yu’s reaction was much calmer, because kissing Shen Yan was something he had long wanted to do.
Every day after a full day of classes, Qiao Yu would be exhausted. It was a real ordeal. After kissing Shen Yan last time, he had felt full of energy. If he could kiss Shen Yan before class, wouldn’t that feel incredible?
So the two of them, with completely different purposes and thoughts, had entirely opposite trains of thought after kissing.
Qiao Yu: harboring ulterior motives.
Shen Yan: He loves me so much.
So after kissing Shen Yan, Qiao Yu, who had never once listened in class throughout all his time at school, finally did not sleep in class for the first time. Instead, he propped his head up and lazily watched the teacher lecture.
Even Lu Huai, who was sitting beside him and always ready to reach out and catch him, found it unusual and asked Qiao Yu why he wasn’t sleeping today, only to get a light glare in return.
What kind of talk was that? As if he were some bad student.
『Aren’t you?』
01’s words left Qiao Yu a little speechless. In that instant, his fighting spirit briefly flared, and he decided to listen carefully to one class and prove it to him.
Then, halfway through the lesson, his head dipped and he fell asleep again, so he didn’t see the “just as expected” expressions that 01 and Lu Huai wore at the same time.
When the timer rang, Lu Huai gently woke Qiao Yu. The latter was still drowsy and blinked at him with an innocent look that nearly melted Lu Huai’s heart into a pool of sweet water.
“Class is over. It’s time to go eat lunch.”
Looking up, he saw that many students had already left. In the large classroom, besides the two of them, hardly anyone remained.
“Hmm… no.”
Qiao Yu had no class this afternoon, and Shen Yan was coming to pick him up to take him home for lunch.
“All right. I actually made some snacks myself. I was planning to give them to you.”
As soon as Lu Huai finished speaking, Qiao Yu’s stomach immediately growled. He had not been able to eat breakfast, and after half a day of classes, he was already so hungry his chest felt pressed against his stomach.
Qiao Yu hadn’t really heard what Lu Huai said. In order not to starve to death at school, he even quickened his pace a little more than usual. Even so, the walk from the classroom to the university entrance was still extremely difficult for him.
He seemed to have low blood sugar.
The moment his legs went weak, Qiao Yu already warned himself that this was bad, and then his knees gave way and he staggered back two steps. If Lu Huai hadn’t reacted quickly, Qiao Yu would have fallen.
“Little Fish, Little Fish, what’s wrong?”
The chocolate Shen Yan usually kept ready for Qiao Yu would have come in handy right now, but Qiao Yu couldn’t even think of it.
“I’m hungry…”
The boy’s voice had always carried a lazy softness, but at that moment it seemed tinged with grievance, pitiful beyond words.
Lu Huai was stunned for a moment, then realized what Qiao Yu meant and quickly half-supported and half-carried him to a less conspicuous bench nearby.
He pulled out a brand-new insulated lunch box he carried with him, opened it gently, picked up a piece of sugar cake, and brought it to Qiao Yu’s lips.
“Little Fish, I made this myself.”
Qiao Yu couldn’t really make out what Lu Huai was saying anymore. He had no strength left, collapsed in Lu Huai’s arms, almost entirely wrapped in that close embrace.
A sweet fragrance suddenly reached his nose, like a little hook, drawing Qiao Yu forward until he couldn’t resist biting into one corner of the sugar cake.
The instant his taste buds registered the flavor, Qiao Yu’s drooping eyes lit up. Maybe it was because he was hungry, or maybe because the person who made it was truly skilled, but Qiao Yu really felt that this was the best thing he had ever eaten in this world.
It was so moving.
“Is it good?”
Qiao Yu nodded hard. “Mm.”
Then he looked up at Lu Huai with eager, pleading eyes, his meaning obvious: he wanted more.
Lu Huai couldn’t hold back a laugh and offered the sugar cake to Qiao Yu’s lips again, watching the person in his arms leave one little bite mark after another.
If one didn’t know Qiao Yu was really just craving the sugar cake, anyone who saw this scene would probably think they were a deeply loving couple.
The slender, beautiful boy was held in someone’s arms, his eyes and brows filled with joy and satisfaction as he was fed something, intimate and inseparable, the atmosphere tender and lingering.
That was also what Shen Yan saw… a scene that could drive him crazy.
The boy who had been tilting his head up to ask him for a kiss that very morning was now lying in someone else’s arms receiving food in the afternoon. He had rushed over from the company to pick him up for lunch, worried for a long time that something might have happened, and what he saw when he came looking was this.
He should have known. Qiao Yu had no heart. Whoever was good to him, he would go with them. No guard at all. No brains at all.
His presence was far too obvious, and his gaze too intense. Just as Qiao Yu was eating contentedly and squinting in happiness, Lu Huai had already spotted Shen Yan’s figure. The moment he lifted his eyes, there was no trace of tenderness left in them; what remained was almost entirely provocation toward Shen Yan.
Just as Qiao Yu was eating happily, his view was suddenly blocked by a shadow. Before he could look up properly, the next second he was already being wrapped around the waist and pulled into someone’s arms.
The cold, calm scent of wood was Shen Yan’s scent.
“Shen…”
Before Qiao Yu could even finish speaking, he was lifted upward, and his entire upper body ended up draped over Shen Yan’s shoulder.
Shen Yan didn’t say a word. Lu Huai didn’t stop him either. Under the curious gazes of the students passing by Jingda University, they hurried all the way back to the car.
When the car door opened, Qiao Yu was thrown into the passenger seat.
Actually, “thrown” wasn’t quite accurate, because even though Shen Yan was so angry it felt like his lungs were about to explode, he still held back his strength and didn’t let Qiao Yu feel pain.
After closing the car door, he returned to the driver’s seat. Even before starting the car, he didn’t forget to fasten Qiao Yu’s seatbelt. His movements didn’t look much different from usual, but his expression was clearly different.
Shen Yan was angry.
As the CEO protagonist, Shen Yan looked very intimidating when angry. His stern face was filled with fury, and between his furrowed brows simmered a kind of mad intensity.
Qiao Yu even instinctively shrank into the corner of the seatback, wanting to stay farther away from Shen Yan.
Who knew what kind of crazy fit the protagonist was having? He looked like he wanted to kill someone. Was it because Qiao Yu had been too close to Lu Huai and the CEO got jealous?
Whatever the reason, Qiao Yu felt that if he didn’t hurry up and find a way to soothe him, he might get beaten.
He could lie there and wait to die, but he couldn’t let himself be hurt to death.
“Mr. Shen, are you angry?”
His answer was silence. Shen Yan even kept accelerating, and at the fastest point, he was already going one hundred and twenty miles an hour.
