CEO’s Little Wife 4
In his line of sight, Qiao Yu was not only barefoot, he also looked as if he wasn’t wearing pants.
He had somehow found a loose oversized shirt and put it on sloppily. There was still a faint dampness in his hair, as if he’d just come out of the bathroom. A slight flush colored his snow-white skin, and he was rubbing his eyes as Aunt Zhou led him forward.
Qiao Yu’s legs were very white and slender, with smooth, straight lines. Only above the thighs was there a bit of flesh. He lifted a hand, revealing the edge of a pair of gray shorts, and only then did Shen Yan realize he wasn’t pantsless at all; the shirt hem was just too long and covered the shorts.
“Why aren’t you wearing shoes?”
Although it was already early spring, the weather was still warm one moment and cold the next, and it was easy to catch a cold. If his feet were pressed against the icy floor, it would be strange if he didn’t get sick.
When Qiao Yu heard him, he reacted almost reflexively, fiddling with the somewhat loose cochlear implant. Shen Yan repeated himself, and only then did he hear clearly.
“I’m used to it…”
What kind of habit was that? Shen Yan frowned, set down his chopsticks, but in the end said nothing. Instead, he told Aunt Zhou nearby to get a pair of slippers.
Only after Qiao Yu’s feet stepped into the soft slippers did Shen Yan’s expression improve a little. Ignoring Aunt Zhou’s muffled snickering from the side, Shen Yan said without looking up, “Eat.”
Qiao Yu clearly had not fully woken from his sleepy haze. He held the bowl in both hands, blinking several times without remembering to pick up his chopsticks, and Shen Yan was almost losing his composure watching him.
“How are you supposed to eat without chopsticks?”
Qiao Yu only then realized that he wasn’t at his own home now, and no one would sweetly feed him. So he clumsily picked up his chopsticks, blankly grabbed a mouthful of porridge, and then all of it leaked through the gap, leaving only a few pale grains of rice behind.
Shen Yan completely lost it, letting out a frustrated laugh. He really could not understand how someone could be this stupid.
“Don’t you know how to use a spoon?”
The chopsticks in his hand were suddenly snatched away, and a spoon was quickly shoved into his hand. Qiao Yu blinked, still clearly out of it. He answered softly and dazedly, then lowered his head to take small sips of the tasteless plain congee.
When Qiao Yu ate, he still looked weak and listless, always giving Shen Yan the illusion that he might fall asleep at any moment. Even though the porridge wasn’t hot, he insisted on blowing on it first, then drinking half, pausing, and only then finishing the rest in the spoon.
Qiao Yu was really too thin. His frail, delicate wrists always gave Shen Yan the impression that he could break them without much effort at all.
Watching him, Shen Yan reached out and picked up a piece of shrimp, placing it on the plate in front of Qiao Yu.
Qiao Yu, who was drinking porridge, glanced over as if trying to figure out what it was. After looking at it twice, he said softly, “I don’t eat shrimp.”
Shen Yan’s hand paused, then he moved around the shrimp dish and picked out a piece of boneless fish, placing it on Qiao Yu’s small plate. “No bones.”
Qiao Yu shook his head again. “I’m allergic to seafood.”
Shen Yan had picked twice and hit two landmines. Not willing to believe it, he picked up a piece of beef.
“Beef gives me a stomachache.”
Shen Yan went to pick vegetables next.
“I’m allergic to this too.”
Chestnut cake.
“Nut allergies too.”
Shen Yan slammed his chopsticks down and asked through gritted teeth, “What aren’t you allergic to?”
Qiao Yu thought about it carefully. “A lot.”
Shen Yan raised an eyebrow. “For example?”
Qiao Yu got stuck. In that instant, he couldn’t think of anything at all. He lifted the bowl in his hand. “Porridge?”
Shen Yan: “…”
Completely losing interest in feeding Qiao Yu, Shen Yan raised a hand to rub his forehead and said rather helplessly, “Later, tell Aunt Zhou everything you’re allergic to. Just be careful from now on.”
After saying that, Shen Yan pressed his lips with the napkin beside him, stood up, and walked outside. “I’m going to class now.”
“Living under someone else’s roof,” Qiao Yu didn’t want to be too thoughtless. He followed him a couple of steps and, seeing Shen Yan putting on his shoes at the door, casually said something polite. “Come back early.”
From Shen Yan’s point of view, what he saw was Qiao Yu in that oversized shirt, looking up at him obediently to say goodbye. The ill-fitting shirt looked just like the trendy boyfriend shirt of the moment.
That scene was exactly like a little wife who had gone wild with him for a whole night, seeing him off after breakfast and telling him to come back early.
Seeing that Shen Yan still hadn’t left, Qiao Yu seemed to think of something else. Using the motion of straightening his collar, he secretly stood on tiptoe and brushed his fingertips against Shen Yan’s skin.
Qiao Yu’s limp, weak body instantly filled with a burst of strength. Wow! The protagonist is really powerful!
Qiao Yu was satisfied. His previously listless brows and eyes brightened at once, but in Shen Yan’s eyes, it was another kind of scenery.
Damn.
Shen Yan almost couldn’t stop himself from lowering his head to ask for a kiss.
But in the end, he didn’t do that. He only gave a soft “mm.”
Even though Shen Yan kept a proper, cold expression on the surface, his heart was not necessarily the same. After so many years of going to class no matter the weather, President Shen wanted, for the first time in his life, to skip class and stay home.
Before Shen Yan left, he still couldn’t resist. He reached out and pinched Qiao Yu’s ear, and his expression softened a little in that instant. “I’ll come back early tonight.”
Qiao Yu didn’t dodge. This time, it wasn’t because he was lazy; he was genuinely craving it. Even if Shen Yan wanted to hit him right now, he would be willing. Feeling so healthy was simply too wonderful.
When Shen Yan left, he seemed to be in a pretty good mood, and he did not forget to remind Qiao Yu not to sleep anymore. Qiao Yu agreed with a stream of “mm-hmm, ah, ah” on his lips, but in reality, the moment Shen Yan left, he sneaked right back into bed.
There was nothing in heaven or on earth more worth being happy about than sleeping.
Qiao Yu slept again, deeply and without waking once, and it wasn’t until evening, when Aunt Zhou came upstairs to call him for dinner, that he sleepily and sluggishly went downstairs to eat.
Dinner was obviously much richer than breakfast. Whether Aunt Zhou had remembered Qiao Yu’s allergies or not, seafood and nuts no longer appeared on the dinner table. Beef was there, but it was placed farther away from Qiao Yu.
Shen Yan preferred salty and spicy flavors, so Aunt Zhou’s cooking had usually leaned that way too. But considering she didn’t know whether Qiao Yu could eat spicy food, Aunt Zhou kept the spice level moderate, at a level that ordinary people could accept.
She just hadn’t expected that Qiao Yu couldn’t take even a little spice. The moment the dish hit his mouth, Qiao Yu’s little face turned red from the heat, and he started coughing uncontrollably.
He coughed so hard that tears welled up in his eyes. Seeing this, Aunt Zhou quickly handed him a glass of water and gently patted Qiao Yu on the back. “What’s wrong? Is it too spicy?”
Qiao Yu nodded with difficulty, feeling as if he was about to cough out his lungs, but he still patted Aunt Zhou’s hand to show he was fine, forcing down his discomfort.
“It’s all Aunt Zhou’s fault, Little Fish. Here, these aren’t spicy. Eat these instead.”
But the non-spicy dishes were made especially bland, and since they were only side dishes, Qiao Yu barely ate a couple of bites before losing his appetite and listlessly putting down his chopsticks.
