These processed jade pieces were still very different from raw jade, but there were so many of them that they had to be useful somehow.
“Sister Yu, do you have enough space now?” Mu Xiaoxiao asked.
“I do. There are mainly no large items inside yet. I was thinking that if Xiaoxiao likes RVs in the future, I could stock up on a few more for you,” Meng Yu said with a smile.
“It’s fine. One RV is enough. I already found a good place before the apocalypse. Today, let’s scout the area first and see whether the zombies outside are all slow moving or if any of them have evolved. If everything looks fine, we can set out again tomorrow,” Mu Xiaoxiao added.
They had come out in the morning, so the two of them found a clean place to eat lunch before continuing in the afternoon. Since it was not easy to come all this way, and they had not encountered any danger, it would be best to head back before dark.
That afternoon, they cleared out an electric scooter shop and each got an electric scooter. Riding through the streets was much more comfortable than walking.
Before long, they arrived at a shopping mall. When the zombie outbreak began, there had been many people shopping and wandering around there, so the entire area inside and outside was filled with zombies. Although the supplies inside were tempting, neither of them had the ability to charge in.
However, luring the zombies on the outskirts over and dealing with them one by one was not a bad idea.
Just as the two of them were getting into the rhythm of killing zombies, one zombie noticed the commotion and suddenly rushed toward them.
Neither of them noticed it. In the blink of an eye, the zombie lunged at Mu Xiaoxiao.
“Xiaoxiao, watch out behind you!” Meng Yu was occupied with another zombie and could only shout a warning as she watched helplessly.
Mu Xiaoxiao turned around and saw the zombie right in front of her. She froze in fear, but at the critical moment, Lu Xuan threw himself at her and knocked her to the ground, allowing them to avoid the attack.
“Ow!” Lu Xuan cried out in pain.
After killing the zombie in front of her, Meng Yu hurried over and asked worriedly, “Xiaoxiao, are you alright?”
“I’m fine, Sister Yu. Be careful of that zombie. It has to be at least Level 1. Ordinary zombies aren’t that fast,” Mu Xiaoxiao said, forcing down the fear in her heart as she analyzed the situation.
“Alright.”
Meng Yu immediately turned around and went after the Level 1 zombie, her anger making her attacks even more forceful.
Mu Xiaoxiao came back to her senses and asked Lu Xuan, “Are you alright?”
Lu Xuan frowned. “My leg hurts.”
Mu Xiaoxiao noticed that his pants were torn and blood was flowing from the wound. Her heart sank. Blood was practically an irresistible lure for zombies.
“Can you stand?”
Lu Xuan moved his leg slightly. “I think so.”
“I’ll help you.”
With Mu Xiaoxiao supporting him, Lu Xuan slowly got to his feet. The two of them then moved to an area farther away from the zombies.
Meanwhile, Meng Yu and the Level 1 zombie were locked in a fierce battle.
Of course, it was really just a one sided beating. Although it was a Level 1 zombie, its original body clearly belonged to someone who had never endured much hardship. Even after reaching Level 1 and recovering the strength of an ordinary person, it was still no match for Meng Yu in terms of skill and physical strength. At most, it was simply harder to kill.
Even with its limbs broken, it continued attacking Meng Yu. In the end, she smashed its head and finished it off.
“Sister Yu, check whether it has a crystal core,” Mu Xiaoxiao reminded her.
Meng Yu searched through its head and found a silvery white crystal. “It does.”
“Then let’s go quickly. Lu Xuan’s blood has stirred up the zombies around the mall, and they’re all heading this way,” Mu Xiaoxiao warned.
Meng Yu took out the car and stored their two electric scooters away.
Lu Xuan’s eyes widened in shock as he watched. What kind of amazing ability was that?
Mu Xiaoxiao helped Lu Xuan into the car.
“Hey, beautiful, could you store my electric scooter too?” he asked. “I walked a long way today and finally found some transportation. I really don’t want to leave it behind.”
Meng Yu nodded and stored the electric scooter in front of them.
Before the zombies could reach them, the three quickly started the car.
Seeing several zombies sprinting after them at incredible speed, Meng Yu said, “Hold on tight. I’m speeding up.”
She slammed her foot on the accelerator, and the car shot forward. Before long, they had left the pursuing zombies far behind.
Meng Yu gradually slowed the car down.
“Thank you for saving me today,” Mu Xiaoxiao said.
“Hehe, don’t mention it,” Lu Xuan replied, scratching his head shyly.
“When we get back, I’ll treat your wound.”
“Zhang, they’re back!” Chen Wen ran into the room and said.
“Watch and see which villa they enter,” Zhang Qiang ordered.
Meng Yu drove into the villa’s garage and parked the car.
Mu Xiaoxiao helped Lu Xuan inside and seated him on the sofa. She took out the first aid kit, cut away part of his pants, cleaned and disinfected the wound, applied some anti-inflammatory powder, and finally bandaged it.
“You hurt your leg because you saved me, so I’ll take responsibility until you recover. For now, stay in the guest room downstairs until your leg is mostly healed,” Mu Xiaoxiao said after giving it some thought.
“How could I possibly accept that? It’s just one injured leg. I can still take care of myself. I just can’t go outside for the time being,” Lu Xuan said, trying to refuse.
“It’s settled, so don’t feel awkward about it,” Mu Xiaoxiao said.
“Uh, alright then. I’ll have to trouble you both,” Lu Xuan said shyly.
“By the way, do you live alone?”
“Yeah, it’s just me. My dad bought this villa for me.”
“Where are your parents now?”
“My mom passed away. After my dad remarried, he went abroad and stopped caring about me. Whenever I run out of money, I just ask him for more,” Lu Xuan said casually as if he were talking about something completely ordinary.
“Sorry,” Mu Xiaoxiao said, realizing that she might have brought up something painful.
“It’s nothing. I’m used to it. Living alone is actually pretty comfortable. I can do whatever I want, I never have to worry about money, and no one tells me what to do,” Lu Xuan said with a laugh.
“Sister Yu, make some porridge tonight. Lu Xuan is injured, so he should eat something light. There’s still plenty of time, so we can also absorb the crystal core we got today and see whether it can help you level up,” Mu Xiaoxiao said.
“Alright. You go get cleaned up first. I’ll wait until you come out before absorbing it,” Meng Yu replied. She had gone upstairs to wash up as soon as they returned and had only just come back down.
“Oh, right! Should I change my clothes too? I don’t want to dirty your sofa or bed. Maybe I should just go back to my own place,” Lu Xuan suddenly said.
“No need. We’ll get you a change of clothes later. Your wound was just bandaged, so when you clean yourself, just use a wet towel and avoid the injured area,” Mu Xiaoxiao said.
“Leave Xiaoxiao’s part to me,” Meng Yu said.
She cleaned up the guest room on the first floor, then took out a set of men’s clothes and underwear and placed them in the bathroom. She also prepared a bucket of warm water, a towel, and a stool.
“I’ll help you wash up,” Meng Yu said when she came out.
“I can manage!” Lu Xuan said as he stood up, intending to walk on one leg, but he nearly fell.
“Forget it, I’ll help you,” Meng Yu said helplessly.
Lu Xuan was too embarrassed to refuse again. He really could not manage on his own.
“I’ve prepared everything. If you need anything, just call me.”
“Thanks, Sister Yu.”
Since Mu Xiaoxiao called her that, Lu Xuan decided to use the same form of address. It sounded both polite and friendly.
After Meng Yu left, Lu Xuan sat on the stool and removed his clothes. He used the wet towel to wipe himself down, then noticed that the clothes she had prepared even included underwear, making his face turn red in embarrassment.
After changing, he supported himself against the wall and made his way out of the room.
Meng Yu heard the movement and said, “Why didn’t you call me?”
She immediately walked over to support him and helped him back to the sofa.
