“Pei Sheng, what did that Alpha say to you?”
His friend nudged him in the arm, eyes gleaming with gossip.
“Don’t bother me.”
Pei Sheng brushed him off impatiently.
Always bringing up the one thing he least wanted to hear.
The moment anyone mentioned Alpha, his mind went straight back to the image of Su Xu pinning him single-handedly against the blackboard and the humiliating recording that followed.
Who knew when Su Xu would release that audio?
Just thinking about it made Pei Sheng’s leg bounce restlessly under the desk.
He clicked the end of his electronic pen over and over again, the sharp click-click sound slicing through the quiet classroom.
The white lightning-shaped pen tip kept flashing in and out.
“…What’s wrong with him?”
“Who knows? He’s been acting like this ever since he came back.”
“Wait! Don’t tell me he actually confessed? Damn, I shouldn’t have egged him on before. Ahem!
forget it, the teacher’s looking this way. Pei Sheng, I’ll buy you dinner tonight, yeah?”
Pei Sheng didn’t answer.
His head was a mess. He just wanted some peace and quiet.
Su Xu….. Always Su Xu.
Maybe others didn’t know, but he did that Su Xu might look like some well-bred gentleman, but underneath that polished façade was a ruthless man who’d do things far worse than just recording someone.
Who knew what he’d pull next? Maybe next time, he’d send a bunch of Alpha thugs to beat him up.
No, he wasn’t stupid enough to cross Su Xu again.
The worst part was, Su Xu was too good-looking. If anything ever happened, all he had to do was stand there with those perfect features and say blankly, “I didn’t know anything.”
And those brainless Alphas would all believe him.
Too vicious! So what if he was good-looking?! What’s there to be so proud of?
The more Pei Sheng thought about it, the angrier he became. Finally, he buried his head in his arms and pretended to sleep.
Somehow, he actually dozed off. When he woke again, the classroom was completely empty.
He looked around in confusion, frowning, and immediately called his friend while hurriedly packing up. “Why did you all leave without me? Class ended and no one woke me up! Seriously, you guys are so annoying.”
There was a short pause on the other end then a cold laugh.
“Pei Sheng, are you seriously pretending right now? Still got the nerve to complain to me? The whole school network’s seen what you did. We’re done with you! None of us wants to hang around a backstabber.”
Pei Sheng froze, a flicker of panic flashing through him, then came an odd sense of resignation.
Still… What did that have to do with Su Xu?
Why was his friend so angry?
A bad feeling sank into his stomach. He opened the campus intranet and right there, at the very top, was a post about him.
But it wasn’t what he expected.
The post didn’t expose him insulting Su Xu. Instead, it revealed him slandering his own friends, complete with screenshots of him complaining about them and accusing them of stealing from him.
Pei Sheng’s face was drained of color. He scrolled frantically down the thread, but there was nothing else, no mention of Su Xu at all.
It was as if everything Su Xu had shown him before, the “evidence” and that damning recording, had been nothing but a dream.
“F*ck… ”
How could this happen? He would’ve rather Su Xu released the insults, it’d be better than this.
At least if people knew he hated Su Xu, his friends could understand; everyone already knew they didn’t get along. But this? Thiis made him look like a jealous liar who framed his own friends.
Staring at the posts he himself had once fabricated, Pei Sheng slowly sank back into his seat, his expression blank.
He knew then that for the rest of his university life,
he wouldn’t have any friends left.
After class, Su Xu gathered his books and was about to leave when a voice called out from the front rows.
“Su Xu, wait a second!”
Su Xu paused.
Qiu Jiang, sitting a few rows ahead, scrambled to shove his notebook into his bag. Under the curious gazes of their classmates, he hurried over, pulling a slightly crumpled ticket from his pocket.
“Here,” he said, thrusting it toward Su Xu. “This is for you.”
Su Xu glanced down at the ticket in his hand.
It was for a lecture event, the left side printed with the image of Imperial University’s main hall, and the right side listing the date and time, tonight, from eight to ten.
He flipped it over. The back was blank. Nothing special.
“You probably haven’t heard yet,” Qiu Jiang said, slinging his bag back over his shoulder with a grin. “There’s a big shot coming to give a talk tonight. Word is, he’s one of His Majesty’s closest officers, young, already a general! After the lecture, they’ll randomly pick a few people for a live mecha combat demonstration. Everyone’s going crazy over it. Tickets like this are impossible to get!”
Su Xu handed the ticket back. “Sorry, I’m not really into lectures.”
“No, no, don’t give it back.”
Qiu Jiang waved his hands quickly. “Actually, the department belle asked me to give it to you. Even though you embarrassed her a little in public before, you really helped her out that time. You know how it is, once an A and O are officially in a relationship, the Omega usually entrusts their heat to their partner…”
He coughed awkwardly, lowering his voice as his eyes darted to the few classmates still lingering nearby.
“Anyway, I heard that general is still single. They say he’s charming, has a great sense of humor… You’re good-looking, Su Xu, what if he falls for you at first sight?”
Su Xu: “…”
He couldn’t help but laugh. “What on earth goes on in your heads all day?”
Qiu Jiang’s face flushed bright red, “Well, it’s true that Zhong Heng’s a pain to deal with,” he muttered, lowering his voice in a huff,“Anyway, it’s yours now. If you really don’t want to go, you can give it away or just toss it.”
Su Xu thought for a moment, then nodded,“Alright.”
He slipped the ticket into his pocket. “Then I’ll just give it to someone else.”
Qiu Jiang: “…”
He was kidding! And Su Xu actually took it seriously!
Su Xu left the classroom and sent a quick message to his younger brother.
[Su Xu]: Where are you?
No reply.
Su Rui, only a freshman, wasn’t majoring in logistics like most Omegas who wanted an easy ride. Instead, he’d chosen a course dominated by Betas, mecha repair and his schedule was packed from morning to night.
Su Xu thought for a moment, recalled his brother’s timetable, and walked straight toward the building where Su Rui’s class was held.
Sure enough, the class was still in session. A group of students clustered around a towering mecha as the instructor lectured and demonstrated, showing no signs of ending anytime soon.
So, Su Xu sat down on a bench outside to wait.
After about half an hour, the instructor finally stepped out from the front door. Seeing Su Xu there, he blinked in surprise, “Su Xu? What are you doing here?”
Su Xu immediately stood, offering a polite smile. “Hello, Professor. I’m waiting for my younger brother.”
“Your brother? Oh… Su Rui, right?” The man glanced back into the classroom, tone casual.
“He’s a hardworking one, but really, his gender doesn’t fit this kind of field. An Omega, just like you, he should’ve studied logistics or management, something more suitable. But no, he insisted on joining our department. Tsk.”
He clicked his tongue, the sound carrying a faint, judgmental tone, before turning back to call, “Su Rui! Your brother’s here!”
“Professor… “ Su Xu’s voice was gentle but firm.
The instructor paused, a bit puzzled. “What is it? Something else?”
Su Xu’s expression didn’t change, still that mild, refined smile he always wore when speaking to teachers,“Yes, Su Rui is my biological brother. When he decided to study mecha repair, our entire family supported his choice. You’re right,he’s an Omega. But he’s also someone willing to work hard for his dream. So I hope, Professor, that you’ll continue to look after him.”
“…Of course,” the man said after a short silence, a little embarrassed.
Su Xu’s smile deepened. “Then I’ll thank you in advance. When the New Year comes, I’ll bring him over to pay you a visit.”
The teacher chuckled, clearly pleased. “That’s very kind of you.”
Meanwhile, inside the classroom, Su Rui had heard everything. He deliberately slowed down his movements, his usual efficient pace suddenly turning sluggish.
It took him a while before he finally came out, stopping in front of Su Xu but instead of meeting his brother’s eyes, his gaze fixed on the window behind him.
“…Why are you here?” he asked flatly.
Su Xu looked at him with calm patience. “To give you something.”
Su Rui frowned.
The hallway was crowded, mostly first-year students filling the space between classes.
Many of them had heard of Su Xu, though few had actually seen him in person.
Now, spotting the famed “beautiful senior” standing in the corridor, they couldn’t help circling around, pretending to pass by again and again, stealing glances at the two of them.
The attention made Su Rui deeply uncomfortable. Suppressing his irritation, he muttered, “Can’t you give it to me at home?”
Su Xu glanced at the time on his terminal. “It’s already seven-thirty. If I waited until we got home, you wouldn’t make it in time.”
He pulled the ticket from his pocket and held it out, “The ticket to tonight’s lecture. Go.”
Su Rui froze.
He didn’t take it right away, but one look was enough for him to recognize it instantly. This was the ticket everyone had been talking about lately.
The lecture by a powerful military figure, rumored to be one of the Emperor’s closest aides.
For Alphas and Betas, it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness greatness, or even be selected for a live mecha combat demonstration.
If you caught that general’s eye, your future was practically guaranteed.
And for Omegas, it was something else entirely, a romantic fantasy, the hope of a dazzling first encounter with someone extraordinary.
Tickets were impossibly rare. The school network had gone wild, resellers were posting fake offers, and no one who actually had a ticket was willing to sell.
Yet now, that ticket was being handed to him.
Su Rui looked up, eyes complicated. “…You’re not going?”
“I’m not interested in lectures,” Su Xu replied simply.
“…”
Several passing classmates overheard and immediately jumped in.
“What are you doing just standing there, Su Rui? Your brother’s giving it to you, take it! That’s the lecture ticket! We spent days trying and still couldn’t get one!”
“Yeah, dude, what are you waiting for?”
“Damn, lucky you! I wish I had a brother like him…”
Those words seemed to flip a switch inside Su Rui. His expression turned pale, then flushed red. Something dark and rebellious flickered across his face.
With a sudden motion, he slapped Su Xu’s hand away. The ticket fluttered to the ground.
“I don’t need you to give me anything,” he said coldly, the defiance etched deep in every word. “I’m not going.”
Su Xu raised an eyebrow, gaze lowering briefly to the ticket on the floor.
Before he could move, a nearby student darted forward, quickly picking it up and holding it out to him.
“Here, your ticket,” the student said, slightly flustered.
Su Xu nodded politely. “Thank you.”
The boy’s face flushed bright red. “N-no problem…”
But Su Xu didn’t take the ticket back.
Instead, he looked at the student and said lightly, “Since Su Rui doesn’t want it, you can have it.”
“Ah?” The boy froze, wide-eyed.
For a moment, he couldn’t believe what he’d just heard. Then, realizing his luck, he clutched the ticket tightly and grinned from ear to ear. “Really? Thank you! Thank you so much!”
Su Xu smiled faintly, turned, and walked away.
It wasn’t until his figure disappeared down the corridor that the people around them finally snapped out of it.
“He just… gave it away like that?”
“Holy crap, you’re so lucky! If I’d known, I would’ve grabbed it myself!”
The boy was still overjoyed, turning the ticket over in his hands as if it were gold. He was about to head toward the auditorium when someone suddenly snatched it right out of his grasp.
“Hey! What the hell, Su Rui!?” he shouted in shock. “Didn’t you say you didn’t want it!?”
Su Rui glared at him, his voice sharp with anger. “I changed my mind! It’s my brother’s gift! Don’t think you can just take it!”
