Just as Su Xu stepped out of the teaching building, his terminal buzzed, Zhong Heng: “Come to the school auditorium.”

Su Xu glanced at his terminal, pretended not to see the messages, and switched it to silent. But the moment he reached the school gates, he ran straight into Zhong Heng and his usual pack of rowdy friends.

With his top-tier Omega aura and extraordinary looks, Su Xu drew attention wherever he went, there was no way to avoid it. He could only keep walking forward.Full novel: All Five Alphas want Me!!? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Hey, isn’t that Su Xu?”

“Yeah! But what’s he doing here? Shouldn’t he be at the auditorium?”

“No idea. Come on, let’s ask.”

It wasn’t often they had the chance to speak with him directly, so all of them jumped at the opportunity. In an instant, they surrounded him, voices overlapping one after another.

“Su Xu, why are you here?”

“Didn’t you get the message? Zhong Heng’s waiting for you in the auditorium.”

Su Xu raised his eyes lazily, his tone careless. “And what exactly would he be waiting for me there for?”

As he spoke, his gaze landed on one of the boys.

“That’s because…” The boy faltered mid-sentence. Under Su Xu’s unblinking stare, he grew restless, his eyes darting away, lips opening and closing, but no sound came out.

Su Xu arched a brow. “Weren’t you pretty good at talking in front of Zhong Heng? What happened, lose your tongue when it’s me?”

Everyone froze, caught off guard by his bluntness. Someone jabbed the hesitant boy in the ribs, jolting him back into action. He stammered quickly, “Zhong Heng wants to invite you to the speech.”

“What was that?” Su Xu blinked. “You said it too fast. I didn’t catch it.”

“…I said, Zhong Heng wants to invite you to the speech.”

“Hmm?”

Just that one syllable was enough. The boy’s face stiffened. He glanced around at his so-called friends for support, but each and every one of them avoided his gaze.

Color drained from his face. Still, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and repeat himself. Again and again.

It wasn’t until he had repeated it more than ten times that Su Xu finally replied, voice light and indifferent: “Oh. I’m not interested in speeches.”

“…” The boy’s lips pressed tightly together. He said nothing more.

The group exchanged uncertain looks, but none of them moved aside to let Su Xu pass.

One scratched his head, looking conflicted. “Su Xu, come on… haven’t you let out enough steam already? Just go with us. If Young Master Zhong finds out we ran into you but didn’t bring you over, he’ll blow his top and who knows how he’ll curse us out.”

“Yeah, we know you’re upset after hearing that recording. Look, if you’re still angry, take it out on us, hit us, yell at us, whatever. We’ll even apologize right here, alright?”

Su Xu gave a soft, mirthless laugh. “What’s this? You think forgiveness can be forced? Just because you say I should forgive, I’m supposed to obey?”

“Su Xu, don’t be so stubborn.”

“Even we Alphas have our pride, you know… ”

Su Xu’s face didn’t change, still that cool and distant look, but his eyes were growing increasingly impatient.

And then, a deep, commanding voice cut through the air. “What do you think you’re doing?”

The group turned at once, startled.

Though Su Xu wasn’t short, he was still an Omega, surrounded by tall, broad-shouldered Alphas.

From his position in the middle of the circle, he couldn’t even see who had spoken. Then someone whispered behind him, voice trembling, “Crap, it’s the Chancellor.”

The Chancellor of Imperial University was a legendary figure. Though only a Beta, his ability was equal to any Alpha. He was known for his decisive, no-nonsense ways, and nothing irked him more than Alpha arrogance.

The realization hit the group like cold water, crowding around an Omega like this really didn’t look good.

They scrambled to step back, clumping awkwardly together.

Su Xu finally looked up, seeing the Chancellor striding toward them with long steps. Several teachers followed behind, along with a tall man whose mere presence drew every gaze.

He wore a sharp, tailored suit, his short hair neat, his steel-gray eyes cold and piercing. Even standing silent, the aura of bloodshed and iron discipline clung to him unmistakably.

Right now, he too was watching Su Xu.

Their eyes met for an instant before Su Xu deliberately looked away, turning his gaze to the Chancellor instead.

The Chancellor’s expression was dark. He stopped before the group. “A pack of Alphas ganging up on an Omega? What, you think that’s acceptable behavior?”

Alpha bullying Omega under his watch, that was practically a crime.

The students flapped their hands frantically. “No, no, Chancellor, it’s not what you think… hello, sir! We weren’t bullying anyone, we just wanted to invite him to the speech.”

“That’s right! Today, isn’t there an important guest speaker? We were just… just asking him to come along!”

“Haha, how could we possibly bully a fellow student?”

“Is that so?” The Chancellor’s gaze swept over them, finally landing on Su Xu. “What do you say?”

Su Xu answered evenly, “I didn’t want to go, but they wouldn’t let me leave.”

“Su Xu!”

“What nonsense are you spouting!”

Someone moved as if to grab his sleeve, but under the Chancellor’s icy stare, they jerked their hand back immediately.

The Chancellor’s expression grew even colder. He checked his watch. “Names. Class. All of you report to my office tomorrow morning at eight sharp.”

A chorus of groans erupted.

“What’s going on here?”

The suited man finally stepped forward, his voice low and steady.

“General Chu,” the Chancellor said, sighing,“Since you’re here, I’d better explain.”

While the Chancellor recounted the incident, Su Xu stole another look at the man. So this was the one everyone had been talking about, the guest speaker, a star of the military, the so-called General Chu.

Su Xu’s brows furrowed slightly. The last thing he wanted was unnecessary entanglement with someone like that before the plot was over.

He was just about to smooth things over, call it a misunderstanding, and slip away home when the general’s voice came, deep and unyielding.

“Su Xu, why didn’t you come to my speech?”

Su Xu froze, eyes lifting to meet his.

“So, you two know each other?” The Chancellor’s expression shifted into something warmer. “No wonder, the moment we came through the gate, General Chu noticed something happening here and had me check.”

He gave a signal, and the teachers quickly herded the dazed Alphas away.

Then the Chancellor checked the time again, “General Chu, I’ll head to the auditorium first. As for this student Su, why don’t I trouble you to bring him along later?”

“…Alright,” Su Xu replied helplessly.

One by one, the others dispersed, leaving only Su Xu and the general standing there.

“You don’t remember me,” the man said, frowning.

Su Xu studied him carefully. “Chu… Xi Zhou?”

The man inclined his head. “It’s me.”

A trace of awkwardness flickered across Su Xu’s face. “Sorry. It’s been so many years, you’ve changed a lot.”

They had been neighbors once and even attended the same kindergarten. Childhood playmates, more or less.

But after third grade, the Chu family moved to another star system, and their paths had diverged.

Feeling the weight of subtle gazes around them, Su Xu said, “Come on, the auditorium’s this way.”

“Mm.”

Chu Xizhou had always been a quiet child, withdrawn, rarely speaking. Not even the neighborhood kids invited him to play. His years in the military had clearly not changed that. They walked together in silence.

At the main doors, Su Xu pointed. “There it is. Go on in.”

Chu Xizhou stopped, looking first at the building, then back at Su Xu. “You’re not coming?”

Su Xu shook his head, tossing out a casual excuse. “I don’t have a ticket.”

“I do.”

“…”

“No need to stand in the ceremony.” Like pulling a trick from thin air, Chu Xizhou produced a ticket. With complete sincerity, he pressed it into Su Xu’s hand,

“I only agreed to this speech because I heard you were still here. If you don’t come, I’ll be disappointed.”

“…”

The words left Su Xu no polite way to refuse. To turn him down again would be ungracious.

So he nodded.

“I’ll go prepare then,” Chu Xizhou said, and turned to leave.

Su Xu remained standing, the ticket in his hand.

“Tch.”

Lowering his lashes, he turned the ticket over and over. Strange.

This wasn’t in the original plot.

In the novel, Su Xu was a textbook villain,a paper-thin caricature. Pampered since childhood, showered with praise, only to crash into despair when he differentiated as a low-grade Omega.

Even though his parents seemed supportive, the blow twisted his psyche. He spent all his time tormenting his younger brother.

This speech? He never attended. He’d been too busy scheming against his sibling.

So if he went… What would change?

Su Xu tilted his head back toward the sky. The sun had already slipped below the horizon, leaving only the faintest cold glow over the campus.

For now, at least, the heavens showed no sign of anger.

Slipping the ticket into his pocket, he strolled toward the auditorium.

Not far away, Zhong Heng sat restlessly on a bench beneath the arching flower trellis. He checked his terminal over and over until, at last, he spotted Su Xu.

His irritation flared, and he strode forward, reaching out to grab his wrist, only for Su Xu to slip out of reach.

Zhong Heng sucked in a breath, biting back the urge to lash out. When he looked into Su Xu’s face, his temper cooled somewhat. “What took you so long? You didn’t even reply to my messages. Hurry up, the speech is about to start.”

Su Xu stayed where he was, studying him calmly. “Don’t you have something to say to me first?”

“Alright, alright, I know what you mean. I’ll make it up to you later.”

Zhong Heng had no desire to hear another word about that recording. Ever since it was leaked, though plenty still fawned over him, many Omegas now looked at him differently.

He’d always cared deeply about his reputation, of course it put him in a foul mood.

Seeing Su Xu unmoving, he snapped, “Do you have to play difficult now? Do you even realize how many people are dying for a ticket to this speech? If you keep acting like this, I won’t bring you in.”

Su Xu arched his brow. “And you think I need your ticket?”

Zhong Heng’s face darkened. He lowered his voice. “What’s that supposed to mean? Who gave you one?”

“Ah, there you are, Su.”

At that moment, the Chancellor emerged from a side door, smiling as he beckoned. “I was just thinking you might not have a ticket. Good thing I came out to check. And here you are.”

Su Xu smiled, brushing past Zhong Heng without a glance. “General Chu gave me one.”

The Chancellor nodded with satisfaction, “Excellent. Let’s head in together.”

“Of course.”

Zhong Heng stood frozen where he was.

The Chancellor? Treating Su Xu with such warmth?

And this “General Chu” Su Xu mentioned, who was he?

“General”… that title alone stirred suspicion.

His heart thudded uneasily as his gaze followed Su Xu’s retreating figure. If he remembered correctly, the guest speaker today was said to be a rising star at the Emperor’s side, a man who had earned immense merit and rocketed through the ranks to become a general.

And he… knew Su Xu? Had even given him a ticket?
