Sabrina quickly put on a flattering smile and said to Charlie in a gentle, ingratiating voice, “Class representative, welcome to Shangri-La! It’s an honor to have you here, and it’s also a pleasure to see my former university classmate again. Please, come in.”
She hoped that her compliments and gentle tone would make Charlie forget how rudely she had treated him earlier.
However, she had clearly underestimated Charlie.
Isaac was stunned when he heard Sabrina's words.
“Miss Lee, you're Mr. Wade's university classmate?”
“Yes, yes!” Sabrina replied hurriedly. “Mr. Wade was my class representative when we were in university. We were quite close!”
Isaac immediately said, “Report to the president's office tomorrow. From tomorrow onward, you'll be the Human Resources Manager of Shangri-La.”
In Shangri-La, being promoted from a team leader to HR manager represented at least a three-level jump in position.
Sabrina was so excited when she heard this that she nearly collapsed from happiness.
Charlie, however, spoke coldly.
“Mr. Isaac, do you know what kind of relationship I have with Sabrina Lee?”
Isaac assumed that Charlie was unhappy with the arrangement and immediately said, “Mr. Wade, if you're not satisfied, I can promote Miss Lee to Vice President instead.”
Charlie suddenly replied, “I called Sabrina Lee because I needed her help getting into Shangri-La since I didn't have a membership card. Instead, she insulted me for no reason and even ordered the guards to beat me.
“And now you're promoting her to Vice President? What exactly do you mean by that? Are you deliberately trying to anger me?”
Isaac felt the blood drain from his face.
The look he gave Sabrina was filled with anger and fury.
He raised his hand and slapped her across the face.
“How dare you offend Mr. Wade?”
Sabrina was terrified. She immediately dropped to her knees, trembling as she begged.
“Mr. Isaac, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!”
Isaac raised his leg and kicked her hard, sending her several feet away.
“You ignorant bitch! I'll teach you a lesson today so you'll understand the price of offending Mr. Wade!”
He then turned to the security guards and shouted, “Give her a good beating! Don't hold back! And make sure everyone in Aurouss Hilll knows that anyone who dares to employ her is going against me, Cameron Isaac!”
Sabrina was terrified.
“Mr. Isaac, I'm sorry! Please forgive me!”
Isaac's face turned bright red with anger.
“Now you know you're sorry? Where was that remorse earlier? How dare you provoke Mr. Wade? If it weren't for him, I would have dealt with you myself!”
Sabrina dropped to her knees and crawled toward Charlie. She bowed deeply.
“Mr. Wade, I'm sorry. I'm truly sorry!”
Charlie glanced at her coldly.
“Sabrina Lee, we were classmates. Why did you have to insult me and my wife?”
“Class representative, I wasn't myself just now. It's all because of my foul mouth. Please forgive me.”
“I wouldn't have attacked you,” Charlie said coldly, “if you hadn't insulted me first.”
Isaac immediately roared, “Bitch! Don't you dare bother Mr. Wade again. If you do, I'll tear that plastic face of yours apart!”
Sabrina didn't dare say another word. She simply knelt on the floor and cried bitterly.
Charlie ignored her completely.
He looked at Isaac and said firmly, “I want to discuss the Sky Garden with you. Let's go to your office.”
Isaac nodded immediately and led the way.
“Of course, Mr. Wade. Please come this way.”
Before leaving, he turned to the guards and shouted, “Teach her a lesson. Don't stop until I tell you to!”
“Yes, Mr. Isaac!”
The guards nodded fearfully. They rushed toward Sabrina, pushed her to the floor, and began beating her.
Behind Charlie, Sabrina's cries and screams continued, but he paid no attention to them.
Isaac accompanied him into Shangri-La.
Once they reached Isaac's office, Charlie got straight to the point.
“My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary in a few days. I want to reserve the entire Sky Garden. Is that possible?”
Isaac immediately replied, “Young Master, for the sake of fairness to our premium members, we normally don't allow the Sky Garden to be booked exclusively. Not even the most influential politicians in the city can reserve it entirely.
“But for you, the Sky Garden will be reserved whenever you need it.”
Charlie said calmly, “That's not necessary. I only need it for my wedding anniversary. Besides, I need your help preparing a surprise for my wife.”
“No problem!” Isaac replied. “Please rest assured. All the staff at Shangri-La and I will follow your instructions and do everything we can to meet your requests.”
After settling everything at Shangri-La, Charlie took a bus home.
He noticed that almost every passenger was watching videos or short clips on their phones.
To his surprise, they were all watching the same video.
It was the video of him displaying thirteen million dollars in cash at Emerald Court a few days earlier.
The video began with Stephen and a group of bodyguards getting out of several black Rolls-Royces.
The footage then showed the bodyguards carrying numerous black suitcases into Emerald Court and throwing them onto the floor, leaving the arrogant sales manager completely stunned.
The entire incident had been recorded and uploaded to the internet.
Fortunately, the video never clearly captured Charlie's face.
The footage spread throughout Aurouss Hilll like wildfire.
Everyone was curious about the identity of the mysterious ultra-rich man behind the incident.
Many women even began fantasizing about meeting their own mysterious Prince Charming and becoming part of a rags-to-riches Cinderella story.
Charlie sighed in relief after repeatedly checking the video and confirming that his face was too blurry to be recognized.
Meanwhile, Claire had successfully secured the contract with the Emgrand Group and was about to be appointed director of the Wilson Group.
After being mocked and ridiculed for so many years, Claire and her family could finally step into the spotlight.
Fortunately, thanks to their improved fortunes, even Charlie's in-laws no longer treated him with as much contempt as they once had.
Elaine said happily, “Hah! I'm so happy today! My daughter is incredible!”
She then turned to Charlie with a rare smile.
“Charlie, despite how useless you've been all this time, I'll give you credit where it's due. Claire managed to succeed because of your encouragement.
“So you don't have to cook dinner tonight. We'll go out and celebrate!”
Claire smiled.
“Let's go to Kempinski!”
“That's too expensive!” Elaine exclaimed in surprise. “It's at least a thousand dollars per person, isn't it?”
Claire laughed happily.
“Mom, a director's salary is very high. The annual income is one million dollars.”
“Wow!”
Elaine clapped her hands excitedly.
“That's amazing! My dear Claire has finally achieved something great!”
After thinking for a moment, she continued, “But you'll have to give me seventy percent of your salary. You young people don't know how to manage money properly. Give it to me, and I'll manage it for you. I'm sure I'll handle it much better than you could.”
Claire nodded.
“Mom, don't insult Charlie anymore. He's your son-in-law, after all!”
“Okay, okay!” Elaine agreed. “For your sake, I'll try not to criticize him as much as I normally do.”
