It’s like it’s all he sees He does not even bother to spare me a glance as his gaze sweeps across the field.
I can’t help but feel more hurt.
I look at Lexi who is looking with such adoration in her at the man who was given to me.
She is so drawn to him that she is oblivious to what is happening next to her.
Are they in love with each other?
Kayden continues to speak with such confidence, everything he says after is such a blur is can’t even pay attention anymore.
I stare at his faint pink full lips.
He is forming words with those sexy lips but I simply can’t listen to any word he says not when my heart is breaking.
He did come for revenge.
I can tell he took the time to plan everything out very well.
First, he claimed my pack.
Then made sure I lost my position the same very position that made me reject him in the first place cause I thought a beta and omega weren’t fit for each other.
As if all that isn’t enough I know he is here to break my heart too.
Does he see it though?
“ So I hope everyone paid great attention to what Alpha Kayden said.” Beta Aiden says.
Wow.
I am as lost as ever.
“ Real training begins tomorrow as for today you can call it orientation.
Make sure you come ready tomorrow.
Have the time of your lives if you want to cause after tomorrow it’s gonna be hell.” Beta Aiden’s voice sounds so fierce I almost shiver, from fear of course.
“ Well, that was interesting.
My mate is sure ready to make us train hard.” Lexi speaks beside me and I can’t help but feel a little bad that I forgot she sat next to me.
Letting out a short nervous laugh I smile at her cause honestly I didn’t hear anything Kayden said.
I ignore the way she called Kayden her mate.
Deep down I wanna scream at her that the man is mine but I keep it cool I don’t want anyone to find out yet.
I look away, trying my best to destruct myself.
Before I leash out.
It ain’t easy at all that I also have to hold down my wolf who wants to bite Lexi’s head off for calling our mate hers.
My gaze meets beta Aidens and he gives me a very hard mean look.
I bet he knows.
But Lexi doesn’t this much I know or she wouldn’t be sitting next to me the way she is.
“ So since we have a free day would you love to join me for lunch there is this nice place I love within the pack.”
Note the sarcasm.
“ No, actually I have things to do this afternoon.” I lie, the last I want is to spend more time with her.
She pouts but nods her head anyway.
She gets up and leaves me sitting on the ground.
I sigh, since when did my life get so dramatic?
Ever since Kayden came back my life has simply been chaos.
I get up from my spot I know where I wanna head to.
I begin to walk towards the pack house, I confidently stride there are some things I need to know and only Kayden has the answers I need.
Once inside I head straight for his office.
No doubt he will be there, his strong scent lingers in the hallways of the pack house and even if I don’t want to notice it I do cause of how strong his masculine scent hangs on to this place.
He completely made this place his.
I reach the closed door and I don’t waste time knocking.
I pick up some shuffling behind the door.
Before I hear Kayden’s deep voice telling me to go in me.
I open the door and the sight before me has my heart hurting.
Lexi is in Kayden’s arms and he keeps nibbling and kissing her neck.
I stand frozen, does he know I was standing there?
Is this part of his revenge?
I shake my head who am I kidding?
The world doesn’t revolve around me always and most certainly sure Kayden’s world doesn’t either.
Lexi squeals and moans softly, the sound simply pissing me off.
I decide now isn’t the best time to be here and I begin to walk away I hear Kayden’s voice stop me.
“ Lucy, what has brought you here?” His voice is husky.
To husky and sexy, I am afraid if I stay more in this room I will do something bad not only to Lexi but Kayden as well.
“ I had some questions I needed to ask.” I finally turn once more to face him.
Lexi is trying to get away from him to give us the privacy she thinks I needed with the mate that once belonged to me.
Kayden’s arms are tight around her waist restricting her from moving.
He places a sloppy kiss on her neck once more and I can’t help but shudder.
The fact that I am seeing this happen right in my eyes is torture a different kind of torture.
I play it cool and seem as though I am not affected by the scene in front of me.
‘Let me just kill her’ my wolf tells me in my mind.
‘No.’ I tell her.
My statement angers her even more.
“ You are free to ask Lucy.” He says as continues to pamper Lexi with kisses on her neck, all the time wishing I was the one sitting where she is sitting.
I look away briefly, I stare at a random bookshelf.
And a book catches my attention, it stands out from all the other books.
“ Since you seem to be busy I can come back at a different time,” I tell him.
Smooth try to be real smooth Lucy.
Kayden is about to say yes but Lexi cuts him off.
“ I have somewhere I need to be love, I will come back at a different time.”
Lexi quickly rushes out of his arms and is out of the door, leaving me alone with this devil of a man.
A part of me wants to rip him to shreds, I size him up, assess his body looking for any sign of weakness but I see none.
“ This better be very important you ruined my time with my mate.” He speaks through gritted teeth his voice coming out deeper and rougher than before.
So damn sexy.
His green eyes shine in my direction as he stares me down with an emotion I can’t quite make out.
I look away before I can get more lost in those arms.
“ I don’t care if it’s not important to you but it is to me”
He raises a single brow, I try to not squirm from the intensity of those green eyes.
“I came to ask about Stacy.”
“ What about her?”
“ I haven’t seen her since you came to take over this pack.
I was wondering if she is still alive.”
He gives me a bored look, “ I am sure she is, her weak pathetic mate ran away to save their skin after her mate lost to me.”
I sigh in relief at least he is safe.
I really miss her and wish I could see her.
She is someone I always ran to complain about my issues.
He leans onto the mahogany desk in front of me.
He looks like he would rather be anywhere but here with me having this conversation.
His contempt for me clearly shows and I wonder if he is the same man that sat next to me in the meadow last time we were alone together.
“ Would you know where she and her mate might be?”
“No!” He raises his voice his irritation clear as day.
I roll my eyes at his behavior.
He doesn’t miss the action, if anything his green eyes grows darker.
I shiver from that one look he casts my way.
“ You are lucky you ain’t my mate anymore.” He stands up, his large sexy body easily and fluidly moving around his office.
He sets himself in front of it.
He gives me this predator look that has me squirming where I stand.
He smirks at my reaction.
“ Why is that?” I ask.
He chuckles this time, his voice deep I can’t help but shift around where I am standing.
“ Or else I would have had you bent on this table.” He taps the table with his right hand and my eyes follow that simple action, “ I would have fucked you rough just to teach you that you don’t roll your eyes at an alpha like that.”
