The room is awfully quiet, you could hear a pin drop.

Kayden’s lips barely brush mine before he pulls away quickly like I some kind of plague.

My heart breaks at his reaction but I had it.

What had just happened?

Everyone stares between us wide-eyed failing to believe what happened.

I am also too stunned to believe it.

Did he just…

Lexi glares at me and I know this is the end of a friendship that never even began.

“ You know what I am glad I did that to you, you whore!” She yells so close to my face.

She fists her palms and I widen afraid she might end up hitting me.

She runs a hand through her pixel cut measung it up.

Her eyes are blazing, she gaze shifts to Kayden who looks at her with pleading eyes.

She storms out of the room and Kayden chases after her.

Aiden looks on with amusement on his face.

He is trying so hard to stifle his laughter I bet if mum was present he would have laughed at the situation.

Mum glares at me with judgeful eyes.

How do I even defend myself I don’t even what to say for the first time I am tongue-tied.

“I..I..” I begin to say, since when did I stammer?

“ Just shut up Lucy.” Mum cuts me off.

I keep quiet even if I was to say, someone what exactly can I even say?

I am blaming Kayden for all this, just what is going through his mind?

The situation is terrible but my wolf mara is jumping for joy too happy to have been kissed by our mate.

‘I am sure it was a mistake.’ I tell her.

‘No!’ she denies as if her stubborn self would ever accept.

All she wants is to win back Kayden even if I tell her he will never do that cause he hates us, her stubborn self never listens.

The doctor’s shifts are uncomfortable the tension in the room is so thick you could cut through it with a knife.

She stares at anything but me, everyone is treating me like I am the one who kissed Kayden first when he is the one.

Besides I can barely call that a kiss all his lips ever did was brushed against mine.

Nothing more nothing less but I am sure no one in here will understand that.

Later the doctor discharges me but puts me on bed rest to gain my strength.

Aiden helps to put me in a wheelchair and pushes me around the hospital with mum in toll.

“Beta Grey.”

He hums in response.

“ Do you have a mate?” I ask out of curiosity cause I have never seen her or mate her.

“ Yes, I do.” He responds as he pushes me through the busy hallway.

Mum is quietly listening not joining me or telling me to stop talking to him.

“ How come I haven’t seen her around?” I ask.

I frown as I think about it, I would very much love to meet her maybe I would get along with her.

“ oh, I even thought you already did she is usually home she isn’t the type to go out a lot.

She doesn’t even love much social interaction.”

I can’t help but deepen my frown, “but if she’s beta doesn’t that mean she needs to be social with pack members.”

“ Yeah, but my mate is more of an introvert she shows up when she needs to but she hates big gatherings and I don’t like to push her around or force her to do things she ain’t comfortable with, cause at the end of the day her happiness is everything for me.”

His words instantly melt my heart he may seem to have this very tough persona about him plus his big size adds to have terrifying he is but when it comes to his met he is very loving and soft.

I envy her a lot, I didn’t see it until now it was never about having too much power or having a mate with a high rank but someone who could love me with all his heart.

My heart breaks once more as I remember how I missed out on that cause of my foolishness.

‘ It’s all your fault.’ Mara chimes in.

I sigh the corners of my lips lifting upwards slightly.

“ She is lucky to have you as a mate,” I reply softly.

“ Too bad you haven’t found yours, Lucy,” Mum adds and my heart constricts even more.

I can tell she is mocking me but I ignore her remark.

Mum is smart too smart is you ask me she has already put the pieces together and she is just waiting for the moment will be alone to strike.

“ Am sure you mate will be lucky to have you when you find him, Lucy,” Aiden replies.

I don’t why I feel like they are silently ganging up on me.

Aiden already knows why I am not with my mate but his words only seemed to add more salt to my heart.

“ I am sure too,”

It’s dark outside when reaching there Aiden helps me to mum’s car he says goodbye to both of us and leaves.

I am seated at the back while mum is at the front.

She doesn’t lash out like I expected her to I guess this is good for now.

The engine of the Audi we are in roars to life and mum begins to drive.

The home isn’t too far away, she is quiet most of the ride as she drums her fingers in an irregular pattern on the steering wheel.

She peeps through the rare view mirror and our eyes meet.

She looks back at the road in front of her.

I begin to fiddle with my fingers her quietness is making me nervous.

I was expecting her to lash out at me but why is she suddenly quiet?

She peeps once more and like last time our eyes meet and they are back on the road.

“ Mum if you want to say something just say it.”

I am checking to see if you are doing okey back there, I was so worried you know I received a call that you were in the hospital and when I came….” Her voice cracks.

She takes a deep breath and her grip on the wheel tightens.

“ Let’s just say I am glad you are okey.” She finishes.

I am stunned for a minute.

I just nod at her it’s best not to bring up the incident in the car.

When I thought she was done she continues, “and for what happened in the hospital I know we are best friends you will tell me when you are ready and I will listen to you as long you are honest about it.”

This went better than I expected.

We reach home and Justin is already out the door to help me into the house until I reach we reach my room.

He leaves on my bed as I think about all the evens that have happened lately.

A lot is going on and now I have to deal with this disaster that Kayden has created I will be the one to suffer most cause no one will dare say anything to him cause he is Alpha well except for Lexi but for me, it’s a whole different story.

I lay in bed and try to force myself to sleep but I fail miserably as much as I try to ignore the events of the day I can’t.

Even though it was a bare touch I can still feel how it felt how my body ignited to life when he was close to me and how he smelled divine.

I could practically drown in his addictive scent and I wouldn’t mind at all.

So manly if only he was mine.

‘ you ruined our chance’ Mara remarks.

‘Yeah, I did.’ I sigh.

I don’t remember when I fell asleep but when I woke up it is already morning.

The morning sun is shining through my curtain glaring at me instantly forcing me to open my eyes.

I feel better than I was before.

I know today I will be able to move around the house with ease.

I sit on my bed with my feet touching the carpet.

I think back to yesterday, I don’t know what to expect.

The mind link is buzzing and I know people are trying to reach out to me but like always it’s closed shut the last thing I want is to hear anyone’s voice invading my mind.

I wonder if Lexi said anything to anyone or maybe it’s just them trying to check up on me.

The only people I could mindlink with are those in my pack before Kayden took over a ceremony needs to be performed to officially bind the two parks together and then we would all communicate efficiently.

Striding to the bathroom I took off all my clothes and took a nice relaxing hot shower.

After I am done with my morning business I decide to wear and simple t-shirt and shorts.

I head downstairs and only find a mum who is already having her breakfast.

“ Where is everyone else?” I ask her.

“ You know the men of this house are never really home.” She responds which is true.

“ So now that you have rested are you ready to spill?” She asks so causally as she shipped on her coffee.

She gives me a look and I know there is no escaping from this.

What scares me more is how calm she is.
