JUNE’S POV, Tristine’s eyes softened as soon as he heard me, fueling the determination burning within me.
‘Don’t let him grow suspicious of you!’ ‘Earn his trust, it’d make it easier to carry out our revenge.’ These were September’s words to me.
Since I had decided to follow September’s advice, I had to make it look as real as possible.
Tristine’s golden-rimmed eyes gradually lit up, the confusion I had seen in his eyes when he stepped into the room, gradually giving room for excitement.
His shoulders slackened as a great sense of ease settled within him.
‘September was right.
He believed me,’ I cheered inwardly, my determination growing stronger.
His love for me was indeed our blessing, and I must take advantage of it.
Tristine took my hand, covering it with his.
I would’ve recoiled at his touch if I hadn’t prepared myself for his nearness.
I’d spent the entire afternoon bracing myself for it after my conversation with September.
Good thing I had.
He slowly lifted it to his lips and pressed a kiss on it, it was both warm and intentional, but all I felt was disgust.
I managed to hold my smile, silently letting out a breath to keep my heart calm.
I kept telling myself: ‘endure it!’ ‘It’d soon be over.’ And that was what kept me still.
He didn’t let go of my hand, he held onto it like a treasure he didn’t want to lose.
Then he stared deep into my eyes.
His golden-rimmed eyes filled with passion.
“I swear to the Moon goddess…
I’ll never hurt you,” he promised, his voice laced with sincerity.
“I’m going to make sure you don’t regret giving me a chance.” ‘You’ll regret this!’ I swore within myself.
‘In two weeks’time, you’d regret being the son of that bastard.’ My chest heaved slightly as my resolve grew.
I couldn’t stand his nearness anymore.
I didn’t even answer him.
I only forced a calm smile on my face, pretending to be pleased.
“Let’s go,” I said, breaking his heated stare.
“Let’s not keep your mother waiting.” Tristine nodded.
His eyes glinting with excitement as he turned toward the door.
“Let’s go.” **** Luna Amelia’s mansion was a few feet away from Tristine’s mansion.
Although so close, I hadn’t seen her since the previous day.
From the look I saw in her eyes the previous day, I didn’t need anyone to tell me she didn’t like me.
The moment we stepped into her living room, my gaze fell on that same lady.
“Tristine,” she exclaimed, sauntering toward us with a wide grin on her face.
A quiet snort escaped me as the corners of my lips curled into a knowing smile.
I realized I had found something to hold against him, something to keep me away from him till the end of the two weeks.
“It’s so nice to see you again, Tristine,” she said brightly as she stopped in front of him.
Her eyes glinted with genuine excitement.
She wore a figure-hugging red gown with a deep V-neck that revealed her cleavage.
Tristine only stared at her briefly, and allowed his eyes to roam around the room.
“Where’s mother?” he asked, not responding to her.
The smile on her face faltered a little, but she quickly recovered herself when she noticed I was staring at her.
“She’s in the kitchen, making sure your favorite meals are ready,” she replied, keeping her empty smile plastered on her face.
Then she turned toward me.
“Oh, hey Kira, it’s nice to see you again,” she said calmly, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment.
Tristine turned toward me, but I only stared at her with my lips curled upwards.
I didn’t have to pretend to like her.
I really wanted to tell her “I can’t say same,” but I decided against it.
It was better I kept my thoughts to myself.
That way she wouldn’t know what I was thinking.
After waiting for my response in vain, she chuckled and gave way.
“Oh, silly me!” She exclaimed, stepping away from us as she realized she was blocking our path.
“Come in,” she said, gesturing inside the living room.
The living room exuded elegance and warmth.
Plush sofas and finely crafted furniture were arranged around the room, creating a cozy yet luxurious atmosphere.
A floor-to-ceiling fireplace adorned one wall, its glowing embers crackling softly.
“Alpha,” Luna Amelia called warmly as she stepped out from around the corner, a radiant smile lighting up her face.
“Welcome home, son.” Her gaze briefly shifted to me before returning to Tristine.
“Come, dinner is ready,” she said, gesturing toward the dining room.
She led the way to the dinning room just as the chefs were about to leave.
After we were settled she fixed her gaze on me.
“How does it feel to be in Red Moon Pack?” She asked firmly, masking her dislike for me with a small smile.
I shrugged.
“It’s only my second day here, but Tristine has been trying his best to make me comfortable,” I replied, holding her gaze.
Her brows furrowed.
“You mean, Alpha?” she asked arching her brows.
I didn’t answer.
My lips were curled upwards as I held her gaze.
“Oh, it’s fine mother.” It was Tristine who quickly spoke, gesturing with his hands, as he tried to quench the heat surging between his mother and me.
“I allowed her to address me by my name.” His mother’s eyes widened, and her head whipped toward him.
She looked as though she wanted to say something, but from the corner of my eye, I caught Tristine give her a subtle shake of his head, silently asking her to stay calm.
She let out a breath, and shook her head.
“Well, let’s dig in,” she said, picking up her cutlery.
The dinning table was spread with herb-roasted venison, buttered baby potatoes along with roasted vegetables and a bowl of creamy mushroom sauce, a sweet aroma wafting through the air.
Silver goblets filled with deep red wine sat beside silver plates, while a warm peach tart rested at the center of the table, waiting to be served after the meal.
The dining room was awkwardly silent, but I could perceive their hatred for me simmering beneath their calm façade.
After a while, Luna Amelia broke the silence.
“I’m sure you’ve met Princess Cassy of Purple Moon Pack,” she stated without looking up from the venison which she was cutting.
Although, she wasn’t staring at me, I knew her question was directed at me.
“Yes, I have,” I replied, turning to face Princess Cassy.
“She said we were once friends.” Princess Cassy swiftly turned toward me and I flashed a smile.
“But I don’t remember any of it since I lost my memory,” I quickly continue, noticing Luna Amelia’s curious gaze.
“Oh,” Luna Amelia nodded, then settled down her cutlery.
“Well, you’ll soon get to know each other better since she’ll be joining you soon in Alpha’s mansion as a Co-Luna.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS KingsLight26 Hey there!
