“Troops!
Follow Sesshomaru-sama and Inuyasha-sama!
Charge with me!” Seeing both generals leading from the front, Jaken refused to be left behind.
He raised the Staff of Two Heads high and charged out ahead of everyone.
Before he had taken more than a few steps, something tightened around his waist.
Familiar strands of hair silently wrapped around him and lifted him off the ground.
Cries of alarm rose behind him.
The demons who had been charging fiercely moments earlier were caught one after another by strands reaching in from every direction, binding their waists, legs, and arms.
They rose into the air like marionettes, flailing helplessly as their shouts echoed back and forth.
“All of you, shut up!” Yura’s voice pressed down from above.
The beautiful and seductive demoness hovered at the center with her arms folded.
Millions of strands spread behind her like a peacock displaying its tail.
Her short hair whipped in the gale raised by her demonic energy, while her pink eyes burned with excitement at the slaughter about to begin.
“Listen carefully!
I am Yura of the Hair, retainer to Inuyasha-sama, and from this moment forward, I command this battlefield!” Imitating Inuyasha’s arrogant tone, she let a trace of bloodthirsty excitement enter her voice and spread her slender fingers.
An enormous web of hair, visible only to Jaken, unfolded across the entire battlefield.
Her hair pulled, relayed, and repositioned.
Through countless strands formed from demonic energy, Yura’s will took control of hundreds of demons.
Standing upon a throne woven from hair, she twitched her fingertips, and the army began to move.
Unable to break free, Jaken nearly burst into tears.
“Yura-sama!
Yura-sama!” “Your humble servant is terrible at close combat!” “What a useless little yokai.” Yura pouted and granted Jaken a limited degree of freedom.
Looking down at the approaching Panther formation, she wore the same grin as Inuyasha.
“Everyone, relax.
Even if you die, I will put your remains to good use until you have been hacked into meat paste!” The demoness drew her beloved sword from her waist and raised her voice.
“Everyone, fight for the glory of the Dog Demon Tribe of the Western Lands!” ‘No!’ Their mouths sealed by hair, Royakan and the other demons could only scream inwardly through bloodshot eyes.
‘This wicked woman is terrifying!’ ‘Corpses?
Meat paste?
What the fuck am I hearing?!’ ‘Even if we can’t win, we can still run!’ ‘Sesshomaru-sama, save us!’ When the Panther army arrived, it found an allied demon army shrouded in gloom and radiating terrifying resentment.
“Meow?!” Several panthers murmured in surprise, but most dismissed the sight.
A desperate army was supposed to prevail?
Then they would slaughter every last one of them.
The Panther army expected this battle to end in victory just like the previous clashes.
Instead, the entire battlefield changed beneath Yura’s web.
The Panther vanguard charged into the formation and found no scattered rabble awaiting them.
They crashed into a perfectly sealed wall of blades.
When they tried to encircle the flank, dog demons on the left wing were pulled into their exposed side a step ahead of them.
The rear ranks prepared to unleash fire and ninja tools, only for the right-wing assault force to attack diagonally and cut their formation in half.
Encircle.
Divide.
Devour.
The allied army that had been torn apart by the panthers in several previous battles now reversed the situation and carved the Panther army into shattered fragments.
Panther commanders shouted orders from within their ranks, only to discover that the enemy reacted a step faster than every formation change they attempted.
Royakan cut off the head of a Panther captain, splattering his face with hot blood.
He grinned with savage delight as the thrill of the slaughter washed away the fear Yura had inspired moments earlier.
The demons around him had also gone berserk.
Every claw followed the pull of the hair around their waists, and every falling blade proved one undeniable fact: they were winning—overwhelmingly.
Yura’s hair suspended Jaken high above the battlefield.
Battle cries thundered below him, while hair and demonic energy danced overhead.
The position was safe and offered an excellent view.
Below, the Panther formation was torn apart and crushed layer by layer, while his own army fought with flawless coordination under the invisible web’s control.
Unable to contain himself, Jaken thrust the Staff of Two Heads high.
The old man’s head at its tip suddenly spewed a column of fire.
The flames exploded beneath the dark clouds, illuminating the minor yokai’s face as excited bubbles of snot formed beneath his nose.
“Absolute command, and the victory born from it!” Jaken screamed with all his strength.
“The one leading us to glory is Yura-sama!” The demons had become drunk on slaughter, their fighting spirit soaring.
Whenever a panther killed an allied demon, the fallen warrior continued attacking, terrifying the panthers out of their wits.
Yura stood atop her throne of hair and gave Jaken an approving glance.
She finally understood why Sesshomaru kept him around.
He had a quick tongue and knew when to make himself useful.
Perhaps he was not entirely worthless.
The demoness never stopped moving her fingers.
The Dog Demon allied army shifted with increasing speed and discipline, each rotation shaving away another layer of the Panther formation.
The Panther army’s morale sank lower with every exchange.
At some point, they realized allied soldiers surrounded them in every direction.
Fear spread through their ranks like a plague, and panthers who no longer knew front from rear began trembling, desperate to flee.
“Retreat!” No one knew who shouted first, but the Panther formation collapsed at once.
Its defeated remnants scattered in every direction like floodwater breaking through a dam.
They trampled the bodies of their comrades, abandoning banners and weapons alike.
They wanted only to escape the military net that had ground them into bloody ruin.
Then the panthers witnessed something even more horrifying than being surrounded.
The bodies of the recently fallen panthers suddenly moved—dozens of them, then hundreds.
Dead Panther soldiers rose from pools of blood like marionettes, their bleeding eye sockets, necks, limbs, and torsos wrapped in barely visible strands of hair.
Even severed limbs were dragged across the ground and reattached to their bodies.
The corpses then turned toward the comrades who had fought beside them moments earlier.
“N-no!” The surviving panthers broke completely at the sight of those mangled faces.
Some fled screaming in the opposite direction, while others collapsed and could no longer grip their weapons.
Jaken watched the Panther army disintegrate below as corpses controlled by hair turned and hunted the living panthers.
Chills repeatedly raced down his spine.
He swallowed and looked back at the woman seated upon her throne of hair, all ten fingers dancing through the air.
Only one thought remained in his mind.
‘I can never offend her.
Never.’ Yura stopped paying attention to the victory already decided below.
Her gaze crossed the mountains of corpses and seas of blood toward Inuyasha’s battlefield, where the situation was naturally just as favorable.
