The battle had reversed in an instant, yet Toran had no way to respond.
Her ice-blue cat eyes glared at Inuyasha as he casually swung Shunran back and forth by the throat.
“You are utterly shameless!” “Put Shunran down, puppy!
If you have any skill, fight me for three hundred rounds!” “Come on.
You are the leader of the Panther Devas and a Great Demon in your own right.
Are you trying to make me laugh with that nonsense?” Inuyasha dug his free pinkie into one ear and raised an eyebrow at the Panther elder sister, who was speaking without thinking in her rage.
“Your tribe started this conflict.
Your tribe also launched the surprise attack on our homeland.” “So you are allowed to do whatever you please, but the Dog Demon Tribe cannot exploit your weaknesses?” As he spoke, the silver-haired half-demon deliberately lifted Shunran closer to himself.
His nostrils flared as he breathed in the petite maiden’s fresh sweetness and the scent of fear she released now that her life was no longer her own.
A satisfied expression crossed his face as he taunted Toran.
“Not convinced?
Then come over here and hit me!” “You bastard half-demon!” Toran trembled with rage, and even the ice arrows condensed around her shook with her.
She wanted to shoot Inuyasha dead, but with Shunran in his grasp, she could not bring herself to attack.
She wanted even more desperately to refute him, yet she could find neither the grounds nor the words.
Left with no answer, Toran turned toward Sesshomaru and roared.
“Sesshomaru, look at what your clansman is doing!
He is utterly shameless!” “Are you going to ignore an act that disgraces your tribe’s honor?” “Are you even capable of stopping him?!” “!” Sesshomaru had privately found Inuyasha’s methods improper but deeply satisfying.
That final insult still left him stunned.
He watched the incoming rain of ice arrows and laughed in fury.
“The true joke is that I have wasted this much time fighting trash like you!” His giant canine body rapidly contracted.
With a flash of silver light, he returned to his humanoid form, his sleeves snapping in the demonic wind while the fluffy pelt at his shoulder streamed behind him.
Sesshomaru flicked his right hand.
An emerald light whip shot through the air like a swimming dragon and swept across the overwhelming rain of ice arrows.
Every arrow in its path shattered.
Without slowing, the whip continued straight toward Toran’s face.
Toran formed an ice shield to block it, but the demonic energy within the strike left her hand numb.
Sesshomaru closed the distance, his golden eyes cold as frost.
His Poison Claws glowed a dark green as they reached for Toran’s throat.
“Your weakness is your own fault!” His claws missed, so he reversed his hand and lashed out again, forcing Toran into a frantic retreat.
“All of you will die here today!” Toran’s face turned ashen, fury and caution mingling in her ice-blue eyes.
She swept both arms repeatedly, producing an endless series of ice walls, lances, and spikes in an attempt to create distance.
Sesshomaru followed like her shadow.
Whip and claws alternated in a relentless assault, denying her even a moment to breathe.
However, this gave Karan room to move.
She hurried to the unconscious Shuran, whom Sesshomaru had left gravely injured.
Flames erupted around Karan with a roar, and the scorching wave of heat vaporized the scattered ice into white mist.
Firelight left her wild face half illuminated and half in shadow.
Her eyes remained locked on Inuyasha, filled with vigilance and hatred.
“I truly do not understand.” Inuyasha casually tossed the helpless Shunran onto the ground, loosened his shoulders, and walked unhurriedly toward Karan.
“You started this war and invaded our territory, so why are you acting like the victims while making me look like the villain?” “How does that make any sense?” As a warrior, Karan ignored Inuyasha’s rambling and opened her mouth wide.
Several blazing crimson fireballs surged toward him through waves of scorching heat.
Inuyasha did not dodge.
The next instant, he extended his right palm, and flames as red as blood erupted around it.
The Robe of Kagutsuchi possessed two forms.
The stronger his protective resolve, the calmer the flames became, taking on an azure color.
The stronger his destructive urge, the fiercer they became, turning crimson.
At that moment, anger rose inside Inuyasha.
‘Only I’m allowed to be a hypocritical dog.
No one else is!’ He brought his palm down.
The instant the fireballs touched his crimson palm, they shattered into sparks and vanished into the air.
Inuyasha stepped through the embers with his crimson-wreathed right hand hanging at his side.
He looked like a Great Demon King walking out of purgatory as he steadily approached Karan.
Karan’s pupils contracted into pinpricks.
The instinctive terror of encountering a natural enemy erupted inside her, driving her into a frantic counterattack.
She spat out several more fireballs, their long tails blazing as they raced toward Inuyasha.
When he drew close, white-hot flames engulfed both her fists, and a storm of punches poured toward him.
A ring of searing fire exploded around her.
Smoke bombs and shuriken followed in a flashy barrage, making her look like a ninja cat.
Inuyasha never even slowed.
He casually swept his crimson-wreathed hand, smashing fireballs, brushing aside fists, and walking straight through the ring of fire as though strolling through a garden.
Flames hot enough to melt metal became as obedient as a tide greeting its master, automatically parting before him.
One step.
Two steps.
Three.
His crimson palm pierced the final curtain of fire and smoke.
Five hooked fingers closed around Karan’s slender throat, just as they had around Shunran’s.
Seized by the scruff of fate, Karan’s flames went out at once.
Inuyasha lifted her from the ground, and the cat tail at the base of her spine shot upright in panic.
Inuyasha tilted his head, smiling at the fear and resentment reflected on her face.
“Honestly, I feel a certain kinship with you.
I am rather fond of fire myself.” The crimson flames in his palm turned azure before surging into her.
Karan’s pupils contracted.
Her mind and body burned as her mouth fell open, drool spilling free while a drawn-out “Oooooh…” escaped her lips.
She soon lost consciousness completely.
Inuyasha casually tossed her on top of Shunran, leaving the two sisters lying together.
Shunran looked at Karan’s miserable state, hatred and fear of the silver-haired half-demon twisting together inside her.
Inuyasha turned and sat cross-legged atop Shuran’s still-rising belly without the slightest concern.
He raised his head and shouted toward Toran, who was still battling Sesshomaru.
“Toran—!” “Your siblings have all been defeated, and your army is nearly wiped out.
Do you still want to fight?” “If you continue, I will twist Shuran’s head off.
Shunran and Karan can serve as compensation for the Dog Demon Tribe’s losses—and as growth resources for me.” His voice carried demonic energy and rolled like thunder, overwhelming the noise of the battle.
Toran stopped abruptly and stared down at Inuyasha sitting with the composure of a victor, helpless fury nearly destroying her mind.
Then her gaze touched her defeated siblings.
Grief and desolation poured over her like cold water, forcibly dragging her reason back.
“You dare lose focus while fighting me!” Sesshomaru had naturally remained aware of everything happening on Inuyasha’s side.
He was close to defeating Toran, yet she suddenly began acting as if the entire battle had already ended.
Irritation immediately surged within him.
‘What the hell is this?!’ From beginning to end, Sesshomaru had felt almost irrelevant.
Inuyasha had controlled the rhythm of the entire battle, as though declaring Sesshomaru inferior to his half-demon younger brother.
How could he possibly accept that?
Yet his pride made it difficult to attack an opponent who had lost all will to fight.
All the force surging through him had nowhere to go.
“Sesshomaru-sama!” Jaken’s voice called from the distance.
