Thanks to Yura’s precise control, the allied army won a crushing victory and finally washed away the shame of its earlier defeats.
After happily playing a round of “barbecue the panthers,” Jaken could hardly wait to share the victory with Sesshomaru-sama.
Unfortunately, with his short legs, reaching the other battlefield would take half the day.
The little demon turned toward the demoness sorting through the spoils.
Yura had gathered plenty of hair from foes too weak to escape her threads, even though she had mowed them down faster than a warrior in Dynasty Warriors.
Yet compared with Inuyasha’s silver hair, these strands were hideous.
They were merely disposable materials, not worthy of joining her collection.
Her true treasures were tied around her comb and kept with it inside her chest.
That way, both her body and heart could feel Master Inuyasha’s bonds every moment of the day.
Noticing Jaken’s hesitant stare, she spoke without looking up.
“If you have something to say, spit it out, you bald little demon.” As a comb spirit, Yura instinctively disliked bald creatures.
It did not help that Jaken’s greatest talent was breathing fire.
Had he not proven so attentive and surprisingly pleasant to have around during their journey west, she would never have bothered with him.
‘I’m at her mercy.
I have to endure!’ Jaken’s mouth twitched as he kept his head lowered.
When he looked up, however, his face bore an eager, fawning smile.
“Yura-sama, could you take me to Sesshomaru-sama’s battlefield?
News of our great victory will crush the Panther Devas’ resolve.
We might even rout them in one stroke!” The Panther Tribe’s advantages were its numbers and coordination.
Now that its main army had been destroyed, the Panther Devas had been left without support.
Sesshomaru’s odds of victory would surely soar.
His master would never say it aloud, but Jaken knew Sesshomaru would be delighted.
Such perfect understanding was proof of the bond between master and servant!
“With Inuyasha-sama there, those panthers may already be dead cats.” Yura gave a bored yawn.
“Still, I suppose we can go.” She had no interest in cleaning up the battlefield.
With a flick of her finger, her hair wove itself into a flying net, scooped up the delighted Jaken, and carried them into the sky toward Sesshomaru.
The net glided beneath the demonic clouds.
Lying against its woven floor, Jaken genuinely wondered how Yura’s hair could spread everywhere.
It made sense in a forest, but there was nothing in the sky for it to anchor to.
The question soon vanished from his mind, and he began shouting at the top of his lungs.
“Yura-sama is mighty!
Yura-sama is the best!” Yura’s eyes curved with pleasure as she cast him an approving glance.
Jaken seized the opening and poured out an endless stream of flattery.
The pleasant journey did not last long.
Soon, the two brothers came into view, and the one-sided state of the battle made the victor obvious at a glance.
Jaken leaned halfway out of the net and waved toward the nobleman in moon-white robes.
“Sesshomaru-sama!” But Sesshomaru’s sudden icy glare made him swallow the word “invincible” before it left his mouth.
Sesshomaru glanced at Inuyasha, snorted, and turned to leave.
Jaken had no idea what had angered his master, but he did not dare make another sound.
“Perfect timing, Yura.” Inuyasha beckoned.
Yura landed beside him and waited for his orders.
“Tie up these three kittens.
If that ice cat refuses to behave, cut off their limbs, gouge out their eyes, and slice out their tongues.
Just don’t kill them.” Jaken shuddered at how casually the silver-haired half-demon delivered that horrifying order.
Shunran fainted on the spot, while Toran’s brow twitched when Yura cheerfully replied, “Yes.” “You shameless puppy!
My name is Toran, not ‘ice cat’!” Toran glared at Inuyasha.
The next instant, she sensed something sharp slicing through the air at incredible speed.
Her three siblings were hoisted into the air before her eyes.
‘What kind of power is this?’ Too much had happened today, leaving Toran drained in both body and mind.
She deeply regretted starting this conflict before reviving their lord.
‘Once Panther King-sama is revived, I’ll make these puppies repay everything we lost today ten times over!’ “You called me a puppy during the battle, so I let it slide.” Inuyasha lifted his chin.
Yura instantly understood the pose he wanted her to strike and snapped her fingers.
Snap!
Fine red lines appeared across all four limbs of each captive, so even they looked as though they had been measured with a ruler.
Blood seeped from the cuts and ran through their fur as the unconscious panthers groaned weakly.
“Wait!” Toran’s shout tore from her throat.
Her ice-blue eyes were bloodshot as she stared at Inuyasha, chest heaving and teeth grinding together.
Inuyasha tilted his head and gave her a teasing smile.
“Miss Ice Cat, what should you call me now?” Silence stretched for several breaths.
Toran closed her eyes, chest rising and falling.
When she opened them again, she had forced down the rage in her eyes, leaving only humiliation, restraint, and a barely visible plea.
“Inuyasha-sama…” “Hah!
Look, Yura.
Even this proud and unruly ice cat knows how to bow her head.” “That only proves how well Inuyasha-sama trained her.
Kittens should know how to behave.” Their mockery flushed the proud Toran’s face red.
Her fists clenched behind her back until her nails pierced her palms.
“Inuyasha-sama, if it is within the Panther Tribe’s power, please give your order.
I only want my brother and sisters to be safe.” The eldest panther’s voice had lost all its pride, leaving it low and hoarse.
“Simple.” Inuyasha folded his arms and studied Toran’s Vegeta-like hair.
“Lead the Panther Tribe in swearing loyalty to me.
I’ll take all of you to see a world far greater and wider than anything you’ve ever imagined.” Toran scoffed inwardly at such an absurd demand.
Jaken, who had been about to leave in search of Sesshomaru, could not stop himself from speaking.
“Inuyasha-sama, the Panther Tribe is our mortal enemy.
We cannot trust them.
Killing them would be the safest choice.” Both tribes had stained their hands with the other’s blood.
The hatred between them could never be erased with a few words, much less in a day.
Toran remained silent, tacitly accepting Jaken’s sober advice as she prepared to fight to the death.
If her siblings died here, she would have no face to return home alive.
Inuyasha waved a dismissive hand.
“They’re only mortal enemies.
My charm is unmatched!” “Exactly.
Inuyasha-sama’s charm has no equal,” Yura declared.
“Even if he slaughtered a kitten’s entire family, she would realize it was all her fault and weep bitterly as she repented.” Her praise made Jaken realize that his own gift for flattery was still sorely lacking.
His devotion to Sesshomaru-sama was nowhere near good enough!
Meanwhile, the chill pouring from Toran grew ever colder.
