As night fell, the building began to shake.

The first impact hit the load-bearing wall, causing the entire floor of glass to shatter with a loud bang.

Lu Chen grabbed the window frame and looked inside – the fireproof door of the first floor hall had been pushed out at an angle, and the iron sheet was dented like it had been hammered.Full novel: Apocalypse Enhancement — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The second impact.

“Bang.” The door lock flew off.

Three tyrants entered.

They were one head taller than the walkers, their shoulders touching the door lintel, their backs covered in dark, hard scales.

They didn’t look where they were going and crashed straight into the wall, creating a path.

“Upstairs.” Lu Chen pushed Su Wan into the corridor.

The top floor was an abandoned meeting room, with half of the floor-to-ceiling windows broken.

They pushed the last iron table against the stairwell entrance and retreated to the window.

The tyrants came up.

The stairs were narrow, only wide enough for one to enter.

The first one pushed aside the iron table, half of its body peering in.

Lu Chen went forward, clamped his hands around its neck, and threw it into the stairwell.

It was stuck on the second floor, its four arms frantically scratching.

Lu Chen went down again, pressed its back of the neck, and knocked against the right angle of the platform.

Once, twice, by the third strike, the neck bone cracked.

His hands were shaking.

Not out of fear, but from exhaustion.

For the first time in two days, he felt that his strength was “used up”.

The second one stepped on the third one’s shoulders and climbed up.

Lu Chen didn’t retreat, facing it.

The claw wind brushed against his side, and his clothes were immediately soaked with blood.

He didn’t dodge – there was no escape route behind him.

“Su Wan, be careful.” He gasped.

“I can hold out.”

As they climbed higher, he didn’t even know what he was relying on.

The second one was broken in the neck by him, and the third one hit his back against the window frame, with glass fragments piercing his shoulder.

His limit was reached tonight.

Su Wan pushed him against the window, just about to bandage him, when her hand suddenly stopped.

Downstairs, the zombie swarm was still pouring in.

But the direction was wrong – they weren’t coming towards the building, but heading towards the opposite street, like a tide avoiding a rock.

She looked in that direction.

In the shadow of the opposite street, a figure stood.

Very tall.

It didn’t seem like a living thing at all.

Fog surrounded it, and it remained motionless, only looking up, towards this building – towards them.

The lights in the building were off, but that thing was clearly looking.

Su Wan picked up the gun.

Her hand trembled, and the sight picture wouldn’t stay still.

“Don’t shoot.” Lu Chen whispered.

“What is that?”
