How did her daughter, who usually loved to laze around like a salted fish, suddenly know how to do all this?

It felt so miraculous.

Xie Ning turned to look at her utterly bewildered mother. “The teacher taught it at school.”Full novel: Apocalypse: Escape from Day One — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The teacher taught this??

“Where did you get these oil storage barrels?”

Xie Ning was also puzzled. These supplies she had collected in her previous life had never been seen in the villa, so how had she managed to pull them out?

After a moment’s thought, she focused her mind slightly.

What appeared before Xie Ning now was no longer the living room of her family’s villa, but the two-square-meter Small Space she knew all too well from her past life.

She was intimately familiar with the use of every single item in that Small Space.

Though small, many of the tools inside were extremely useful, including these two oil storage barrels and the small manual oil pump.

That tiny storage space was filled with memories belonging to Xie Ning.

The large axe she had used to hack zombies, its blade nearly curled from wear, now rested quietly beside the toolbox.

Xie Ning couldn’t bear to throw it away. Even though the handy long sword she now wielded was millions of times better in sharpness and attack speed than the big chopping axe, she still couldn’t bring herself to discard it.

“Ningning?”

Xie Ning focused her mind again, and the living room of the large villa reappeared before her.

This was actually quite good, Xie Ning thought. So her two-square-meter, rather useless Small Space hadn’t disappeared; she could summon it anytime.

So now, she had two spaces—one large and one small.

Though it was strange, it was ultimately a good thing.

After all, she still had many highly practical tools stored in that small space from before, along with hand-drawn maps made while navigating the apocalypse. Losing those would have been a real shame.

“It’s nothing, Mom. Actually, these oil barrels and pumping tools came as a bonus when I gained the Spatial Ability.”

“The Small Space even comes with professional tools?” Song You’ai asked, full of curiosity. “That’s a pretty nice perk from the Spatial Ability.”

Xie Ning gave an awkward laugh. “Let’s keep this between us, heaven, earth, you, and me.”

Song You’ai quickly nodded, making a zipping motion over her mouth. “Don’t worry, dear. Mom won’t say a word.”

The two finished pumping the two barrels of oil, packed up the tools properly, and hurried out of the gas station together.

Looking up, they happened to see a young man and woman, both looking panicked, rushing out of the convenience store across the street.

Each was clutching a messy pile of food, dropping items constantly as they ran, while hoarse roars echoed from behind them.

“Mom, let’s go, go, go.” Xie Ning grabbed Song You’ai’s hand and turned to run.

The glass door of the convenience store suddenly shattered. A clumsy zombie, its head covered in glass shards, burst out of the building, swayed in a circle, and then shambled in the direction of the screaming couple.

“Go away, go away!” the woman shrieked, hurling snack bags from her arms at the zombie behind her.

In her blind panic, she ran headfirst into a tree, crying out in pain.

Her screams seemed to give the zombies a signal, luring them to sway toward her.

The woman’s legs went weak with fear. She looked pleadingly at the man who had run ahead by over ten meters. “Save me. Zhang Yang, save me!”

Zhang Yang, clutching his pile of stuff, glanced back at the woman, swallowed hard, and hesitated over whether to turn back and pull her along.

Just then, a motorhome, swerving erratically, came roaring toward them in a reckless charge.

Xie Ning cursed inwardly at the idiocy and pulled her mother aside to dodge.

The RV, like a drunkard, swerved erratically past them and crashed headlong into the convenience store with a deafening crash.
