A few minutes later, two jeeps, six buses, and one military truck arrived at the entrance of the small convenience store at the gas station.
The vehicles stopped at the store’s entrance. Over a hundred soldiers carrying automatic rifles from the military truck were the first to jump down in unison.
They unleashed a round of silent, rapid fire at the horde of over a hundred zombies near the van.
In less than three minutes, all the zombies had been shot in the head and collapsed to the ground.
Revealing a man and a woman on the roof of the van, their faces deathly pale as they stared at the crowd.
“Ah, ahhh!” Shi Ailing, seeing the zombies whose heads had suddenly exploded with blood splattering everywhere, let out an extremely sharp, piercing scream.
Unable to bear it any longer, Zhang Yang turned around, swung his arm, and slapped the woman across the face. “Stop screaming! Enough!”
Each bus was packed with at least fifty or sixty people. At a time like this, there was naturally no talk of overloading or not—the higher-ups’ orders were to take as many as possible and evacuate them to the Safe Zone.
At this moment, everyone crowded by the windows on one side, watching the man and woman on the van point fingers at each other and argue.
The baby-faced man jumped down from the jeep, waved toward the van, and said with clear impatience, “Hey, hey, you two. Sir? Ma’am? Stop making noise or you’ll attract more zombies. We have very limited ammunition.”
“Stop screaming!” Zhang Yang yanked Shi Ailing hard and hurriedly slid down from the roof of the van.
After sliding down, Shi Ailing stepped on the piled-up corpses of zombies, which made her so disgusted she retched repeatedly.
“Listen up, everyone on the buses. Each family send one representative down to get supplies from the convenience store. We assemble in twenty minutes. Do not be late, because the vehicles won’t wait for stragglers.” The baby-faced man controlled his volume, speaking with a serious expression.
Then, the doors of all six buses opened. Almost every family sent a man, who rushed toward the entrance of the convenience store.
“Bro, bro, did I say that right?” The baby-faced man leaned close to the jeep window, blinked his puppy-dog eyes, and put on a fawning expression.
A slender, well-proportioned hand reached out from inside the vehicle and lightly patted his head. “Go check what happened with those two bodies over there.”
“Got it.” The baby-faced man turned around, waved, and led two armed soldiers to quickly walk to one side of the convenience store. They crouched down to examine the two zombies.
Soon, the baby-faced man scurried back to his brother’s side with quick, small steps. “Bro, bro, isn’t it a coincidence? Those two zombies were killed by the Sky Blade. The wounds are just this thin.”
“Ah, it was so fast, ruthless, and precise, tsk tsk. Bro, I’m one hundred percent sure it’s that young lady we saw before! After all, you personally gave her the Sky Blade. In this world, aside from the Sky Blade, no other weapon could create such an exquisitely beautiful, unparalleled wound.”
“You really love to blabber.” A handsome face leaned out from another jeep nearby.
The man pushed the gold-rimmed glasses on his face and rolled his eyes in annoyance. “The boss sent you to check because he already had a hunch. You blabbered on and on—aren’t you tired?”
“Are you tired, are you tired, is your whole family tired?” The baby-faced man glared at the gold-rimmed glasses man. “I’m talking to my brother, you sarcastic jerk. Don’t interrupt.”
“Boss! The refueling port at the back has already been opened.” A muscular, middle-aged man strode over, pointing toward the rear of the gas station.
“Alright, try to gather as much as possible. It’s still a long way to the Safe Zone.”
“Also,” the man paused, “send someone in to keep an eye on them.”
