Torrential rain poured down, fiercely washing over the ground.

“Bro, bro, look over there—someone’s actually daring to come to the neighborhood at a time like this?” A baby-faced man pressed against the window, watching outside with great interest.

This girl sure has guts! All alone and by herself—what does she plan to do?

The car window rolled halfway down, and misty rain drifted inside.

The man stretched out a slender finger to test the rain. “It’s lighter now. Get out.”

Lighter?

“Get out? Why? Shouldn’t we wait for Team A to bring them out before we go down, bro?”

Otherwise, in this storm, my hairstyle will get all messed up!

“Get out and help that girl. Do you really have the nerve to just stand here and watch?” The man reached over, opened the car door on his side, and with a long leg, kicked him right out.

So heartless and cold!

The baby-faced man nearly burst into tears. The storm pouring down on him almost drenched him senseless.

He had spent over an hour styling his hair!

Under the relentless rain, it was now completely disheveled in the wind…

And this is what his brother called “lighter rain”?

Pulling the gun tucked at his waist, he trudged forward with a tearful, baby-faced expression. From a distance, he saw several middle-aged zombies being cut down by the girl as if she were chopping vegetables.

Huh? Seems like she doesn’t need any help at all?

“This little lady is pretty impressive.”

The baby-faced man turned around and saw his cold, heartless brother had also gotten out of the car.

The man held a black umbrella, standing tall and straight beside the vehicle.

Through the misty rain, his brother appeared hazy and indistinct, like a pine tree or a piece of jade.

No wonder so many girls in the capital were drawn to him like moths to a flame—with that figure and face, following him was definitely worth it.

“What are you thinking with that silly look on your face? Go help.”

“Help with what? That little lady is heroic and moves with such agility—she doesn’t need my help at all.” The baby-faced man muttered under his breath, but his feet still carried him toward the girl.

Xie Ning finished off a zombie and turned around, shaking her dizzy head.

“Hey!” A seemingly harmless baby face suddenly appeared before her eyes.

Almost reflexively, Xie Ning raised her axe and swung it down.

The baby-faced man quickly tucked his gun back into his waist, waving his hands frantically. “No, no, no! Little lady, open your eyes and look carefully! I’m not a zombie—I’m human! I’m human!”

Xie Ning’s hand paused mid-air as she let out a heavy breath.

“Little lady, this neighborhood is full of zombies. What are you doing here? Do you live here?”

Xie Ning ignored him, wiped her face, and ran straight into the neighborhood.

“Kid, use this. It’s handier than your axe.” Suddenly, a long blade was handed to her.

Xie Ning took it without thinking and looked up, her vision blurry.

Through the rain, all she could make out in her hazy sight were the man’s smiling peach-blossom eyes.

Something’s wrong. Her body felt as if it were being consumed by raging flames, the burning sensation utterly distressing.

Her body temperature was probably far from normal right now.

She had to find her sister quickly—before she passed out.

“Hey, kid, in your condition, you should find a place to finish your Awakening first before—”

“Thanks.” Xie Ning shook the long blade in her hand and dashed into the neighborhood.

About five fingers wide and several feet long, it resembled a sword but wasn’t quite a blade.

The pitch-black surface seemed unremarkable, but it sliced through rotting corpses with exceptional sharpness.

Xie Ning casually took down a rotting corpse and strode briskly toward the residential building.
