“He Zhi.” Xie Ning turned around just in time to see a rotting corpse lunging toward her.
Before she could scream in terror, Xie Ning swiftly ran up to her and swung an axe at the back of the rotting corpse’s head.
The strike was fast, fierce, and precise, instantly knocking the rotting corpse to the ground.
He Zhi could only hear the frantic pounding of her own heart in her chest, as if it were about to leap out.
“Where did you get that axe?” He Zhi asked, following closely behind Xie Ning with a look of astonishment.
Seeing that Xie Ning paid no attention, He Zhi continued, “The broadcast just announced that all surviving students and teachers should gather at the main cafeteria.”
“Let’s go to the cafeteria across the way,” He Zhi said, grabbing Xie Ning’s arm.
Xie Ning shook her feverish, dizzy head. “He Zhi, since you helped me earlier, I’ll give you a piece of advice. Leave if you can. Don’t stay on campus.”
“The zombies in the early stages aren’t scary. They’re slow. As long as you run fast enough, they won’t be able to touch a hair on you.”
“Take this chance to get out. The best thing to do is to leave densely populated areas as soon as possible.”
He Zhi was taken aback and tried to grab her hand again. “Xie Ning, aren’t you coming with us?”
Xie Ning pulled her hand back and took a few steps away, shaking her groggy head. “You still dare to go with me? Aren’t you afraid I’ll start biting people like those other students after the fever passes?”
“Maybe I’m not undergoing an ability awakening after all.”
He Zhi was successfully frightened, and the other girls with her stopped in their tracks, staring at Xie Ning with terror.
Xie Ning said nothing more and turned to rush downstairs.
Although her vision was blurry, her heavy head remained relatively clear.
She knew she wouldn’t turn into a zombie. This was indeed a sign of her supernatural ability awakening.
But this time, the Awakening seemed to be taking longer than expected. Why was she still burning up?
Though she didn’t understand how she had returned, the most important task awaited her now.
She had to rush to Ruihua Residential Area to save someone, immediately!
The corridor floor and glass windows were splattered with dark red bloodstains and scattered bits of internal organs, dripping down the panes.
Xie Ning rushed downstairs, ignoring it all.
Following her memory, she ran toward the parking lot, using the fire axe to dispatch several swaying rotting corpses along the way.
Soon, she found a seven-seater van.
She quickly eliminated the zombie in the driver’s seat and sped toward Ruihua Residential Area.
The van ran over several zombies, bumping and jolting its way to the East University gate.
The scene at the gate was a cacophony of cries, screams, and the sounds of tearing and biting, mixed with the thick scent of blood—a living hell.
With her dizzy head, Xie Ning couldn’t help but glance back.
Hundreds of people were gathered at the gate, running, crawling, falling, and fighting.
The once-peaceful East University had now become a playground for zombies in this apocalyptic frenzy.
Xie Ning closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and slammed her foot on the accelerator, driving straight out of the school.
The road was difficult to navigate. The trip to Ruihua Residential Area, which should have taken only twenty minutes, required several detours due to cars blocking the way in all directions.
Forty minutes later, when she arrived at Ruihua Residential Area, Xie Ning’s head felt even more unbearably heavy.
She began to sense that something was wrong.
According to her previous life’s experience, she should have completed her ability awakening by now and no longer felt this dizziness.
Xie Ning got out of the car, swung his axe and cut down two rotting corpses that lunged at him, his grip on the axe tightening slightly.
