Мu Shеngzhоu slоwly oреnеd his еyes. Рerhаps due tо exсessive сonsumption оf his Sреciаl Аbility, his eyеs werе fillеd with red veins.

“Сheck уour еquiрmеnt. In five minutеs, we breаk through!” Mu Shеngzhоu’s vоice was heavy.

Even thоugh hе was ninety pеrсent certаin thе girl was fishing for them.

He couldn’t gamble the lives of so many brothers under his command on the ten percent chance that something unexpected wouldn’t happen.

All the members of the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps in the room had already stood up, conducting a final check of their weapons and equipment, waiting only for Mu Shengzhou’s order to immediately begin their breakout.

Mu Shengzhou also rose from his resting position against the wall, standing straight and tall.

Just as his order to “break through” was about to leave his lips, Shen Feng’s startled voice abruptly rang out: “She’s coming out!

She’s walking toward us!”

Mu Shengzhou and Jiang Ci turned their heads simultaneously, following Shen Feng’s line of sight. They saw the familiar shit-green figure approaching them at a steady, unhurried pace.

“Boss, should we wait?” Jiang Ci asked uncertainly.

A trace of struggle flickered across Mu Shengzhou’s expression.

At that moment, Yu Chao, who had remained silent until now, spoke up: “I suggest we wait.

In our current state, breaking through would inevitably result in heavy casualties.

Originally, without any other options, we would have to break through even at the cost of heavy losses.

But now, that girl clearly has a method to move through the zombie horde without being attacked.

It would be best if we could exchange some reward for her method when she arrives.

At the very least, we could use force or other means to extract her method from her.”

In this post-apocalyptic Wasteland, purely good people were almost non-existent.

When life was threatened, one’s bottom line would be repeatedly lowered.

Yu Chao’s suggestion was met with agreement from most.

All eyes fell on Mu Shengzhou.

“Boss, we’ll follow your lead. Whether it’s breaking through or waiting for the girl to negotiate or interrogate her, we’ll do as you say!” At this moment, Shen Feng’s gaze was resolute.

Mu Shengzhou’s eyes rested on Shen Feng before sweeping over everyone present.

These people were his trusted confidants, the trump cards he relied on to take a desperate gamble and completely control the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps.

Yu Chao was right about one thing: with so many zombies besieging them outside, breaking through would inevitably lead to heavy losses—it was the worst option.

Since there was another choice… he would take the gamble!

“Alright, we’ll wait for her to come over,” Mu Shengzhou declared in a low voice, making the final decision.

At the same time, he deployed a series of contingency arrangements.

He was ninety percent certain the girl was targeting the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps.

But to guard against that ten percent chance of the unexpected, necessary deterrence was still required.

Since the girl dared to treat his Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps as fish to be hooked, she should be prepared to face his retaliation.

He wondered if the girl had any other trump cards up her sleeve.

Only when both sides were evenly matched was there a need for negotiation and strategy.

If the girl had no other cards to play yet still dared to string them along like this, then he would have to make her truly understand the dangers of the world.

He had never been a good person, after all.

…

Mo Qianqian glanced at the Multifunctional Wristwatch on her wrist. She spent an hour and a half crafting three explosive arrows and three armor-piercing arrows.

The Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps had been left waiting for an hour and a half, and she figured it was about time.

She stood up and walked out of the building, no longer deliberately stalling, heading straight toward the direction from which the SOS light signal had been emitted earlier.

A distance of one kilometer wasn’t too far.

Along the way, she avoided provoking any zombies. When she spotted individuals that appeared to be higher-level zombies, she deliberately kept her distance to prevent attracting the attention of Fourth Tier or higher-tier zombies, as had happened before.

It wasn’t out of fear, but she was running low on crossbow bolts.

She was also a bit worried that the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps might not hold out much longer.

For the partner she had chosen, it was enough to let them stew and temper their arrogance. If she actually let them die, she’d have to go through the trouble of finding another.

What a hassle.

Eight minutes later, she had reached the vicinity of the building from which the light signal had been emitted.

The zombies here had clearly been cleared out.

Noticing that the zombie horde in the distance showed no tendency to gather in this direction, she guessed that there was a Superpowered Individual within the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps who could mask the scent of living humans.

However, the fact that the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps hadn’t used this individual’s Special Ability to escape the zombie horde suggested that the ability had limitations.

It wasn’t as convenient as the Corpse Grass juice she had smeared on herself.

Mo Qianqian looked up at the dilapidated yet stubbornly standing apartment building before her.

By her estimate, the building had over ten floors.

Frowning, she recalled the position from which the light signal had been emitted earlier—likely the third or fourth floor.

Before stepping into the building, she made some preparations.

She loaded three explosive arrows into the firing slot of her hand crossbow.

A direct confrontation with the survivors of the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps was out of the question—taking on multiple opponents alone was far from a rational choice.

A hand crossbow wasn’t a grenade launcher; it couldn’t blast a group of people to pieces.

But negotiations required strategy. Sometimes, showing a hint of one’s capabilities at the right moment could secure a better deal.

Even if the talks broke down and she had to strike unexpectedly, it would absolutely be done discreetly.

Honor and openness? Nonexistent.

With everything prepared, she was about to head upstairs when several figures suddenly emerged from different positions, surrounding her.

These individuals wore matching camouflage combat uniforms, with a prominent skull and sickle emblem on their sleeves.

They were survivors of the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps.

Likely wary of her hand crossbow, the tall man leading them aimed a long-range weapon at her.

It was an Energy Gun, its design completely different from modern firearms.

Mo Qianqian showed no trace of fear on her face. Instead, she smiled innocently and harmlessly. “What are you all doing, big brothers?

I saw your distress signal and came all this way to rescue you. Why are you pointing guns at me now?”

“Don’t play dumb with me, girl,” Shen Feng replied with a smirk, still holding his gun, his expression roguish. “My boss said if you were genuinely here to rescue us, you’d have come as soon as you saw the light signal.

Showing up only now means you were just stringing us along like fish on a hook.”

As soon as Shen Feng spoke, Mo Qianqian recognized him—he was the man who had silenced Ji Yunting at the outermost edge of the Urban Ruins earlier.

Hearing him accuse her of stringing them along like fish on a hook, Mo Qianqian couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.

Her exceptionally clear laughter stood in stark contrast to the desolation and decay around her, as well as the scattered zombie corpses littering the ground.Shen Feng and the few men surrounding Mo Qianqian kept their expressions neutral, but in truth, they had recognized from the moment she spoke that this was a very young woman—or rather, a young girl.

For so many men to gang up on a single woman was, in truth, rather unsavory.

Yet this young girl indeed possessed some abilities that made them wary.

“Oh? So how did your boss tell you to deal with me?” Mo Qianqian wore a faint smile as she calmly and composedly inquired.
