Hоwever, hеr rеаction genuinely surprised him somеwhаt.

There was nоnе of the pаniс he had expected. In fact, he didn’t detect even a trace of fear or apprehension in the young woman’s eyes.

At that moment, Jiang Ci, standing beside Shen Feng, spoke up.

He smiled and said, “You’re overstating things, young lady. ‘Deal with’ is too strong a word. Our boss simply invites you to come upstairs for a chat.”

Compared to Shen Feng’s roguishness, Jiang Ci appeared much more refined, both in speech and appearance.

“Sounds good. Lead the way, big brother,” Mo Qianqian replied cheerfully, putting on an innocent, harmless, and agreeable front.

But none of the people present dared to treat this girl covered in shit-green mud as an ordinary, harmless young woman.

What ordinary girl could weave through hordes of zombies several times over and casually slice a Fourth-Tier Zombie down to just its head…?

From the third-floor window, Mu Shengzhou watched the standoff below.

As a Fifth-order Ability User, his senses were sharp; he could clearly hear the conversation downstairs.

He had to admit, this girl surprised him.

Not many people could maintain such composure and calm when surrounded, outflanked, and staring down the barrel of a gun.

He wondered if she truly had confidence or was simply carefree.

He hoped it was the former.

Mo Qianqian was escorted upstairs by members of the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps, with people both in front and behind her.

The room was at the easternmost end of the third floor, facing the street.

Upon entering, Mo Qianqian immediately assessed her surroundings, confirming the number and current state of the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps survivors.

There were more survivors than she had anticipated, and their condition was significantly better than she had expected.

Some were injured, but they were far from being a defeated, crippled force.

Her gaze swept past the wounded before settling on the figure standing by the window with his back to her.

Broad shoulders, a wide back, a slender waist, long legs…

Then the man turned around.

A flicker of surprise passed through Mo Qianqian’s eyes.

It was Mu Shengzhou.

So, Captain Mu hadn’t died yet at this point.

According to the original novel, Mu Shengzhou died in this very battle.

Since he was still alive now, he either died during the upcoming breakout, or the Angel Mercenary Corps had further plans to deal with him after the escape…

If it was the former, that would be easier to handle.

If it was the latter, it would require considerably more effort.

Unfortunately, the plot didn’t contain relevant details, so she could only take things as they came.

If their upcoming cooperation went smoothly and this Captain Mu had vision, she wouldn’t mind giving him a hand.

But it would depend on the specific circumstances; it wouldn’t be worth risking herself to save someone.

While Mo Qianqian was sizing up Mu Shengzhou, he was also observing her.

Slender build, tall stature.

Covered from head to toe in corpse grass mud, her features were indistinguishable.

But her eyes were exceptionally bright.

“What should I call you, young lady?” Mu Shengzhou asked.

“My name is Mo Qianqian.”

“I am Mu Shengzhou, leader of the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps,” he introduced himself.

“I guessed as much. Your team member just said you invited me up for a chat,” Mo Qianqian said, her eyes scanning the room.

In the dilapidated, desolate room, there wasn’t even a stool to sit on, let alone a stone or brick to use as a seat.

“Shen Feng, go find a stool for Miss Mo,” Mu Shengzhou ordered.Shen Feng worked with high efficiency, returning in less than a minute.

He didn’t bring a stool, but instead carried over a concrete block about the same height as one, which could barely serve as a seat.

“Miss Mo, please have a seat,” Mu Shengzhou said, pointing at the concrete block.

Mo Qianqian: “…”

At this moment, the situation in the room was rather interesting—everyone inside, except for a few severely injured individuals, was standing.

If it were someone with a thinner skin, they might really hesitate to sit down.

But… she wasn’t one of them.

“Then I won’t stand on ceremony; my legs are indeed a bit sore.”

Mo Qianqian didn’t mind the dust on the concrete block. Her body was smeared with corpse grass mud and splattered with zombie blood and rotting flesh. Honestly, she might not be any cleaner than the surface of that concrete block.

“What would you like to discuss, Captain Mu? You can speak now,” Mo Qianqian said, crossing her legs casually, as if she were in her own territory, her posture relaxed and unrestrained.

Mu Shengzhou took in every move Mo Qianqian made. She was indeed an interesting young woman.

For some reason, he abruptly recalled a phrase he’d once heard by chance: “Beautiful appearances are all alike, but interesting souls are one in a million.”

He felt this girl’s soul was certainly interesting.

But given the current circumstances, he truly had no inclination to explore that interest further.

He didn’t beat around the bush and went straight to the point: “I’m very curious about how Miss Mo can walk freely among zombies without being attacked. I wonder if Miss Mo could enlighten me?”

Mo Qianqian had no intention of keeping him in suspense: “Isn’t it obvious? I’m covered in mud made from crushed corpse grass.

What Captain Mu wants is the secret to applying corpse grass mud to the body without causing skin ulcers, right?”

“Name your terms. My Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps wants this secret formula,” Mu Shengzhou said, finally revealing the commanding presence befitting his status.

It was easy to imagine that if Mo Qianqian refused to give up the formula or tried to evade the topic, this Captain Mu would no longer be as polite as before.

“That’s easy enough. Actually, this isn’t really a secret formula—it’s one of my Special Abilities.”

As soon as the words left her mouth, Mo Qianqian clearly felt the atmosphere around her instantly grow tense and oppressive, making it even slightly difficult to breathe.

It was Mu Shengzhou releasing his pressure—likely because he wasn’t satisfied with the answer she’d given.

It wasn’t surprising. The types of Special Abilities were incredibly varied.

Once something was linked to a Special Ability, it often became impossible to explain clearly.

She was doing it on purpose, deliberately blurring the lines.

She wanted Mu Shengzhou to be unable to tell whether her Special Ability acted on the corpse grass mud or on her own skin.

The difference between the two was significant.

If her Special Ability acted on her skin, making it more resistant to corrosion, then the method of smearing corpse grass mud all over her body couldn’t be used by anyone else.

Only if her Special Ability acted on the corpse grass mud, reducing or neutralizing its corrosive effects, could the members of the Grim Reaper Mercenary Corps possibly use this method to avoid zombies.

The smile had vanished from Mu Shengzhou’s face, replaced by the inscrutable expression typical of those in power.

Besides the stifling air, a faint trace of killing intent now permeated the surrounding space.

“Miss Mo had better think again—is it a Special Ability or a secret formula?

The consequences of angering me are something Miss Mo likely cannot bear.”
