Everyone walked out of the room, and the scene along the way was horrifying.

Broken liquor bottles and shattered decorations were scattered all over the corridor, while dark red blood splattered the walls.

Two zombies suddenly lunged out from around the corner near the elevator. Song Xingci raised his hand and fired two lightning bolts.Full novel: Apocalypse Side Character: Her Devoted Bodyguard Turns Out to Be the Zombie Emperor — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Blue white electric light exploded through the dim corridor.

The zombies collapsed to the ground, and the air filled with the foul smell of something burning.

Fan Jingshen and He Beichuan looked at the two fallen zombie corpses, a trace of envy flashing in their eyes.

Having awakened supernatural abilities really was different.

The group stepped out of the elevator and headed straight for Box Niu Fresh Supermarket.

Then they all froze.

The supermarket entrance was completely intact. The glass doors were tightly closed, yet the inside was completely empty.

There was nothing left on the shelves. Even the chewing gum rack beside the cash register was empty.

The entire supermarket looked as though something had licked every last corner clean. It was absurdly spotless.

“I seem to remember…” Song Shiyu scratched his head, looking puzzled.

“Before I went upstairs last night, I even bought a lighter here. How did it become completely empty overnight?”

Song Xingci frowned, his tone certain. “It was probably another person with a spatial ability who got here first.”

He glanced at Shen Chuman and reassuringly patted the back of her hand.

“It does not matter. We can go to other stores. I refuse to believe anyone has a larger space than Chuman. After collecting everything from Box Niu, her space should be almost full anyway.”

Then they saw the entire shopping mall.

Basement level one, first floor, second floor, third floor, fourth floor, fifth floor.

It looked as though a swarm of locusts had swept through.

Nothing remained.

The clothing stores had nothing but bare racks. The display stands in the electronics stores were completely empty. Even the testers in the cosmetics stores had been ripped away.

The entire shopping mall was so clean that it looked as though it had been looted a hundred times. Even the trash cans had not been spared.

Wen Chu walked at the very back of the group, her chin slightly raised and the corners of her mouth impossible to suppress.

She looked at her own handiwork, feeling absolutely delighted.

Zero cost shopping. It all came down to speed.

If you were too slow, you got nothing.

“What do we do now?” Beichuan asked, a trace of irritation in his voice.

“The sixth floor is a cinema. The seventh floor and above are office buildings. From the thirtieth floor upward, there are hotels, KTVs, clubs, and things like that, but there is not much useful material.”

Song Xingci thought for a moment. “Since this place is already empty, let us go directly to the suburbs. There are many food factories there, and the pharmaceutical companies are also in that area.”

“As for food, Chuman has supplies she collected from the kitchens of the clubs in her space, so we do not have to worry about food for the time being.”

The group went down to the underground parking garage.

Then they all fell silent.

Every single car was a low chassis sports car. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLarens. Each one was lower than the last, and each one was more expensive than the last.

Wen Chu looked at the cars, the corner of her mouth twitching slightly.

Driving this kind of car during the apocalypse?

If even a random piece of a car or a human corpse fell onto the road, the car would get stuck immediately.

Could the black business vehicle mentioned in the novel have been collected later in the story?

Just then, a steady set of footsteps came from deeper inside the parking garage.

Everyone immediately became alert and cautious. Could it be a zombie?

A man was walking toward them.

Human.

Alive.

He appeared to be about one hundred ninety centimeters tall. His suit was immaculate, and the collar of his black shirt was buttoned all the way to the top.

He had long legs and broad shoulders. His cold, handsome face showed no expression at all. His entire body was like a drawn blade, and his presence was so sharp that it made people instinctively avoid looking directly at him.

Standing in front of him, the male lead actually looked like an inexperienced youngster.

Wen Chu froze for a moment.

She did not recognize this man. He had never been mentioned in the novel.

Yet when the others saw him, none of them looked surprised. Their expressions even relaxed, clearly showing that they knew him.

Judging from his presence, he was probably another rich second generation heir, and likely one who had already taken control of his family.

That was what Wen Chu was thinking when the man walked directly toward her.

Then he stopped behind her, lowered his head slightly, and spoke in a deep, respectful voice.

“Miss, are we going home?”

Wen Chu: ?

Miss?

This man was actually the original owner’s bodyguard?

Song Shiyu slapped his forehead as though he had suddenly remembered something.

“Oh, I completely forgot! Qin Yu drove a business vehicle to bring Wen Chu here. That vehicle is big enough for all of us.”

The group walked to the corner of the parking garage, where a black Mercedes business vehicle was quietly parked.

The vehicle was pitch black, with thick windows and wide, sturdy tires. Just sitting there, it looked like a silent steel beast.

Wen Chu looked at the vehicle, her emotions complicated.

So the so-called male lead’s vehicle actually belonged to the original owner!

If she had known the original owner had come with a bodyguard, why had she gotten involved with the male and female leads this morning?

She could have simply driven away.

Once again, she could not help thinking that it would have been wonderful if she could inherit the original owner’s memories.

However, Qin Yu did not open the vehicle door.

He simply stood there. At one hundred ninety centimeters tall, he was like a wall, his calm gaze resting on Wen Chu.

He was waiting for her to speak.

Song Xingci waited outside the vehicle for several seconds, and his expression became somewhat impatient.

“What are you waiting for? Open the door. Do you expect all of us to stand here waiting?”

He had ridden in this vehicle countless times.

Whenever he had a social engagement, Wen Chu would give up her own sports car and specifically have her bodyguard drive this business vehicle over, just so he would have somewhere comfortable to lie down after getting drunk.

In his mind, today would be no different.

Wen Chu crossed her arms and leaned against the vehicle door before speaking leisurely.

“If you want to ride in my vehicle, learn to speak properly.”

Song Xingci frowned. “What do you mean?”

Wen Chu raised her chin slightly and met his gaze without backing down.

“Are my people someone you can casually insult?”

She spoke each word clearly.

“Apologize!”

The air suddenly fell silent.

Song Xingci’s expression slowly turned cold.

There was only one thought in his mind.

Wen Chu was deliberately making trouble for him.

Since she could not have him, she was constantly looking for trouble and deliberately provoking him just to attract his attention.

He took a deep breath, his tone carrying a kind of condescending pity.

“Wen Chu, I already have a girlfriend. I will take responsibility for her. You should give up this…”

“If you are not going to apologize,” Wen Chu interrupted him directly, “then do not ride in my vehicle.”

She glanced at the sports cars in the parking garage.

“Figure it out yourselves.”

After saying that, she turned her head toward Qin Yu and slightly raised her chin.

Qin Yu’s usually expressionless face curved into the faintest smile.

He pressed the button on the vehicle key.

With a beep, the door locks popped open.

Fan Jingshen moved first.

Without changing his expression, he opened the rear door and got inside without saying a word.

Beichuan followed closely behind. Before getting into the vehicle, he turned around and glanced at Song Xingci, a trace of schadenfreude in his eyes.

He had finally gotten to see this fellow suffer a setback.

He had advised Song Xingci long ago to treat his younger sister better, but unfortunately, that fellow never listened.

Song Shiyu sighed helplessly.

He walked over, patted his cousin on the shoulder, and lowered his voice.

“Just apologize properly. A wise man knows when to adapt. There is nothing embarrassing about it.”

“Besides, we all grew up together. Even if there is no love between you anymore, you still have the bond you formed growing up together. Let Wen Chu vent some of her anger.”

Song Xingci stood where he was, his face livid.

He, Song Xingci, was the eldest legitimate grandson of the Song family in Jing City. He had been treated like heaven’s favored son since childhood.

Apologize to a bodyguard?

Dream on!

But his gaze swept across the parking garage.

There was nothing but flashy sports cars.

Their chassis were so low that they could not even get over speed bumps, let alone travel through the ruined streets of the apocalypse.

He could not exactly steal someone else’s vehicle.

It was not a matter of pride. He was not a professional car thief. How was he supposed to open a vehicle without its key?

As for this Mercedes business vehicle, he knew its background.

It had been imported as a complete vehicle and specially modified by the Wen family.

It had bulletproof glass, a reinforced body, and military grade run flat tires.

Forget about crashing into zombies. Even crashing into a wall would not be a problem.

There was no telling how many dangers they would encounter on the way back to Jing City. This vehicle was the safest option.

Song Xingci clenched his fists.

Shen Chuman saw his struggle.

She gently held his hand and spoke softly.

“Darling, if you do not want to travel with them, I will always stay by your side.”

Her eyes were bright, completely filled with him, and her voice was as soft as the spring breeze.

“We can go by ourselves. I am not afraid of hardship. As long as I have you, that is enough.”
