The inside of the vehicle suddenly fell silent.

Song Xingci’s complexion changed from dark to green, then from green to pale, finally settling into a gloomy expression that looked like a storm was about to break.

“Wen Chu, there has to be a limit to your nonsense!”Full novel: Apocalypse Side Character: Her Devoted Bodyguard Turns Out to Be the Zombie Emperor — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

His voice suddenly rose sharply, nearly cracking from the force of it. “This is the apocalypse! There are zombies everywhere outside! Why do you insist on causing trouble at a time like this?!”

His chest heaved violently, as though he had been holding everything in for a long time and had finally exploded.

“I know that seeing me with Chuman is painful for you and that you find it hard to accept, but I have already made my decision! I will only marry Chuman in this lifetime! Give up on that idea and stop causing trouble!”

Wen Chu was stunned for a second.

What kind of logic was going through the male lead’s head?

Before she could say anything, Shen Chuman had already rushed over and grabbed her hand.

Her hands were cold and trembling slightly.

Shen Chuman’s eyes were as red as a rabbit’s, tears swirling in them, yet she stubbornly refused to let them fall.

“Miss Wen, I truly love Xingci…” Her voice carried a sobbing note and trembled slightly. “I can give you anything else. I can give you anything you want… but… but I cannot give Xingci to you.”

She bit her lip, tears clinging to her eyelashes. She looked as pitiful as a delicate flower caught in a storm.

“Please, I beg you. Don’t make Xingci struggle because of me, all right?”

Wen Chu lowered her head and looked at the hand Shen Chuman was holding, then raised her head and looked at Shen Chuman’s pitiful face.

What kind of ridiculous melodrama was this?

She was so shocked that she could not speak for a moment.

Song Xingci had already pulled Shen Chuman into his arms. His chin rested against the top of her head, and his voice became as gentle as though he were coaxing a three year old child.

“My Chuman… my considerate Chuman. How can you be so kind and wonderful? Don’t worry. I will never leave you. No one can separate us.”

Shen Chuman buried her face against his chest and gave a muffled “Mm,” her shoulders still trembling with quiet sobs.

Song Xingci lifted her face and gently wiped away the tear marks at the corners of her eyes with his thumb. His voice was soft and doting.

“Don’t be afraid. Your husband will handle it.”

He turned his face toward Wen Chu, and that tenderness instantly vanished without a trace.

“My bottom line is forty forty twenty.” He raised four fingers, his tone sounding like a final ultimatum. “Not a single point more!”

Wen Chu took a deep breath and used every bit of patience she had left in this lifetime.

“Why is it so difficult to make you understand? You all get out of the vehicle. I am going to the canning factory next door.”

Song Xingci stared at her in disbelief, as though he were looking at an unreasonable child.

“Why are you still making trouble? There are zombies everywhere outside. Once you leave me, who will protect you?”

He sneered and glanced at Qin Yu.

“Qin Yu? Do you think everyone is like me, willing to tolerate your bad temper and indulge you?”

Wen Chu’s patience finally snapped.

“Indulge your sister!”

She could not take it anymore.

A huge ball of water appeared out of nowhere and slammed directly into Song Xingci’s face, instantly engulfing his entire head.

Song Xingci’s voice stopped abruptly.

The ball of water sealed his head completely. He could not open his mouth, and whenever he tried, water immediately poured inside.

He stumbled backward and frantically clawed at the ball of water covering his face, but it was as immovable as though it had grown directly onto his head.

“Mm… mm mm…”

His neck quickly turned red, and the veins on it bulged.

Shen Chuman panicked and rushed over to slap at the ball of water.

“Miss Wen! Let Xingci go!”

She looked at Wen Chu, tears finally spilling from her eyes.

“I won’t compete with you anymore! As long as Xingci is safe, I am willing to do anything! Please let him go, all right?”

Wen Chu rolled her eyes.

What use was it to say that?

Why did she not simply use her spatial ability to collect the water ball?

But Shen Chuman merely stood there crying, completely at a loss as she stomped her feet.

Wen Chu sighed inwardly.

Sure enough, the female lead had already been spoiled into uselessness.

When something happened, her first reaction was not to find a solution.

She simply cried and begged someone else for help.

Song Shiyu finally could not sit still anymore and hurried over.

“Wen Chu, you have already vented your anger. Hurry and remove the water ball!”

He pointed at Song Xingci.

“Look, his eyes are practically bulging out. Let him go already.”

Wen Chu did not move.

She looked at Song Xingci’s face inside the water ball, twisted from suffocation, and only one thought filled her mind.

How could the male lead die so easily?

If he really died, that would be even better.

“Last night,” she said slowly, “he pushed me to the ground and I even fainted.”

“He did not care about me. He did not even look at me. He simply turned around and went to sleep with someone else.”

It was more than merely fainting. The original owner had actually already died.

She tilted her head.

“He was basically trying to kill me. Now I am simply treating him the way he treated me.”

Song Shiyu froze. He had not known about this.

He Beichuan and Fan Jingshen exchanged a glance, both falling silent.

They did not know what had happened last night, but Wen Chu had never been someone who lied without reason.

Song Shiyu opened his mouth as though he wanted to say something, then closed it again.

Wen Chu should know where to draw the line… right?

The struggling movements of Song Xingci inside the water ball grew weaker and weaker. His face had already turned purplish red.

It seemed as though he would suffocate to death in the next moment.

Qin Yu raised his hand.

The water ball trembled slightly before disappearing into thin air.

Song Xingci collapsed limply onto the seat, gasping desperately for breath.

He looked like a fish stranded on land, his throat making hoarse, rattling sounds.

Shen Chuman rushed over and hugged him, crying as she called his name.

Qin Yu lowered his hand and looked at Wen Chu.

He lowered his head slightly, an expression of helplessness on his face, yet there was also the faintest curve at the corner of his lips.

“My young lady,” he said in a deep, magnetic voice, “have you calmed down?”

Wen Chu looked at him and suddenly felt a little embarrassed.

Good heavens, why did a bodyguard have such a nice voice?

In the back row, Song Shiyu let out a long sigh of relief.

Beichuan leaned over and lowered his voice.

“Your cousin really has a lucky life.”

Fan Jingshen added expressionlessly, “Whether his life is lucky or not, I do know that his mouth is asking for trouble.”

He Beichuan could not hold back and burst out laughing.

As for Song Xingci, it took him quite a while to recover.

He raised his head and looked at Wen Chu.

There was more than anger in his eyes.

There was suspicion.

Those eyes stared fixedly at her, as though he were reassessing someone he had known for more than ten years, yet who had suddenly become a complete stranger.

Wen Chu could not be bothered to look at him.

Let him be suspicious.

There was no soul testing device that could prove she was not the original owner anyway.

She turned around and swept her gaze over the three people in the back row.

“Are the three of you going to follow Song Xingci, or are you choosing to follow me?”
