Xia Sisi had been scribbling and planning on paper for quite a while.

Improving her physical fitness—that was the top priority.

Although she had Dahei to protect her, Xia Sisi couldn’t become dependent on him.Full novel: Apocalypse Stockpiling: I Just Want to Be Lazy with My Billions of Supplies — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

In her previous life, she already knew how to use a knife—and she was quite skilled. The alertness she developed during the apocalypse and the combat techniques she honed in real battles were all valuable.

However, her current body was weak, with insufficient muscle mass. She needed to improve her physical condition.

Next came stockpiling—food, supplies, medicines for harsh weather, clothing, daily necessities, and even dog food, treats, and clothes for Dahei!

There were also transportation tools to prepare for extreme conditions like snow, floods, and earthquakes—RVs, sleds (Dahei could pull one), off-road vehicles, and boats.

Tents, camping lights, camping shovels, solar charging panels, generators, water purification equipment… all of these were essential.

After that, she would need to renovate her home.

Looking at the house in front of her, Xia Sisi frowned slightly. Although it wasn’t small—about 150 square meters, left to her by her parents—and located in the city center, the floor was too low.

Acid rain, floods, and blizzards could submerge buildings up to ten or even twenty floors. To stay safe, she needed a place above the 20th floor—preferably the top floor.

Living on the top floor also meant that in emergencies, she could quickly access the rooftop—an extra layer of security.

Thinking of this, Xia Sisi suddenly remembered something from her previous life.

About a month after the apocalypse began, acid rain had been falling continuously. Most streets were flooded, and people could only travel by boat.

Order had collapsed. Most households were running out of food.

Everyone was desperately searching for supplies, uncertain of what would come next.

Xia Sisi and several others had formed a temporary team to search for resources.

By chance, they came across a 12-story building.

The first two floors were already submerged. When they entered the third floor, they discovered that the lower levels had been used as a logistics center, while the upper floors were filled with livestream e-commerce companies!

There had been everything imaginable up there.

Unfortunately, after prolonged rainfall, the building had been corroded. The goods in the lower floors were submerged and ruined.

Anything soaked in acid rain was inedible.

The building was old, with poor waterproofing. Many parts of the upper floors had leaks, and numerous rooms were damaged.

Although everyone returned with a full haul, they still felt regret over the ruined supplies.

With that thought, Xia Sisi took out her phone, opened the map, and searched for the building based on her memory.

After several failed attempts, she finally recognized it from the street view—a small high-rise called “Xintai Building.”

“That’s it!”

She jumped up excitedly, dropping the pen in her hand.

Beside her, Dahei—who had been chewing on a plush toy sheep—was startled by her sudden movement. He looked over, his mouth still mid-bite, appearing a bit… goofy.

“Dahei, let’s go out together!”

Xia Sisi walked over and hugged his neck.

Startled by her sudden affection, Dahei sat upright and looked at her as if she were a fool.

But Xia Sisi didn’t mind. She grabbed his leash, picked up her car keys, and happily headed straight for Xintai Building.

Her plan was to rent a high-rise apartment nearby.

Once the apocalypse arrived and the water rose to about the first floor, she and Dahei would sneak into that building and claim all the supplies inside!

After all, leaving them there would just be a waste.

Driving around the area, Xia Sisi quickly found a high-rise she liked.

It was a 66-story mixed-use apartment building with two sections—A and B.

Tower A was mostly office spaces, while Tower B offered short-term rentals, with large suites on the top floor.

She specifically wanted a large space—for Dahei.

Once the apocalypse began, they wouldn’t be able to go anywhere, and a small space wouldn’t be enough for him to move around.

After parking, Xia Sisi called an agent listed on a rental app, asking if there were any top-floor units available—preferably large ones.

The agent sounded excited:

“Miss, you’re really lucky! We just had a 200-square-meter top-floor suite become available. Are you looking for a long-term or short-term lease?”

Dahei, sitting beside her, glanced at Xia Sisi—or rather, her phone—with a droopy expression, as if he were unimpressed by the agent’s sales pitch.

“I’m downstairs. Let’s talk in person.”

The agent happily gave her the room number.

Xia Sisi glanced at Dahei in the car, took out two pet toys and a bowl of water, and cracked the window open slightly.

“Dahei, I’m going to check out the apartment. I’ll be back as soon as I can. Can you wait for me in the car?”

Dahei tilted his head slightly, picked up a rabbit-shaped toy, and lay down in the back seat, chewing on it by himself.

Xia Sisi sighed—seems like she still needed to build a stronger bond with him. He clearly wasn’t dependent on her at all.

She really wanted to see him develop separation anxiety and become a clingy “mama’s boy” dog.

Upstairs, the agent was already waiting. Upon seeing her, he eagerly began introducing the apartment’s high-end renovation and spacious layout.

“Look at this view—it’s perfect for overlooking the city!”

The agent led her to the living room and pointed at the floor-to-ceiling window.

Standing by the window, Xia Sisi looked down—and saw the very high-rise building she had been thinking about.

Not only that, this was the tallest building in the area. From the top floor, she could observe everything nearby.

That would be extremely useful for monitoring the surroundings.

“I want to rent for five years. I’ll need to renovate it myself. Rent paid every three months, with a two-month deposit. We’ll sign a formal lease. Is that okay?”

“Five years?”

The agent was stunned.

After all, these apartments were relatively expensive. Few people rented them long-term.

“Yes. I need to renovate. If that’s acceptable, we can sign the contract this afternoon.”

The agent immediately nodded, unable to hide his delight, and quickly called the landlord.

It was peak tourist season in the city, so renting it out for five years at this price was a great deal.

The landlord agreed, with conditions: no demolishing load-bearing walls, no damaging the main structure, and the apartment must be restored to its original condition upon return.

Xia Sisi agreed to everything and even signed a high-penalty compensation clause, then promptly paid three months’ rent.

After all, once the apocalypse arrived in three months, the landlord probably wouldn’t be coming to collect any more rent.

And with her modifications, this apartment should be enough to help her survive the first half-year of apocalyptic disasters safely.
