Xia Sisi crouched down and gently patted Dahei’s head, pointing at the long scar across his back.

“The injury was too severe. He’s no longer suitable for intense physical activity, so he had to retire.”

Seeing that many people in the crowd were moved, Xia Sisi stood up and raised her voice:Full novel: Apocalypse Stockpiling: I Just Want to Be Lazy with My Billions of Supplies — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“If a meritorious dog like this, after retiring, can’t even integrate into normal life or enjoy a peaceful life in an ordinary family—then where is our conscience? Are these military dogs meant to serve the people and then be discarded? They are lives too! Some of them have saved more people than most of us will in a lifetime!”

“When I adopted Dahei, the officer who handed him over kept telling me to take good care of him. Dahei is their comrade—just like those soldiers. He went through harsh training and stood on the front lines of danger! He deserves respect and a good life—not to be slandered by petty people!”

The yellow-haired man had originally continued livestreaming, trying to stir up more trouble.

But seeing public opinion completely turn against him—and hearing Xia Sisi’s speech—he hurriedly shut off the stream.

After Xia Sisi finished speaking, applause broke out among the crowd. The loudest clapping came from the young girl and the police officer.

In the end, the yellow-haired man slunk away in embarrassment, still being cursed at by others as he left.

The girl and the officer both gave Xia Sisi—or rather, Dahei—a thumbs-up.

Dahei sat quietly beside Xia Sisi, panting softly, showing neither pride nor arrogance. Calm and unbothered—making him seem even more endearing.

Once everyone had left, Xia Sisi crouched down and gave Dahei a big hug.

“Dahei, were you protecting me just now? You were amazing!”

Dahei, however, pushed her away with his paw, his large eyes filled with a hint of disdain…

After that incident, Dahei absolutely refused to go back into the car.

With no other choice, Xia Sisi took him upstairs with her.

By then, the agent had finished discussing with his boss and called Xia Sisi over.

She figured bringing Dahei upstairs would also let him see the large apartment—after all, he would be one of its future “owners” too.

Because Xia Sisi was selling her house far below market price, the agency boss decided to buy it himself first and resell it later at the right time.

That very afternoon, they signed the contract.

The house had a great location and large space, always a hot property in the city. At market value, it would sell for over 4.6 million.

Since Xia Sisi lowered the price by one million, she would still receive about 3.6 million.

After signing, the agency boss paid her a deposit of 50,000 that same day and said the ownership transfer would be handled the next day.

Holding the deposit and seeing that there was still time, Xia Sisi decided to take Dahei out for a bit of fun.

They first went to the nearest pet store.

As soon as they entered, Xia Sisi told Dahei to pick whatever snacks and toys he liked.

Dahei didn’t hold back. With just a slight wave from Xia Sisi, he began a full-on “shopping spree.”

Freeze-dried treats, canned food, air-dried chicken jerky—he picked a whole pile.

For every item he liked, Xia Sisi asked the store how much stock they had—and bought all of it!

He even chose his own dog food, sniffing different bulk bins left and right before selecting a few he liked.

And again—whatever was available, Xia Sisi bought it all.

However, pet stores didn’t carry huge inventories. After visiting two or three shops, they only managed to fill one trunk with dog supplies.

Then Xia Sisi realized—Dahei was picky!

He clearly preferred chicken and beef flavors. Things like cod and salmon? He didn’t like them at all.

He only reluctantly chose two types of salmon-flavored canned food.

Looking at the trunk, Xia Sisi tapped his head lightly.

“Dahei, being picky isn’t good. At the next store, let’s pick more variety, okay?”

Dahei pretended not to hear, turning his big head away.

It was clear—when it came to food, he was stubborn!

So at the next store, Xia Sisi picked some fish-flavored cans and snacks for him herself.

It was for variety—so life wouldn’t get too boring.

What if he got tired of eating chicken, beef, and venison all the time?

Human tastes change—who’s to say dogs’ tastes don’t?

Dahei looked unhappy, his face drooping, eyes slightly rolled upward—a clear “I don’t like you right now” expression.

Xia Sisi could only sigh helplessly.

Balanced nutrition was important!

“A picky eater isn’t a good boy. Let’s just buy a little, okay?”

After repeated persuasion, Dahei finally seemed slightly appeased.

As for toys, Xia Sisi noticed Dahei loved plush toys.

All kinds of plush toys—he liked them all!

Even ones Xia Sisi found ridiculously ugly—like a brightly colored, weird-looking stuffed dog—he treated like treasure, grabbing it from the shelf.

Some toys were tiny, barely palm-sized—almost disappearing in Dahei’s huge mouth.

But if he liked them, she bought them!

She also bought over twenty dog beds from several pet stores, thinking Dahei should sleep comfortably.

Because she bought so much, each store even threw in extras like chew sticks.

That’s when Xia Sisi remembered—dogs need to brush their teeth too!

And once the apocalypse came, bathing Dahei would be a problem—no more pet salons.

So she bought enough pet shampoo and dog toothpaste to last a lifetime.

She also purchased five or six large pet dryers to dry his fur.

After all, once the apocalypse hit, Dahei would mutate and grow even bigger. In extreme cold, if his fur stayed wet and couldn’t dry, he could easily get sick.

After buying all sorts of miscellaneous items and visiting over a dozen pet stores, Xia Sisi was finally satisfied.

Whenever the trunk filled up, she transferred everything into her storage space.

After repeating this seven or eight times, Dahei’s supplies and food for the apocalypse were fully stocked.

At that moment, Xia Sisi suddenly thought about one more issue—

Going to the bathroom.

Not just for Dahei—but for herself too.

Once the apocalypse began, they wouldn’t be able to go out. Water and electricity would likely fail, making toilets unusable.

They would need an alternative solution.

And just then, Xia Sisi noticed something in the pet store—

Cat litter… and pet pee pads.
