Yuna Bishop’s face was deceptively innocent and pure.
Most importantly, she was weak—physically weak.
It gave people the impression they could easily control or kill her.
Most people easily let their guard down around Yuna Bishop.
The members of The Watcher Organization were no exception.
After a moment’s hesitation, they readily accepted Yuna Bishop’s kind offer.
They were in desperate need of medical supplies; after all, their companion’s injuries couldn’t wait.
“Thank you.
We’ll compensate you later, after we regroup with the main force.”
The leader of the group removed his mask, revealing a young, handsome face.
He took the bandages and Antibiotics from Yuna Bishop and thanked her politely.
“It’s nothing, really.”
Yuna Bishop waved her hands in a flustered manner.
The moment she saw his face, she shyly turned away.
The man coughed lightly, the tips of his ears turning red.
If he had looked closely at Yuna Bishop, however, he would have seen that there wasn’t a trace of shyness in her eyes.
Yuna Bishop was just acting to maintain her persona.
‘The two groups of NPCs I’ve met so far have been surprisingly good-looking,’ Yuna Bishop thought.
‘And whether it was Sue Carter or The Watcher Organization, neither group of NPCs seemed any different from real players.’
“By the way, I think this is yours.”
Yuna Bishop took a black box out of her inventory.
The moment the leader saw it, he asked urgently.
“Where did you find this?!”
“Near Salix First Hospital.
There was an abandoned car with the same symbol as yours painted on the side.
There was nothing else inside but this.”
Yuna Bishop’s description was very detailed.
After learning the location, the leader began discussing something in a low voice with his companions.
She didn’t pry, instead lowering her head to check her rewards.
The unknown reward was Experience Points for her Talent.
One hundred points, plus an increase of 10 favorability with The Watcher Organization.
It was enough for Yuna Bishop to upgrade two Talents.
But choosing which ones to upgrade was a real problem. Visit g.com for the full chapter.
Her three existing Talents were all very powerful.
Speed was crucial for escaping, Physical Strength determined her daily search capacity, and as for Lucky Scavenger, that went without saying.
The 10% chance for double loot shouldn’t be underestimated.
‘Upgrading it should also increase the chance for triple loot.’
After some hesitation, Yuna Bishop ultimately chose to upgrade Sprinting Champion and Lucky Scavenger.
As for Strong Body, she wasn’t in desperate need of more Physical Strength at the moment, especially with Noir helping her out.
After the upgrade, Sprinting Champion’s Speed bonus increased to 10, and the proc rates for Lucky Scavenger also doubled.
[Talent·Lucky Scavenger Level 2 (0/100): 20% chance to obtain double the resources, 5% chance to obtain triple the resources.]
‘A 5% chance for triple resources!
That’s not low at all!’
Just as Yuna Bishop finished upgrading her Talent Level, she heard the leader talking to someone on his communication device.
She’d overheard someone call him Joel Reed.
‘These NPCs all have pretty nice names.’
Sue Carter, Joel Reed, Nathan King.
‘Speaking of which, Sue Carter said that guy Nathan King buys and sells resources.’
“…”
‘A merchant named Nathan King…
I have a feeling he’d haggle you to death.’
“Has the Rotted Wood appeared?”
Joel Reed’s brow furrowed.
This city was home to too many terrifying zombies, and the Rotted Wood Zombie was one of them.
As a Tier 6 Zombie, it liked to travel with other High Tier Zombies.
The most terrifying thing was that when multiple Rotted Wood Zombies gathered, they gained a strange ability that made them nearly impossible to destroy.
Even if they could be destroyed, it would come at a terrible price.
The Rotted Wood Zombie was essentially the Priest of the zombie world!
“Dammit, who the hell woke that thing up!”
Joel Reed couldn’t help but mutter a curse.
The culprit, Yuna, heard Joel Reed cursing her, but her expression didn’t change in the slightest, as if he weren’t talking about her at all.
She and Noir were squatting curiously beside a Watcher member, watching him maintain and assemble his firearm.
“Are you interested?”
The member pulled down his mask, revealing a rather boyish face.
He looked even younger than Yuna Bishop, maybe in his late teens or early twenties.
“Uh-huh.”
Yuna Bishop nodded emphatically.
The boy chuckled and immediately began showing off his expertise.
Yuna Bishop listened intently.
This was all stuff she could never learn in the real world.
As Noir was such an athletic-looking dog, the other members were delighted to see him and opened a can of meat for him to eat.
It was a can full of large chunks of beef. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.
Nearby, Joel Reed was still coordinating with the other teams.
Soon, he finished his conversation and walked over to Yuna Bishop.
“Sorry, little sis.
I was going to take you to our base—it’s very safe there—but with the Rotted Wood Zombie’s appearance, a large number of High Tier Zombies have gathered in this area.”
“This whole area has become very dangerous, and we have to stay behind to deal with these zombies.
“How about I have Rong send you to the base?”
Rong was the young man who had just been teaching her about guns.
Yuna Bishop had no desire to get mixed up with these Watcher members.
She didn’t know the first thing about them, even if they seemed friendly enough.
But…
there was no guarantee they weren’t just like her.
‘Besides, a “base” sounds dangerous in itself.’
“It’s okay, you don’t have to.
I’ll be fine on my own.”
Yuna Bishop shook her head, quickly cutting Joel Reed off to explain.
“A woman I met earlier told me a Beast Tamer came to the New District.
I want to take Noir to find them.”
“The Beast Tamer…
you must mean that guy, Sylas.”
One of the members, a woman, seemed to know the Beast Tamer and enthusiastically pointed out their usual area of activity to Yuna Bishop.
Because Yuna Bishop had stirred up the Rotted Wood Zombie, Joel Reed and his team had to go eliminate it.
They couldn’t just let these High Tier Zombies continue to wreak havoc on the city.
Before they parted ways, Joel Reed and his group marked Yuna Bishop’s map with the recent activity zones of various merchants and organizations.
This included the location of the Watchers’ base.
Joel Reed expressed his hope that Yuna Bishop would head to the base after finding the Beast Tamer, mentioning that many elderly people and children were there.
They welcomed all human survivors except for criminals, seeing it as their duty to protect what was left of humanity.
In addition to the map, they gave Yuna Bishop a spare bulletproof vest (+15 Defense) and ten cans of beef (+70 Satiety).
If it weren’t for the incident with the Rotted Wood Zombie, Joel Reed would have given her a firearm and ammunition as well.
‘This side quest was totally worth it, even if I didn’t get any money.’
After bidding Joel Reed and the others a worried farewell, Yuna Bishop’s expression grew calm again.
She had killed a player just before this, but because she ran into The Watcher Organization, she hadn’t had a chance to check his Talents and what he’d dropped.
Yuna Bishop was growing impatient, but she reined in her curiosity, taking Noir to find a safe location before she began to look.
