The player that Yuna Bishop and Noir had teamed up to kill didn’t leave much behind, mostly because he didn’t have many Backpack Grids.

His three Backpack Grids held three bottles of mineral water, two rolls of Disinfectant Bandages, and a single cup of a Yellow Herbal Potion that restored 10% of one’s Physical Strength Value.

Yuna Bishop was already well-stocked with supplies, so she didn’t care much about what the player had left behind.Full novel: Apocalypse Survival Game? I Become a Big Shot by Scavenging. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Her focus was on his Talent.

[Locksmith: 30% chance to open A Level locks, 1% chance to open B Level Locks]

‘Locksmith.

Seems pretty decent.’

However, Yuna Bishop had been in the game for three days now and had searched quite a few places, but she hadn’t yet encountered anything with a lock.

Without hesitation, Yuna Bishop used the Talent Card.

She glanced at Noir, who was lying beside her.

‘If I come across a suitable Talent Card, I could actually use it on Noir.’

Yuna Bishop still didn’t know what Noir’s Talent was.

‘Hopefully, that Beast Tamer will have a surprise in store for me.’

Night had fallen, and Yuna Bishop and Noir were holed up on the second floor of a shop.

It was the most intact building in the vicinity and offered some defensive capability.

After organizing her newly acquired supplies, Yuna Bishop placed the Nail Gun in her first Backpack Grid to ensure she could grab it at a moment’s notice.

Because of what she’d done during the day, the night was exceptionally lively.

Many players and NPCs couldn’t sleep, clutching their weapons with wide eyes, terrified the zombies outside would break through their doors.

Yuna Bishop, on the other hand, was sleeping soundly after she and Noir had each finished a nutrient meal and a bottle of mineral water for dinner.

They had eaten the same thing for lunch.

However, neither Yuna Bishop nor Noir was sleeping too deeply.

After all, High Tier Zombies were extremely active now.

The night wind was cold, carrying the sounds of gunfire and the roars of zombies.

Yuna Bishop pulled her blanket tighter and closed her eyes.

Noir was also asleep on a mattress, with his own blanket.

He was living better than most players.

‘This life is a little intense, but it’s actually not bad.’

…

「Day four of the game.」

Yuna Bishop woke up at six o’clock sharp.

When she got up, Noir got up with her.

Since cleanliness was a matter of health, Yuna Bishop was now very meticulous about washing her face and brushing her teeth.

For breakfast, she and Noir each had a box of instant noodles and a self-heating hot pot, maxing out their Satiety and Water Values.

She had to admit, eating self-heating hot pots and instant noodles was a bit of a waste.

It took two bottles of mineral water, but the amount of Water Value they restored was minimal.

Yuna Bishop and Noir had to open another bottle just to get their Water Value back to full.

Once they were fully recovered, Yuna Bishop slung on her pack, grabbed the Nail Gun, and set off with Noir.

There weren’t many zombies around the shop, likely because they had all been drawn away by Joel Reed and his group.

Yuna Bishop quickly cleared out the zombies downstairs with her Nail Gun.

Her current location was on the edge of the Old District, near the city’s outskirts.

She was still a long way from the Beast Tamer, Sylas, in the New District.

At Yuna Bishop’s previous pace and considering the density of the zombies, it would probably take three days.

‘That’s a pretty long time…’

The shortest route had the most zombies, and there was no need for her to take that risk.

Fewer zombies meant fewer humans and fewer resources.

‘It would be great to get a new vehicle, like that heavy motorcycle Sue Carter was riding.’

Yuna Bishop’s beat-up bicycle had no Defense and no Speed.

Unfortunately, she didn’t have time to specifically search for a vehicle.

The current priority was to find the Beast Tamer, and then search for a vehicle.

Actually, among the NPCs marked for her by The Watcher Organization, there was a vehicle merchant.

An NPC named Verdant was said to have a massive fleet of vehicles.

The prices were exorbitant, and the gasoline was even more expensive.

Vehicles needed gasoline, a resource that depleted with use.

Suddenly, Yuna Bishop thought her bicycle wasn’t so bad after all.

‘Its fuel economy was just one person per hundred kilometers.’

With a clear goal and sufficient supplies, Yuna Bishop didn’t waste time searching buildings, unless she had a very strong feeling about a particular one, in which case she would make a special mark on it.

The saying “the more resources, the more zombies, and the higher their tiers” wasn’t just an empty phrase.

The major supermarkets in the New District and the wholesale markets in the Old District were filled with countless High Tier Zombies and had yet to be conquered.

Yuna Bishop and Noir set out on their journey to find the Beast Tamer, doing their best to avoid areas dense with zombies or other players.

Zombies moved in hordes, and players moved in groups.

Yuna Bishop had no desire to confront those players head-on; there were too many of them.

Every day at three in the afternoon, she would promptly begin searching for a shelter for the night.

That was about the right time, as clearing out the zombies around and inside a shelter took a considerable amount of time.

Time passed quickly, and Yuna Bishop steadily drew closer to the area where the Beast Tamer was active.

On the fifth day of the game, her luck took a huge turn for the better.

Noir actually found a lone Tier 3 Zombie.

This was a complete windfall.

A Tier 3 Zombie was worth 200 RMB.

‘A little on the cheap side, but still better than my old job, where my daily wage was less than 100 RMB.’

A lone Tier 3 Zombie during the day only had a little under 300 Blood Volume.

Yuna Bishop could handle it with her Nail Gun and Crossbow.

With Noir kiting it, Yuna Bishop took every opportunity to strike.

The Tier 3 Zombie’s massive body was soon bristling with nails.

Just as Yuna Bishop was about to deal the final blow, a sharp, piercing sound suddenly cut through the air from a short distance away!

Noir tackled Yuna Bishop to the ground just in time, glaring fiercely at the several people who had suddenly appeared in the distance.

Yuna Bishop immediately covered Noir’s eyes and scrambled up from the ground.

“Sorry, sorry!

Are you all right?”

“We’ve been chasing this zombie for so long, we got a little excited when we saw it and didn’t notice anyone else was here.”

“We’re really so sorry.”

Though they spoke words of apology, their tone held not a hint of remorse.

Instead, it was dripping with sarcasm.

‘Saying they’d been chasing this zombie for a long time…

aren’t they just accusing me of stealing their kill?’

‘But when I ran into this zombie, it was at full health.’

Yuna Bishop suppressed the malice in her heart and forced a strained smile.

In her peripheral vision, she saw a player pick up the Mutated Blood from the ground.

‘Bastard!’

‘A bunch of bastards!’

“I’m fine.”

“Since you’ve killed your zombie, I’ll be on my way.”

Yuna Bishop was already calculating how to kill this group of players.

They weren’t like that Scrawny bunch she’d encountered last time.

Although they didn’t appear to have any guns, it was obvious their Combat Power was on a different level from Scrawny’s crew.

‘A tough kill.’

Even with her gun, it would be useless.

They had the advantage in both numbers and strength.

Yuna Bishop temporarily swallowed her frustration, but the next second, the words of the player who had picked up the Mutated Blood made her killing intent flare up again.

“Yo, this dog is pretty fat.

Ought to be enough for a few meals, huh.”
