The blue Hextech crystal released a blinding light, followed by a massive explosion.

“Damn it!” Felix’s heart clenched.

He could see the power contained inside that tiny crystal.Full novel: Arcane: The Road to Runeterra — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

A card suddenly slid into his hand, and the pattern on it was clearly Lionheart Braum.

[Skin compatibility, 19%.

Force increase?

Forcibly increasing compatibility will enhance the user’s abilities while causing physical damage.] [Yes.] Felix could not care about that anymore.

Important people were behind him.

All he needed to do was use everything he had to protect them.

On the other side, Vander also pulled Vi into his arms to shield her.

The card flashed and entered Felix’s body.

Behind him, the image of a bald, muscular man seemed to appear.

“You can always trust Braum.” That faint voice echoed in Felix’s mind.

A massive shield appeared in his hands, more than twice as large as his entire body.

He stepped forward and completely protected Silco behind him.

At that moment, the Hextech crystal exploded, and enormous light swallowed the entire factory.

This explosion was astonishingly powerful.

Mylo was pierced through by steel rebar carried by the shockwave.

Claggor was blasted away.

The roof shattered into pieces and came crashing down.

The instant Vander saw the explosion, he held Vi tightly and protected her.

He was also blown back by the blast.

This explosion did not only affect Silco, Vander, and the others.

It also reached the doctor doing experiments downstairs, as well as the large number of test subjects they had created.

Only after a long while did the light fade.

The hand Felix used to hold the shield trembled slightly, and thin streams of blood spilled from his mouth.

But behind him, everything was completely safe.

Only then did Silco react.

He hurriedly supported the trembling Felix.

“Are you all right, Felix?” His eyes were full of worry.

“I’m fine.

Let’s go down and take a look.” Felix took a moment to recover, then wiped the blood from his mouth before speaking.

“So much serum was destroyed by the explosion.

Silco, your plan will have to be delayed again,” Felix suddenly said.

“As long as no one died, it’s fine.

We can make another batch of these things soon enough.” Silco was shaken.

He had never imagined losing Felix.

Fortunately, Felix had not suffered any major injuries.

Felix withdrew from his transformed state.

The shield in his hand turned into a streak of light and returned to his body.

The card that had symbolized Lionheart Braum shattered completely.

“Vander!

Vander!” Vi was already sobbing.

She held the battered Vander in her arms and screamed, venting her helplessness.

At that moment, Powder rushed in through the entrance.

She knew she had done something wrong.

When she saw Vander lying in Vi’s arms, her mind went blank.

“What did you do?

Look at what you did!” Vi cried as she screamed at Powder.

Vander was her father, but now their father was clearly on the verge of death.

“I’m sorry, Vi.

I’m sorry.

I didn’t mean to.” Powder looked at Vi timidly, her body trembling uncontrollably.

“I told you not to come.” Vi had her back to Powder, her voice cold and filled with anger.

“Why did you leave me behind?” Powder cried helplessly.

Vi got up and moved toward Powder, then punched her directly.

“Because you’re a jinx!

Do you hear me?

Mylo was right.

You’re a jinx!” Vi was almost hysterical.

“Don’t do this, Violet.

Don’t do this.

Please, please…” Powder was pushed down by Vi and fell sitting to the ground.

Tears poured uncontrollably from her eyes.

Vi suddenly let go.

Looking at the blood and tears on her hand, tears also began welling in her own eyes.

“Please, please, Violet.” Powder was already sobbing too hard to speak clearly, only able to choke out her pleas.

Vi looked deeply at her, then finally stood up and left with determination.

“Vi!

Come back!

I’m begging you, Violet, please!” When Powder saw Vi get up, she burst into loud sobs, her voice growing more and more choked.

Lightning flashed across the sky, and the rain fell even harder.

At that moment, Vi leaned against the wall in an alley.

She did not understand how things had ended up like this.

She needed time to sort it out, and she needed time before she could forgive Powder.

Powder’s throat was already hoarse from crying.

She knelt on the ground, pounding the floor with both hands, her eyes filled with disappointment and confusion.

At that moment, Silco’s group had just walked out of the factory and saw Powder kneeling on the ground, crying.

“Wait.

Let’s go take a look,” Felix said.

He still had a favorable impression of Powder.

The group walked over to Powder.

They knew the explosion had been caused by her.

Many of their men had been wounded because of it, and some had even died.

Except for Felix and Silco.

If Felix admired Powder herself and had some fondness for her, then Silco saw his own shadow in Powder.

“She doesn’t want me anymore.” When Powder saw Felix, she threw her arms around him and cried as she spoke.

“It’s okay.

You still have me.

I told you, you’re a genius.

She’ll regret it.” Felix stroked Powder’s head and comforted her.

At that moment, through the gap over Felix’s shoulder, Powder looked in the direction Vi had left.

Only hatred remained in her eyes.

No one noticed Vander’s finger twitch slightly.

On the other side, Vi saw Silco and the others approach Powder.

Afraid they wanted revenge, she hurriedly got up to stop them.

But a large hand appeared behind her and covered her mouth.

The drug on the handkerchief knocked her unconscious, and her already exhausted body collapsed into the man’s arms.

That person was clearly an Enforcer from Topside.

After they had only taken a few steps, Felix spat out a large mouthful of clotted blood.

“Damn it,” he thought.

He knew the backlash had arrived.

He remembered the first time he had used Heimerdinger’s trial card and forcibly raised the compatibility to fifty percent.

That pain had made him wish he were dead.

Last time, it had taken him a full week to barely recover.

This time, he was probably going to feel that pain again.

Silco caught Felix in one motion.

“Are you all right?

Sevika, go get a doctor, now.” As he asked, he gave Sevika the order.

“Yes.” After receiving the order, Sevika left immediately.

“I’m fine.

It’s just a little backlash from that ability of mine.

I’ll be better after a while.” Felix comforted him.

At that moment, the muscles throughout his entire body ached terribly.

Every step felt like he was being torn apart.

Supported by Silco, he walked toward home.

“Oh, right, Powder.

I probably won’t be able to teach you anything for a while.

You’ll have to wait at least until my body recovers.

For the next few days, you can read the books in my study first, or study the firearms I made.

Either is fine.” Felix knew Powder had a talent for making machines.

“Powder is dead.

From now on, call me Jinx.” She looked up at Felix and said it seriously.

Felix and Powder looked at each other for a few seconds.

Then he smiled.
