“Powder!” Vi threw herself against the cell door.

The violent movement tore her wounds open again, and blood began spilling out uncontrollably.

Vi had not had an easy time in Stillwater Hold.Full novel: Arcane: The Road to Runeterra — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She was young, and on top of that, her scrappy Zaunite temper had made her one of the prison’s special targets.

Every so often, some officer would come by to give her “extra attention.” And Powder was the hope that had kept her going through all of it.

Even though the last thing she had seen was Powder being taken away by Silco, which meant her chances of survival were probably slim.

“Where did you get this?” “Answer my question first.

Do you work for Silco?” Caitlyn did not understand the undercity’s situation from two years ago very well, so she asked directly.

“Plenty of people work for him.

Everyone knows that.

Where did you get this thing?” Vi’s tone grew urgent.

“There was a major bombing in the upper city.

The impact was severe,” the officer explained.

“Then what about this person?

Do you know him?” “Felix?” Vi recognized Felix in the photo, dressed in formalwear with a bright smile on his face.

“Good.

Looks like you know them all.

After investigating the upper-city bombing, we found the image used in the explosion and Felix appearing onstage.

I suspect Baron Silco ordered them to do it, but we lack evidence.” “Baron Silco?” Vi fell silent for a long moment, then slowly spoke.

“I can give you evidence.

But first, you have to get me out.” Although Vander and Silco had reached a partnership before that explosion happened, everyone knew it was because of Vi and the others that Vander had been forced to shoulder everything.

After that tragic explosion, no one knew what had happened to the undercity.

Right now, Vi only wanted to see her sister, no matter the cost.

“Even if I were out of my mind, I still wouldn’t trust someone like you.” The officer sounded somewhat disdainful.

“Someone like me?

You enforcers are all the same.

You look respectable on the outside, but underneath it, you’re worse than animals.

Fine, then go find Silco yourself.” Vi was growing anxious.

“I will.

Thank you.” The officer’s expression did not change as she turned and left.

“The undercity will chew you up until there’s nothing left.” Vi still tried to make one last struggle from inside the cell.

Caitlyn had already taken a few steps away when she stopped and sighed.

“This is Councilor Talis’s order, concerning prisoner 516.” Caitlyn handed a document to the warden.

“Heh.

She wouldn’t cooperate, huh?

Want us to have another little talk with her for you?” “No!” Caitlyn’s tone grew sharper.

“This is her pardon.” “When did this man become a councilor?” the warden asked slowly.

He knew Jayce Talis.

The Hexgates had brought him tremendous fame.

“Today,” Caitlyn said directly.

Then she asked, “How many times have you…

talked to her?” “That question…

Who keeps count of that kind of thing?” The warden smiled and answered directly.

After leaving the prison, the two of them returned to Piltover by boat.

Caitlyn gave Vi a rough explanation of the current situation.

“So how are we supposed to get to Zaun?” Because of the tense relationship between Piltover and Zaun, the bridge had now been completely sealed off by Piltover.

Topsiders could not get in, and undercity people could not get out.

Hearing Caitlyn’s question, Vi gave her a slightly contemptuous look.

Just then, a thin old man passed by beside them.

Under Caitlyn’s stunned gaze, Vi leapt straight down.

Because of the way Piltover and Zaun were built, the two cities were not only connected by a bridge, but also existed in upper and lower layers.

Jumping down from Piltover meant landing in Zaun.

Seeing that Vi had already gone down, Caitlyn gritted her teeth and slowly jumped after her.

By the time Caitlyn reached the lower city, Vi had already taken care of a group of thugs and gotten herself some clothes.

On the other side, the same thin old man they had seen in the upper city walked past the two of them again.

“Welcome to the Lanes,” Vi said, looking at the breathless Caitlyn.

“You nearly got me killed.” “My sister could run like that when she was seven.” The two stared each other down for a while.

In the end, Caitlyn was the one who gave in.

“Fine, you’re in charge.

So what do we do next?” Caitlyn asked in compromise.

“First, we get a real meal,” Vi said seriously.

The Sun Gates.

After receiving Silco’s orders, Jinx took a ship to the Sun Gates.

Before she left, Felix had specifically told Sevika to pick easy targets.

If they saw a Noxian military supply ship, they were to ignore it and let it pass.

But if they ran into a merchant ship belonging to some other family, then they would hit it dirty.

At that moment, Jinx stood proudly on the bow of the ship, Pow-Pow in her hands spitting fire without pause.

Her target was a medium-sized merchant vessel.

She laughed while spraying bullets across the ship.

A few sailors on the merchant ship tried to fight back, but how could they be any match for Jinx’s suppressing fire?

Old-fashioned flintlock guns against a light machine gun.

What kind of genius thought that was a fair fight?

As the sailors on the other side fell one after another and the surrender flag was raised, Sevika quickly tried to stop her.

Felix had specifically told them to leave some survivors to return to Piltover and put pressure on the people in charge.

But Jinx was seeing red now.

She turned to look at Sevika, who was trying to talk her down, and that look actually forced Sevika to take two steps back.

Sevika knew very well that even if Jinx “accidentally” killed her, Silco and Felix would, at most, scold Jinx for it.

She swallowed, but still forced herself to speak.

“Felix said this.

If you don’t listen, you can explain it to him yourself later.” Jinx stared at Sevika for several seconds.

The violence in her eyes slowly faded.

She made a face at Sevika, then returned to the cabin.

“Confiscate all the cargo, then give the survivors a small boat and let them go to Piltover,” Sevika said, letting out a breath of relief once she saw Jinx return to the cabin.

In truth, Felix should have come with Jinx this time.

But Felix was currently researching how to improve the stability of Hextech crystals.

Otherwise, even if the original PROJECT mech could be used, what if it suffered a severe impact during use and the Hextech gemstones exploded?

Because of that, he had decided not to go out for the time being.

But he was worried something might happen to Jinx, so he sent the steady Sevika over instead to command the fleet interception.

Sevika looked at the rising sun in the east.

Dawn was coming.

This kind of sunlight could not be seen in the undercity.

Only topsiders were qualified to be bathed in the sun.

“The ship’s cargo has all been confiscated, Sevika.” A bald, tattoo-covered brute jumped back from the battered cargo ship and reported to her.

Because of the emergence of the Hexgates, ships carrying valuable goods were already using the gates for transport.

Only low-profit ships carrying daily necessities still traveled by sea.

“Understood.

Find the next target,” Sevika ordered coldly.
