[* 3rd Person POV *] Cain’s answering smile deepened, slow and full of quiet promise.

“Oh, I plan to” He said.

“But only when you’re ready to stop carrying everything alone.” Outside, the sun climbed higher.Full novel: As Naruto Uzumaki With An R-18 System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Inside the Hokage office, the air between them had shifted subtle, irreversible, and only just beginning.

Tsunade’s amber eyes stayed locked on his for several long seconds.

The quiet between them was no longer empty.

It had weight.

Cain let it settle, then spoke again, voice low and even, the same tone he might have used when offering a cup of tea rather than something that could change the shape of a morning.

“Even you deserve to be selfish sometimes, Tsunade-sama.” He used the old honorific deliberately, soft enough that it felt like a private reminder rather than formality.

“You’ve spent years putting everyone else first Shizune, the hospital, the village, me.

Just… relax a little.

Sit here.

Breathe.

You don’t have to solve anything for the next hour.” Before she could answer, he reached into the inner pocket of his robe and drew out the small pale-pink candle.

It looked almost ordinary in the daylight slender, faintly translucent, the kind of thing a civilian might keep for atmosphere.

He set it on the desk between them, produced a simple lighter from the same pocket, and struck the flame.

The wick caught with a soft hiss.

A thin ribbon of smoke rose, carrying a scent so light it was almost not a scent at all warm skin, something faintly sweet, the ghost of flowers left in a closed room.

Cain did not explain it.

He simply returned the lighter to his pocket, picked up the nearest stack of reports, and began reading as if the conversation had reached a natural pause.

Tsunade watched him.

At first the silence felt ordinary.

Then the candle’s mild effect began to settle over the room like a second layer of morning light.

It did not force anything.

It only made the edges of her thoughts softer, the tight places inside her chest a fraction easier to notice.

She sat back in the visitor’s chair, one leg still crossed over the other, and found herself studying the man across the desk with a new, slow attention.

He looked… different this morning.

Not drastically.

The same blond hair, the same broad shoulders that had carried the village’s weight for years.

But the faint shadows under his eyes had lightened.

His skin seemed clearer in the gold bars of sunlight.

The way he held the paperwork steady, unhurried carried a quiet confidence that felt older than the boy she had once trained.

Had he always looked like this?

The question arrived without permission.

She tried to push it away by focusing on the familiar creases of the desk, the distant sound of Academy students outside, the soft crackle of the candle.

Yet the thought returned, circling.

He had always been earnest.

Always loud with his care.

But this morning the care felt quieter, more deliberate, aimed specifically at her rather than at the abstract idea of “the village.” When he had told her she was still beautiful, the words had not sounded like flattery.

They had sounded like simple observation.

Tsunade’s fingers tightened once against the arm of the chair.

She had spent so many nights alone that the shape of loneliness had become background noise.

Drink until the edges blurred.

Train until the body ached enough to silence the mind.

Read the same reports three times because stillness invited memories of everyone she had outlived.

Dan.

Nawaki.

The faces that no longer answered when she reached for them in dreams.

And now this man this Hokage who had once been her student had looked at her as if he saw the empty spaces and refused to pretend they were not there.

Warmth spread slowly through her chest.

It was not the sharp heat of arousal, not yet.

It was something more dangerous, the simple, almost forgotten sensation of being noticed without being needed for anything.

Of being allowed to sit still.

Her thoughts grew messier the longer she watched him work.

Was he always this mature?

The boy who once shouted about becoming Hokage had become a man who could sit in silence and still make her feel less alone.

The age gap yawned in her mind years of experience, of loss, of hardened edges that should have made any such noticing inappropriate.

He was married.

Hinata’s quiet presence was a known fact in the village.

Tsunade had congratulated them.

She had attended the ceremony with the rest of the village elders.

And yet.

The way he had looked at her a few minutes earlier kept replaying.

Not the casual glance of a subordinate or a former student.

Something warmer.

Something that had made the color rise along her throat before she could stop it.

She wanted more of that look.

The realization arrived with the same quiet inevitability as the candle’s scent filling the room.

She wanted to feel seen again.

Wanted the warmth that had settled under her ribs to grow instead of being pushed down the way she always pushed everything down.

Naruto’s earlier words rose in her mind like a second voice: You’re still allowed to take something for yourself without the world ending.

Selfish.

The word should have felt foreign.

Instead it felt like a key turning in a lock she had forgotten existed.

Above her head the System numbers shifted without fanfare.

[Loyalty: 65] [Love: 70] Tsunade did not see the change.

She only felt the decision settle into place, solid and irreversible.

She was going to be selfish.

Just this once.

Just enough to taste the feeling again.

She rose from the chair with the same unhurried grace she used when entering an operating room controlled, deliberate, no wasted motion.

The soft rustle of her skirt was the only sound besides the faint crackle of the candle.

Cain did not look up immediately.

He finished the sentence he was reading, set the page aside, and only then lifted his gaze.

Tsunade stopped beside the desk, close enough that the edge of the wood brushed her thigh.

Morning light caught the diamond on her forehead and the faint sheen of the candle’s smoke between them.

Her voice, when it came, was lower than before, roughened by everything she had kept locked away.

“Naruto” He waited, patient, the same quiet attention he had offered earlier still present in his eyes.

Tsunade’s hand rested on the desk near the candle.

Her pulse was steady, but the warmth in her chest had become a steady ache need, long denied, finally given permission to surface.

“You said I deserve to be selfish sometimes.” A small pause.

She held his gaze without flinching.

“I’m taking you up on that.” She did not step back.

The air between them carried the soft, persistent scent of the candle and the heavier, unspoken weight of everything she had decided in the silence.

Outside the office the village continued its ordinary morning.

Inside, Tsunade Senju had chosen to stop carrying everything alone for the next hour, at least and the man who had offered her that choice was still watching her with the same calm, promising intensity that had started it all.

Cain’s smile returned, slower this time, deeper, the kind that suggested he had been waiting for exactly this moment without ever rushing it.

“Good” He said quietly.

“Then say exactly what you want.” The quest marker in the corner of his vision pulsed once more, soft and satisfied, as the next stage of the morning began to unfold.

Otherwise my updates will still remain consistent so there won’t be any issue if you don’t purchase it either!
