23: CHAPTER 18: Monsters In Human Form.
Chapter 9: Monsters in Human Form The deafening shockwave had barely faded…
When another explosion echoed across the Ye Mansion.
BOOM!
The eldest elder’s eyes widened.
“They disappeared!” “No…” “They’re too fast!” Before anyone could react— KING appeared before the second elder.
His crimson-red eyes were as calm as ever.
He didn’t speak.
He simply threw a punch.
The elder hurriedly gathered earth magic around both arms.
“Earth Fortress!” Layers of hardened stone wrapped around his body like armor.
The next instant— BOOOM!!
The armor shattered into countless fragments.
The elder’s arms bent unnaturally as he was launched through a dozen buildings, leaving a trail of destruction behind him.
Blood sprayed through the air.
Meanwhile…
Shadow silently appeared behind the fourth elder.
The elder sensed danger and immediately turned, swinging his sword.
Shadow tilted his head slightly.
The blade passed only a hair’s breadth from his face.
Without hesitation, Shadow grabbed the elder’s wrist.
Crack.
The sound of bones breaking echoed through the battlefield.
Before the elder could scream— Shadow slammed him into the ground.
BOOM!
The entire courtyard collapsed inward.
Dust and broken stone shot into the sky.
The remaining three elders immediately regrouped.
“This isn’t normal!” “They’re fighting like veterans!” “No…” “They’re monsters!” The eldest elder raised both hands.
“Everyone!” “Formation!” The remaining elders instantly understood.
They leaped into different directions, surrounding the twins in the shape of a five-pointed star.
Golden lines of magical energy connected them.
A massive magic circle spread across the mansion.
The air itself became heavy.
The eldest elder shouted, “Five Directions Sealing Formation!” Immediately— Five pillars of light shot toward the heavens.
An enormous barrier enclosed the entire Ye Mansion.
Outside…
The citizens watching from afar gasped.
“They used the family’s strongest formation!” “I heard even high-ranking mages can be trapped inside it!” “Whoever it is, they are finished…” Inside the barrier…
Neither KING nor Shadow moved.
They quietly observed the formation.
The third elder smirked.
“You’ve lost.” “No matter how fast you are…” “You cannot escape this formation.” The magical circle began spinning.
Thousands of glowing chains emerged from the ground and rushed toward the twins.
Shadow calmly raised one hand.
A wall of ice instantly rose before him.
The chains struck it— —but pierced straight through.
Shadow’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“So they absorb magic…” KING nodded once.
“They’re targeting movement.” The chains continued multiplying.
Within seconds…
The battlefield had become a prison of glowing restraints.
The fifth elder laughed loudly.
“You finally understand.” “This formation wasn’t created to kill.” “It was created to capture.” “And once you’re captured…” He slowly pointed his sword toward the twins.
“You’ll wish you had died today.” Silence filled the battlefield.
The chains were now only a few meters away.
Yet…
KING and Shadow remained completely calm.
The eldest elder frowned.
“Why aren’t they afraid?” Then…
KING spoke.
His voice remained as emotionless as ever.
“If one path is blocked…” “…make another.” The elders looked at each other in confusion.
“What does he mean?” Shadow slowly closed his eyes.
A cold wind suddenly swept across the battlefield.
Snowflakes began falling from a clear blue sky.
The temperature dropped rapidly.
The ice beneath everyone’s feet expanded across the entire courtyard.
At the same time— Flames erupted around KING.
Scarlet fire twisted around his body like living dragons.
The eldest elder’s face changed instantly.
“They’re using magic!” “Strength and magic together?!” The flames and ice continued growing stronger.
The two completely opposite elements did not interfere with one another.
Instead…
They perfectly synchronized.
The magical pressure released by the twins shook the Five Directions Sealing Formation itself.
Crack…
A tiny fracture appeared in the barrier.
The elders froze.
“…Impossible.” Another crack appeared.
Then another.
Then another.
The eldest elder shouted, “Strengthen the formation!” “NOW!” All five elders poured every ounce of their magical power into the barrier.
Veins bulged across their foreheads.
Sweat dripped from their faces.
But the cracks only continued spreading.
Shadow slowly opened his black eyes.
KING clenched his fist.
For the first time since the battle began…
The twins attacked together.
The entire Ye Mansion trembled.
